17 - forest

In from if the walks Shallan in her white coat, throwing suspicious and interested glances at the vegetation. In front are Adolin and Kaladin, with Maya packe between them. Adolin holds her hand causally while saying something to Kaladin and looking into the direction they are heading. Kal is in uniform, carrying a second harpoon, and bag strapped over one shoulder and across his chest. Adolin wears fashionably adapted lighteyes clothes and a rucksack on his bag. Both men sport proper beginnings to a beard.

so my hope was to have more time and energy for free work and fanart indulgence over the Sommer but it was blatantly false. So very quick and rough paintings before going to bed is all I manage for now.

This one turned about a man, his friends and his swords, although sometimes it is difficult to distinguish between the latter two.

Unity part 4 Well, … that one was on hibernation for a few months, but it was finally and surprisingly quickly brought to completion in the last two days. I wonder if Dalinar will ever get into arts and crafts for learning how to bond things in different ways than just forcefully slamming them together. It has been working way to well for him for most of his life, but the man badly needs to broaden his analogies and methods for it. He knows it, too, I think. I’d love to see Rock teach him cooking.

The Thaylen Oathgate

On an entirely different note: the end to part four from Oathbringer. After all those comics I really wanted to do some painting and more scenery... Oh man, I am already reading my way through part five and that one is just packed with sooooo much good and exciting stuff!!! argh. At least that way I have loads of things to work on while I'll do a pleasant first read of Dawnshard and maybe even RoW (without stopping every five pages for several days so I can draw a thing or seven).

Odd Bunch

More ship things from Shadesmar. (harhar, pun intended). Kaladin is stealing the show. Again. And Adolin lamenting about Kal's hotness to Pattern is just kind of endearing. Don't get me wrong, I am all in for some positive polyship representation. The text does not give me vibes for it to happen, though (at least at this point... since Kaladin is like the typical beauty that is mostly unaware of her effect on the people surrounding her). Also I always will prefer solid friendships before unnerving love drama. It's not like the world around them is not peril enough... Don't worry, Adolin, Bridgeboy here might be so passionate that the drama is coming out of his ears, but anyone who has a good sense of aesthetics, gives back massages AND great hugs has already like 5 gold stars in my books. Shallan evolves more and more into a gibson girl... Also the beards are back on, hooray!!! Pattern cracks me up.

ah, those two have such good chemistry. If Adolin wasn't the absolut golden boy before the Almighty (and the better choice for emotional support), I would definitely root for them very hard.

I wanted to find out how Syl looks in human colours. ... and noticed I never drew the back or her dress before. Now it's fancy.

some spren and how they appear in Shadesmar; It was fun to expand on the designs of Ben McSweeney and adjusting them a bit more to my personal liking. Also I don't think I've seen a depiction of a corrupted glory spren so far, so here is one. Also, Kaladin trying to be all sneaky, but anticipationspren having none of that!

I mainly wanted to use this little moment to further explore the light and shadows in Shadesmar. Because the physics of the place made my brain go funny,I even made a little chart to understand it better and so I could discuss this with others... in the end I am trying to make it a combination of all of them. Mostly one and three though.

Back to the sceeeeeences!! I really like Sanderson’s description of Shallan’s dress getting in the way in that dunking scene. It makes me almost really feel cold wind, wet silk and salty water...
