I’ve been existentially exhausted lately so I apologize for not interacting in the last few weeks. But I’m so close with this Cassian piece, so I wanted to share a little excerpt with y’all.
In this scene, reader and Cassian have just returned from town to his place after a post-war terrorist attack that in their city on Ralltiir.
Cassian shrugged out of his well-worn jacket, and put his arm around you, a touch that’s become familiar in the short time you’ve known each other—the kind of familiar that touches at truth, something that has always existed between the two of you, if you had only known to look for it.
And suddenly, you felt yourself starting to tremble. It was only now that you were safe with your person that you were allowing the shock of the last hour’s events to hit your body.
“Hey,” Cassian says, taking your face in his hand. “Hey, now. Look at me. Everything is going to be okay.”
“I just never thought—”
“I know. And you shouldn’t have to. But it happened. And you’re safe, and I’m going to keep you safe, all right?”
You nodded, and he kissed you, wiping a few tears away with his the pads of his thumbs. You let your hands wander over his well-defined chest and around his shoulders, pulling him closer, impossibly closer, wanting nothing but the tiniest of atoms between the two of you and soon you’ve made your way to the bedroom, to the intimacy you hadn’t known to crave before you met Cassian.
