You smile softly as you get up that morning and get ready for the day. Poe is expected to return from a flight today and you can't wait to see him again. Of course, as his navigator, you two have been able to stay in contact but hearing his voice was nothing compared to falling asleep next to him and waking up in his arms again. It has been two years since Poe showed you how to kiss and won your heart for good. Two years full of shared happiness, loss, the ongoing fight, and love. You wouldn't change it for a thing.
You put on your headset and connect yourself with Poe's squadron. "Morning, flyboy," you say teasingly and hear Jess break out into laughter.
"That's General Dameron to you, ma'am." he gives back and you can hear he's smiling himself.
"We'll see about that." you chuckle softly and glance at your screen, your heart warming when you notice he isn't that far away anymore. "I'll see you all in a bit," you say before switching to a private channel with him.
"Seriously?" he asks laughing softly. "You're not letting that go, right?"
"Never." you giggle and close your eyes, as you listen to him. It makes you feel so much closer to him.
"Unbelievable…I can't wait to see you, my little star." he smiles softly and while knowing exactly how your eyes light up at that nickname, a small smile covering your lips and a slight blush settling on your cheeks.
"Me neither…you'll be scooped up in meetings once you're back I suppose?" you sigh softly. You wouldn't get much of your boyfriend then until the evening.
Poe smirks at your sigh. "I told them there's no need to have them today. Which means we've got the whole day just to ourselves," he tells you and can hear you chuckle. "I missed you, you know. I think we deserve some time together."
"If that's what our General thinks I have to accept his offer with pleasure." you tease.
"I sure hope you will," he smirks and your breath hitches audibly. "Mm, you've got that right."
"I missed you too." you giggle and roll your eyes playfully at his eagerness. You would have lied saying you weren't excited now.
