He paced his room, grunting and pulling at his clothing until nothing remained but that stupid pouch, his dog tags, and underwear. He growled at himself, scolding and cursing as he recounted telling you about the drug running, about using his own to help his own. Clutching at the pouch, he smelled at the leather, smelling the herbs within until he moved to the leather strap and cut though the scents it was hiding. Trying to find you.

The scent of fresh air after the rain, the sweetness of burnt sugar, and the warmth of the sun. You that hid under all the layers of the bullshit you clung on to. He held it close to nose as he preened a puffed, the muscles under his soft skin that no longer held taught but showed the well earned age of a wolf who lived a tough life of sacrifice and hard decisions. In wolf form, however, he was big and powerful, the only signs of age shown in his dark umber and chestnut coat, patches of gray poking through. 💫
