A sweet holiday surprise.

She's smiling when she finds him, hands held behind her back as her she leans against the other side of the kitchen island.

Alfred's waiting on his water to boil - the china teapot and matching cup standing at attention, the ceramic lid set off to the side. The pot already warmed, the open tin of loose tea perfuming the room with hints of bergamont.

Like The Movies | Day 11: Movie Night

What begins as a cozy movie night turns into both of you watching something much more intimate.

The movie flashes across the screen in the living room. It’s an old, holiday-themed classic, with soft tones of black and white, a smooth jazz soundtrack. Something he picked out from a lifetime ago.

He indulges you, a half-eaten bowl of popcorn on the floor, popped on a cast-iron skillet in the kitchen, dusted with sea salt and melted butter. A thick blanket fending off the winter chill as you lounge against him - an arm around your waist, your head tucked against the crook of his shoulder.

I am really going to miss reading this, but I know I will be coming back to it over and over again. 🥰 I still can not get this image out of my head of alfred & his lady sitting on the couch together, with her pulled so closed to him, tracing his vest, just caught up in looking & speaking candidly to one another about their future. The glare of the screen hurts his eyes. It’s too late in the evening for the bright light that illuminates his face. He's been staring at it for far too long - absorbing every last detail of the photos that are pulled up.

He had been working, trying to kill time. Blinking with a startled fascination when the news alert he had set up for "Bruce Wayne" chimed. Expecting the usual - a crass article recapping the anniversary, a touching article about the memorial.

Bruce’s name dropped for clout.

Not anticipating him to be merely a mention in the tagline, a caption paired with a set of photos. Photos that featured her - looking so utterly bewitching that it made his heart lurch.

I AM SCREAMING. 😭👋❤️

ok ok, her lingerie, his twinge of 'not jealousy' looking at the photo, her wanting to leave the necklace on !!, & all of their 'confessions' ! 💫

Your eyes have been glued to the television all morning, the faces looking contorted as you lay curled on your side. The news flashes across the screen, the same images - the same stories on all the channels. There haven't been any updates all morning.

catching up on reading & just as always my heart is caught inside my chest, reeling at the edge of my seat ! I can barely breathe ! you can really feel the longing & the emotion between them, the compassion of bruce keeping an eye on her & also looking out for alfred as well. the overall tone of gotham is just captured so well as the events from the batman begin to unfold, surrounding them both as they find their loving way back to one another.

this series is so beautifully expressed & I truly can not get enough. ❤️

Eaten Up
