Seems like far right won't be winning how happy are you?

EXTREMEMY happy. It’s the first time I “won” an election 😭

But nothing is really done yet, there’s no real majority and I believe it’s the first time in French history that 3 parties have so many seats. And our parliamentary regime isn’t made for that kind of results so it’s going to be chaotic. I hope the left alliance is going to stay strong and stay together. It’s the only way for them to hope for a PM on their side.

So yeah, it’s a good start, but it’s only the beginning !

hello! i’m wanting to get into more french movies and i believe you have good taste! do you have any recommendations? have a good day!

omg anon i love the question, but where to begin !!! I don’t know how to make short answers so sorry about that…

I'm going to try not to list the most obvious films but not too niche either so you can find them somwhere. And i started watching french films quite late in my life so you won't see many films made before 2015 aha.

Just in case, you can check my letterboxd profile, I watch a lot of french films now so you might find some stuff there too :)

Also, i'm not sure since when you've known me but the film i would recommend the most is obvisouly Portrait of a Lady on Fire by Céline Sciamma (but you probably watched it already if you're following me haha).

Next obvious film since I've been posting a lot about it recently : Anatomy of a Fall by Justine Triet.

And now, here's a list (in no order) of a few films i really loved/ enjoyed. I tried to put them under different themes to make it clearer but obviously some films mix genres.

Comedy/ Romance :

Anais in Love by Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet (2021)

The Bare Necessity by Erwan Le Duc (2019)

My Donkey, My Lover and I by Caroline Vignal (2020)

Yannick by Quentin Dupieux (2023)

The Spanish Appartment by Cédric Klapisch (2002)

(Social) Thriller/ Drama :

Bloody Milk by Hubert Charuel (2017)

Custody by Xavier Legrand (2017)

BPM by Robin Campillo (2017)

The Class by Laurent Cantet (2008)

By the Grace of God by François Ozon (2018)

Happening by Audrey Diwan (2021)

The Night of the 12th by Dominik Moll (2022)

Saint Omer by Alice Diop (2022)

Atlantics by Mati Diop (2019)

Hippocrates by Thomas Lilti (2014)

Amour by Michael Haneke 2012

Onoda, 10 000 Nights in the Jungle by Arthur Harari (2021)

Other People's Children by Rebecca Zlotowski (2022)

Fantasy/ Horror :

Raw by Julie Ducournau (2016)

Infested by Sebastien Vanick (2023)

The Swarm by Just Philippot (2020)

The Animal Kingdom by Thomas Cailley (2023)

Documentary :

Little Girl by Sébastien Lifshitz (2020)

Classics :

Cléo from 5 to 7 by Agnès Varda (1962)

The 400 Blows by François Truffaut (1959)

My Night At Maud's by Eric Rohmer (1969)

I tried to only put one film by director otherwise the list would be endless.

So here you go, have fun now !! And please let me know if you watch some of them :)

Maybe you should try watching Teenage Bounty Hunters and/or NCIS Hawai'i. The first because it's funny, there are teenagers figuring out their sexuality in an honest way, the characters look their age and of course there is a wlw relationship. Also it's just 10 eps because fuck Netflix. The second is because the main relationship is actually focused on 2 women who have insane chemistry but they fucked up and it's just a slow-ish burn of them finding their way back to each other. I personally don't watch cop procedurals because of the copaganda and it's just not my cup of tea but the characters are surprisingly well written.

Oh yes I did watch several videos of Lucy and Kate from NCIS Hawaii when I heard there was a wlw couple in it 👀 I did like their story and it looked like a good written one so I’m glad you feel the same ! I probably should watch it for real now haha !

Never heard about the other show tho ! But that’s also why I rarely watch Netflix shows except when I know it’s a mini series, cause they just cancel so many shows with wlw rep…. It’s also why I wanted to see if they would cancel WN before maybe watching it, cause I was so sure they would not renew it. And I can’t stand watching unfinished shows like that, it’s too frustrating 😩

Script in French

Hello Ladyonefire28

I recently discoverd this movie and I'm totally hyped about it!

First of all thank you for making the translation in english!!!!

I was wondering where you can find the original script in french? I've been looking it to learn more french next to your translation in english, but can't find it anywhere,...

any way thanks again for the english version already! Merci Beacoup!

Hi anon !

Unfortunately the script is nowhere to be found. Only Plain Archive, a Korean dvd edition, managed to get the rights and sell the script in the original language + Korean. So the only way we had to get the French script was to buy a very limited edition of the Korean product.

And I don’t know if someone shared the French version of it. My memory is absolutely awful though, so if someone has a way to share the French script without putting people in trouble, I guess they can leave a comment under the post !

Hi, do you know if the dvd with the new translation has been released? Thank you

It’s been so long I can’t be sure but I think the criterion dvd has the new translation ? Maybe I’m mixing everything up though.

But they did not change much from the old translation if I remember

Adele has two books out? what?

I mean no she didn’t become a writer just like that lmao. But she participates in some feminists essays. The two books are collective works.

One is called « Feu! Abécédaire des féminismes présents » coordinated by Elise Dorlin. And Adele writes under the word « feu » (fire) and her meaning of it etc.

And the other is « une bibliothèque féministe », where she comments and talks about a text from Virginie Despentes I believe.

That’s only what I know about that.

And there are a lot of other women working in arts involved in those two books.

Are you interested to read two Adele's books recently out?

Of course yeah I’m interested in it ! I’m just a really bad reader when it’s not the holidays and I usually have a long lists of books I wanna read in priority so I might not read it rigt away, but it’s in my list for sure!

I couldn't take the survey as it kept using the word queer in the questions and I don't use the word to describe myself. Should have just used LGBT+...

Hi, I understand your concern, but you should talk directly to Heather about it. She put her email adress in the contact section of the survey!

So glad you met her and talked to her! Did you by any chance tell her about your tumblr activity or of all the great work you have done in translating for the poalof community? Thanks and welcome back lovely Aimee! 🥰

Haha no not at all, it didn’t even cross my mind ! It’s definitely not something I would ever say to her. But thank you 😊

Would you mind telling what topics you discussed during that 30 mins? What was your impression on her at your first glance? Was she the same as you imagined before you met her? Is there anything special you noticed about her?

Just to be clear it wasn’t just me and her. I was with a 3 other very cool girls :) But basically we talked about the play and our interpretations of it because the play’s topic is really dark, it’s about parents’ abuse on their child. but nothing is really said out loud, it’s all subdued. So it was interesting to talk about it with her and understand what they really wanted to show with Gisele, especially on the role of the father, who’s the real abuser, even if the mother isn’t innocent either.

Then we talked about some recent interviews she did, about feminism, patriarchy etc.

And at the end she asked us what we were doing in life, so we talked a lot about our jobs which lead to other topics like books and the fact that she’s involved in 2 books projets that are coming out at the same time soon !

And Adèle is more than everything I had ever imagined. I thought she would be tired and I didn’t want to bother her for too long but she kept talking and she was so interested about what we were saying. And she really listens and looks at you when you talk and she asks more questions etc.

Oh and also something that was really funny is when she talked about her short hair and said one of the reason she wanted to have that hair cut is because since she’s young she always wanted to put styling gel 😂

You honestly can’t imagine how lovely and sweet she really is until you meet her. It’s unreal!

The only thing i noticed is that she’s not as tall as I expected lmao.

Hi! Do you know if there are any theaters still showing POALOF in Paris? Visiting soon but not seeing anything except one that I won't make it in time for :(

Hello, so sorry for replying so late again, probably even too late 😔

But unfortunately I don’t think there was any special screening of portrait in June/ July besides the one you’re talking about. I might be wrong though. But I haven’t heard anything else I’m sorry :(
