October 2, 1835
On October 2, 1835 the Battle of Gonzales took place between Texas militia and a Mexican army, during the starting point of the Texas Revolution. The Mexican cavalry force was under the command of Francisco de Castañeda which commanded 100 men, while the Texan militia was under the command of John Henry Moore in which commanded 150 militia men. Only 4 Mexican troops died in this small skirmish, while there was no Texan casualty. In reality no one win this battle, the Mexican force retreated so there wouldn’t be a blown out battle between them and the militia. Though the Texan believe that they won this battle against the Mexicans. After the battle Antonio Lopez De Santana started to gather troops for the Texas campaign against the rebels
