When I was seven years old, I wanted to be an archaeologist. That didn’t change much. It was surreal when my practicum classmates and I had an internship at the National Museum of the Philippines this summer. We met great Filipino archaeologists and had private lectures (by Prof. Ronquillo and Dr. Dizon) on Filipino Maritime Excellence and the Metal Age in the Philippines. On top of that, we sorted H. Otley Beyer’s untouched collections of artifacts and accessioned pots from Robert Fox’s collection. I was in a daze.
I’ve taken something around 600 photos, mostly blurred, more or less details of ancient jewellery, carvings and paintings for my personal needs, so I have not much of interesting stuff, but I’ll post few recognizable things at least.
Sweet. Fox movies just approved my press pass request. Thanks anon dude wot gave me tips.
as soon as we rid the privileged word “marriage” from the law and public discourse, my girlfriend of 4 1/2 years and I can maybe start to see the same rights as heterosexual couples.
this doesn’t have to be about religion. this can be about securing the same benefits for the same civil union, gay or straight or anything in between, under statute. if you wanna get married in your church, whatever your denomination, that’s your business. that’s between you and your god[s].
as for rights as an American citizen, couples of any religion, gender or ethnicity should be able to apply for the same tax and social benefits by acquiring the same civil union, or whatever the fuck we could call it.
lgbt community—you can’t please everyone when you use the word “marriage”. this institution has been defined and redefined by countless religions and ideologues. stop now. let’s focus on the issue at hand: equality.
religious community who thinks this is a religious issue—it’s not. it’s about human rights. we don’t want to undermine your religion, we’re not trying to marry into your church and we’re not trying to please your god. we’re trying to visit our partners in the hospital, we’re trying to be legitimized in the eyes of our great country. we want to be treated fairly under law.
& we’re trying to make things work, just like you.
the computer screen is making me queezy
and my tongue went numb.... see you guys later....
Missing the generations of LOTR fans before the movies. Where did they go? They had a lot to say.
I might be able to hook you up with a Tolkien Mega-Fan but... you know
FYI Guys I wont be on tomorrow or the 7th.
I'm a Poll Worker working "Super Tuesday" and the 6th I'll be, of course, at the polls in a media black-out and by noon I will have temporarily forgotten how the alphabet works.
The 7th I will be recovering from working the polls and probably in a coma-like state from a mild caffeine overdose.
I finally got around to finishing the box... sorry if some of them are blurry and the inside it still a bit dirty. Now the question is; What am I going to do with it?
humanity failed me again
It occurred to me I haven't checked the "Victorian era" tag since my first day here at Tumblr, even though it's a fairly large chunk of what I post. So I checked it. And remembered why I don't check it.
gawddamnitpeople. Seriously? Am I the only one posting actual Victorian Era anything or did I just check at a bad time? If y'all don't get serious and learn how to properly tag your posts, I'll post full length texts of the Norse Sagas... I'll fucking do it....
Just ignore me. I'm having a bitch moment. I need some chocolate, or a massive dose of midol.
Why I don't reblog cancer stories.
Oh for the record. I hate cancer. I watched both my Grandmother and my Step-Dad's Mother die from it. I loathe it. I loathe what it does to people. I also know that reblogging cancer stories does nothing to help anyone.
Cancer/AIDS foundations and Make-A-Wish have better things to do than monitor facebook/tumblr/google+/whatever other social network site is out there for reblogs/reposts.
Such as actually treating patients and granting wishes.
Something personal
I have very few true "triggers" and by trigger I mean PISSED OFF MAJOR PSYCHOTIC HATRED.
Disney (all things)
Titanic the Movie (you know which one)
Both, for pretty much the same reason. The fuck-it attitude displayed towards my precious folklore.
That said, because of an event I do not care to relate, I am completely immune to It's a Small World and by extension all children's rhymes.
holy shit...
I just realized you can queue reblogs! Now you'll never know when I'm on or not! MUHAHAHAHAHA!
On Chaz Bono
I personally, honestly, don't care. So what if he had a sex change.
But all those bitches out there be pissing me off. He is legally defined as a male now. STFU about Dancing with the Stars.
I think the best revenge he can take from all y'all is that he actually can dance (really given his parents is any surprised that he can dance?) and I hope he wins just so I can watch all your poor wittle heads go asplode.
Right on Chaz. You go boy!
*munches popcorn*
A little box I'm making. It's 98% finished. I need to wrap all the inserts in cranberry colored felt to match the rest of the inside and tack down the bottom dividers and the top insert.
Cell Phone Photos taken at the Corvette Museum a month ago.
Tried to stack my queue....
.... realized I don't have anything of value worth posting.
