Have you ever heard of Achtervelt? It was the Dutch name for the Brooklyn neighborhood now called the Flatlands. This 17th-century conveyance written in calligraphic Middle Dutch officially signed over the area from Andries Hudden to Wolphert Gerritsz van Kouwenhoven.
