i can't tell you how many times i've spoken up about harassment only to be told to "learn to take a compliment".
since when do "compliments" intrude on my space? what kind of "compliment" makes a person feel unsafe or threatened?
harassment isn't a compliment. know the difference.

I used to be SUPER uncomfortable with compliments. I didn't trust that the person was being honest, other times I felt like I didn't deserve it. I've also struggled with feeling like I need to give them a compliment back to take the attention off me....
It really helped me to practice acknowledging and accepting compliments. It's a self-esteem exercise that pushed me to own my shit and acknowledge it out loud.
"Thank you, I really appreciate that." "Thanks, that is really nice of you." "Thanks for noticing, I worked really hard on it."
