During the first Trump administration I saw a disturbing rise in American nationalist tendencies amongst many Democratic Party loyalists but this time I’m really unnerved by how openly racist many people are being, blaming and scapegoating a variety of marginalized groups for not toeing the line and falling into apathy about the election. This is not a good development in the process of fascization in the United States.
I think what we are unfortunately seeing is a broadening of fascist racial politics beyond party lines that blame various groups for society’s intensifying failures. That rarely ends well and I’m deeply concerned that much more people will be radicalized towards genocide in a world that has been getting increasingly genocidal as is.

liberals will feel a rare dissonance upon catching a glimpse of the reality they live in and then go to the supermarket where they can still get seasonal fruits year round or take a drive on their fully paved roads to calm down or engage in any other mundanity of their world dependant on imperialist extraction and feel rejuvenated, politically, by their dissonance simmering down into a cool complacency.

since this fundraiser has started back in early 2024, we've only managed to help fund the escape of dr moath and his mother, basma. three family members remain in gaza including moath's father and his two younger brothers.
please help his family. this fundraiser has been stagnating badly and i'm incredibly worried for yusuf, ahmed, and their father. we need less than $5000 in order to evacuate one of them. if you have any money to spare please please please contribute to this campaign.
Anyway, for the last two days entire towns in southern Lebanon have been erased and 87 martyrs in Lebanon since yesterday. 40 airstrikes just this morning. In Gaza people are desperate for food. In northern Gaza more men and boys have been kidnapped and tortured by the occupation, people are forced to sleep in the cold streets, and extermination is on the horizon. The occupation has besieged northern Gaza for 32 consecutive days and israeli soldiers have executed doctors and blown up the children’s ward in hospitals. All across Gaza the bodies of martyrs continues to rise and suffering is indescribable. The occupation has invaded Jenin and its refugee camps, in the West Bank, for over two days murdering and kidnapping people, and demolishing homes, businesses and streets.
whats going on is that a large middle class was created post-wwii to prevent communism and became accustomed to an unsustainable level of luxury, and is now becoming increasingly disillusioned as it becomes clear that the bubble is bursting
& i should mention that said unsustainable level of luxury comes straight out of the global south

from one chronically anxious person to another: the world is not going to go up in flames. What happens will be more slow, more bureaucratic, more boring. There is no catastrophe to end all catastrophes, no rapture, no sudden end. You can't give into the call of the void, because there is no void. So you just have to do the work to make tomorrow a better place, anyway. Because that's how it gets better.

please think of the disabled people of gaza. please think of the diabetic people of gaza. please think of the neurodivergent people of gaza. please think of those whose lives are relying on medicine that has either stopped coming in due to the blockade, or is available in such scarcity that its price has skyrocketed.
we're approaching winter. on top of the challenge of securing waterproof tents and sufficiently warm clothing, some diabetic people in gaza have stopped taking their insulin as they can no longer afford it. those who are able to acquire it for now know every shot may be their last.

his father is diabetic.
one of his younger siblings is blind, and another is autistic.
imagine that kind of pressure during a genocide.

its almost as if trumps loss in 2020 was in-fact a bellwether for the continued rise of neo-fascism... its almost like, just maybe, when a liberal party responds to reactionary ideologies with centrism and militant nationalism it doesn't exactly offer a counter to fascism but instead offers nutritive soil for its roots to grow... you could almost argue that a state that extracts its power from violent exploitation will inevitably fall to fascism... perhaps, just maybe, this is the inherent trajectory of a nation built on genocide... weird...

answering a couple questions i got on this post since i realized ppl genuinely wanna know:
tl;dr:
- israel lets very, very little aid get into gaza. even the UN can't get in as much as they want to. funding individual families, gazan led initiatives, and mutual aid collectives operating out of gaza ensures gazans can provide for themselves and pay for the extremely expensive aid that is available.
- with all the civil infrastructure destroyed by israel, the situation on the ground has devolved into unrestricted capitalism, driving up the price of aid (that should be free!). this makes it more urgent for people to have funding for daily survival.
the post linked above has examples of how donating to individual families can help a lot. if you want to help more than one family at a time, there are many gazan-led initiatives focusing on rebuilding their infrastructure and distributing aid fairly that are worth donating to instead of large charities that already get the majority of donations.
as i mentioned in the last post: @/careforgaza on twitter is a nonprofit started by gazans, it's been endorsed by multiple palestinian journalists.
the sameer project is a collective organized by diaspora palestinians offering emergency shelter to gazans.
ele elna elak is a project aiming to bring water, food, shelter, etc. to gazans and has been promoted by bisan owda.
all of these organizations are active inside gaza right now and are being run by gazans. if anyone knows of other gazan-led mutual aid projects, nonprofits or charities feel free to link them in the notes! hope this helped!
