Thomas Tellefsen (1823-1874) was a Norwegian pianist, composer, and an admired student of Frédéric Chopin. During the years 1844 to 1847, he was taught periodically by Chopin, who also became his personal friend and had considerable influence on his compositions, musical taste, and playing style. When Chopin died in 1849, Tellefsen took over some of his teacher's pupils, including Jane Stirling. In the 1850s and 1860s, Tellefsen was regarded as a very successful pianist, and he toured several times in England, Sweden, and Norway. He died in Paris, and is buried at the Cimetière d´Auteuil.
Hey :) Okay, first of all thank you, for I have discovered so many beautiful pieces through your page, I really appreciate you, just existing. Now to cut to the chase, i recently discovered Chopin's Nocturne Op. 9, No. 1 in B flat, and I am so in love with it. I was wondering if you could suggest me something similar? Perhaps not necessarily from the same composer, or in the same tone, but something that would convey a similar mood or atmosphere( even though its subjective i know but ugh)?
Hello ! Please forgive my late reply… Sometimes the app doesn’t notify me of messages 😞 and thank you for your lovely comments ! Undoubtedly, what I would suggest is the set of 18 nocturnes by Irish Composer John Field. These works were greatly admired by Chopin, and inspired him to compose his own nocturnes. The poet of the piano perfected and popularized the style, and credited the pioneering vision of the Great John Field as his motivation. They are very beautiful pieces, and I’m confident you’ll enjoy them 😊 have a safe and lovely weekend !
