While o the subject of Earthcast, are you planning on publishinv that as well? Or releasing an ebook variation? I thought I recalled something about that. Maybe I’m crazy.

But that sounds awesome. 👌 Good to know it’s still in the plans. I dig your books.

You weren’t hallucinating, I am planning to publish Earthcast in both ebook and print forms! I did a poll on it at one point and I think most people would prefer to see it released as one volume rather than split up, which I can accommodate for an ebook, but is practically impossible for a print version. (Printing costs per book aside, which would be $$$, most POD publishers don’t even allow books over a certain page count because they lose their profit margin.)

I’m kind of still figuring out what to do on that front, but the print ver will probably end up as Earthcast vol 1, 2, and 3; I’ll probably just end up releasing matching ebook versions as well as a complete omnibus as I did for Darkeye. (Though I may poll one last time upon Earthcast’s completion to make sure the interest for print versions is still there.)

Hi all, I’m making this post for my friend/coworker Jessica, who is currently running a campaign to help Save The Frogs! fund an expedition to Ghana. She just went on an eco-tour with some of their staff and had nothing but positive things to say about them.

Most of you will already know about the current crises facing the world’s amphibians, which in simple terms is that 43% of all amphibian species are in danger of going extinct. This is pretty scary and we need to take a lot of action if we want to save even some of our remaining species. Jessica’s campaign would help send one biologist to Ghana to participate in education and habitat restoration efforts- here’s the project description:

Well, sadly, no spiders are involved. A webnovel is just like it sounds: a novel that is serialized online- just like fanfiction, except webnovels have original characters and stories! Earthcast updates every Wednesday at 10 AM with big, meaty chapters.

“Ok, so what exactly happens in Earthcast, then?”

Here’s the basic plot: a strigoi (a Romanian vampire) gets cursed by a witch. In order to lift the curse, the strigoi tries to steal a golem (a Jewish clay person) from ANOTHER witch. In the process, the golem ends up gaining free will. Adventures ensue!

Was walking a dog down the street the other day when white van rolled up beside me and some guy shouted, “HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?”

…Later I learned that apparently my father has been telling people in the neighborhood that I am a dog walker.

Ok since some people wanted a more complete story:

After the guy shouted this at me, I did what I do in any scary situation- I froze and pretended to be staring intently at a nearby shrub. The dog I was walking (a tiny sweetheart named Lindsay) went over to the car and started jumping up and down like she knew the people. Meanwhile, they were staring at me.

Eventually I made the connection and said, "For... dog walking?"

From within the car: nod, intense stare.

"15 per walk."

Immediately the woman in the car made a face like this was a HEINOUS amount of money, the man said, "Oh, okay, well tell your dad we said hello," and drove off.

I recovered gradually while Lindsay peed on things.

At that point I still had no idea who they were; I only learned when I questioned my dad and he told me he'd been talking to some people down the street. Very happy with himself for promoting my business.

And that's the whole story.

Now hiring an artist for Darkeye!

Hi all, as you know I am starting to work on making Darkeye, my serialized webnovel, into a series of self-published ebooks. In order to do this, I’d like to hire an artist to draw images for my covers!

There will be four color images in all, one for each cover, and most will feature canines or hyenas. I would like them done in a realistic/sketchy style, similar to scientific field drawings. (For examples of what I mean: 1, 2, 3.)

I will pay $50+ for each image ($50 will be the base price for each image; the plus will depend on the artist’s experience). The images will not be complicated and should feature 1-2 characters with no backgrounds. I will provide a full concept for each one.

If you’re interested, please send an email with a short resume (doesn’t have to be formal, just experience with commissions, professional experience, art school, etc.) and samples of your work to koryoswrites[at]gmail.com.

(Note that I am not asking you to design FULL covers, just transparent images. You also do not have to read the webnovel, though it might endear me to you more.)

Couple quick clarifications (and thank you to everyone who sent info already!):

You don’t have to have professional experience to apply, I just want to know about it if you have it. For the most part I’m going to be basing my decision off your art.

Try to have animal art in the samples you show me; however, there will be at least one human (of African descent) on one of the covers, so I'll also be looking for realistic humans.

And please point me to some specific samples instead of just your whole gallery- while I love browsing galleries, a lot of you just have TONS of stuff to sift through. (Link to galleries along with samples, though!)

So for all interested, parties, I am live-tweeting Animorphs right now. koryos and company, take note.
