POLICE ARE USING TEARGAS AND WATER CANNONS AGAINST PEACEFUL, UNARMED PROTESTERS.
THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO US. I’M FUCKING ANGRY THAT I CAN ONLY SIT HERE AND UPDATE SHIT.
PLEASE REBLOG AND SIGNAL BOOST.
This was the photo right before the break up of the protest.
We are unarmed. We have only our umbrellas.
They started it first. How fucking inhumane.
A child was hit by teargas. A Child.
A monk in the protest literally prayed and begged the police to stop.
Dozens of people are injured from the water cannon.
My friends are freaking there. And I’ve lost contact with them. The last text I sent was to go to our campus because it is safer there.
I’m so angry. Dear international followers, please acknowledge and please boost this post.
I’m sorry for swear words but I just can’t tolerate this shit anymore. I’m ashamed that I can only sit here, translating and donating. But I’m going to keep updating the situation nonetheless.
Please show support to the group of students organizing, เยาวชนปลดแอก, (Free Youth) and spread the word.
⚠️WE NEED YOUR ATTENTION⚠️
This is IMPORTANT because we are facing this crisis in Thailand. The polices are all armed and they use chemical water canon with color, tear gas and also rubber bullets against unarmed peaceful protesters. We had just our bare hands and umbrellas.
Please help us spread the news about what's happening in Thailand.
We’re all having “hard conversations” about racism, police brutality, and #BlackLivesMatter I hope.
You’ve probably noticed that detractors often use the same “racist talking points” in response. Here’s a researched and sourced guide to help you answer, for the times you may get stuck.

Hong Kong police stormed + fired bullets & tear gas at multiple universities all morning
HONG KONG UPDATE 11 NOV 2019
It's now past noon.
Students swiftly fortified their universities and barricaded themselves inside. CUHK, HKU, PolyU among some under attack. Might have missed news in others, but can guarantee at least 3 universities. Quite amazed to see some barricades rivalling the police's screen that they use to shoot behind from.
Police unnecessarily fired copious amounts of tear gas and all types of bullets. When the video zoomed out, it was shown that the students weren't even near - the entire defense line was like aaaaall the way on the other side, so far off that the students were miniatures. They weren't even a threat nor attacking, only returning projectiles when police attacked too aggressively.
Police fired and then left. Having to leave doesn't warrant such firing, especially of chemical weaponry. You don't even do that in war.
But what am I saying? China never follows the international standard. China's standards has "Chinese characteristics".
11/11/2019 - Real Time Update (~8:00-8:30am)
- Background: Friday noon (8 Nov 2019), a HKUST student, Alex Chow Tsz-lok, passed away in hospital after sustaining severe injuries from falling, said to be caused by the force behind police tear gas. People have come out en masse to mourn him, and on Sunday, due to severe vandalism at HKUST, the university cancelled classes today (on Monday). As a result, protests are likely to run rampant throughout the day.
- HK (all over): Roads have begun blocking (by who-knows) since 7am. They are still ongoing.
- MTR: Parts of the East Rail Line (Fo Tan to Lo Wu/Lok Ma Chau segment) and Ma On Shan Line (Shek Mun to Wu Kai Sha have been suspended for the day.
- Students have been reportedly late to school (functions) or even unable to attend, due to transportation inconveniences. (I confess, I am one of the latter.)
- Sai Wan Ho: Cops are on the streets, calling protesters cockroaches. They are using real guns and are firing real shots, some at random people in black passing by. One hit a person in the abdomen on live TV - the cop AIMED.
- CUHK: Roads in, out and within campus have been blocked. Update (8.30am) - all classes have been cancelled.
- Tsuen Wan: Men in Black (hoodies) in the streets.
- Hung Hom: People in black are throwing things down from the overhead bridge, like by the Cross-Harbour Tunnel, bus stop area. The tunnel has been blocked.
Sources: ViuTVu (channel 99), MTR app, my parents
10:30am Update
From my mother's colleague:
Translation:
Also, roads everywhere are blocked, and it took about two hours just go from getting to Fo Tan to leaving Shatin station via bus. Note that these two stations are adjacent to each other on the East Rail Line. Men in Black have also reportedly showed up in the Shatin Bus Terminal, though whether they are Yellow or Blue sleeper agents is unknown.
Update (11am) - They're also suspending service at Shatin Station, and have done so for the past half hour. Service between Yau Tong Station and Po Lam and LOHAS Park Stations have also been suspended for an hour.
HONG KONG UPDATE 4 NOV 2019
HKUST student Chow Tsz-Lok falls from height; critically injured
TRIGGER WARNING: Bl*ood
- Fell from 3rd to 2nd floor, 4 metres.
- Later reports showed that the claim that he was running from tear gas was untrue.
- Many conflicting accounts from news outlets, so read the below 2 timelines with a critical mind.
- Critically injured. Brain shifted to one side. Full list of procedures Chow underwent as of 5 Nov 2019 1108.
- Police deny blocking ambulance for at least 30-40mins, contrary to reports by firefighters, first aiders and the poor man who got brutally beaten up for trying to sidetrack the police so the ambulance could pass.
UPDATE: HE WAS DECLARED DEAD AROUND NOON, 8TH NOV 2019 (FRIDAY, aka yesterday). Then people began mourning, and things got messy… (TBC)
For anyone wondering, I stumbled across a bunch of kids at my school making a quick memorial for the student near the end of lunch hour yesterday. I hadn't know what had happened, but I left a three-finger salute for him. RIP.

Chinese University of Hong Kong student Sonia Ng spoke against torture and s*xual assault against citizens during police detention.
Allegations of r*pe have been running for very long with various implied accounts, and the closest I saw were about 2-3 secondhand accounts where the kids sunk into depression after that (in HK situation, this is pretty close) but this is the first time someone has so bravely stepped up to reveal in public.
On 11 Oct 2019 morning, she clarified on a radio show that she was s*xually assaulted at Kwai Chung Police Stn and not San Uk Ling detention centre as misreported (Chinese grammar vagueness issue). She mentions that she is aware of other reports of s*xual assault at San Uk Ling.
On 10 Oct 2019, Sonia gave the speech as CUHK's vice-chancellor Rocky Tuan was meeting students at a public forum on campus. Throughout the meeting, Tuan made no supportive response and condemned "all violence". The sort of victim-blaming mentality is appalling, because it's blaming a victim for fighting back against a r*pist/robber/thief/m*rderer. When the university heads got up to leave, several students who were still recovering from torture during detention blocked their path and plopped to ground, crying and begging for the heads speak up and showing their injuries. Tuan remained unmoved and did not take any action even as the two university vice-presidents made a move to embrace them. Students blocked Tuan's car and after a while, Tuan stayed and spoke with them for an hour in a closed-door session without media. Tuan then told students and reporters he was touched by the conversation and promised the university would issue a condemnation statement against police violence and set up a committee to listen to student concerns.
After Sonia's speech, the boy who had spoken about torture and s*xual assault at the 27 Sep 2019 anti-San Uk Ling rally spoke up on Twitter. He is a Secondary 5 student at an elite boys school in Kowloon area. He was s*d*mised and gang-r*ped. The boy intends to talk more at one of the upcoming Citizens' Press meetings and testify against one of the white-shirts who s*d*mised him.
I…I think I'm going to be sick. I do not condone gang****, especially after I read an aftermath fanfic of one such… incident (Hetalians - it's the FCGB, be warned).
Excuse me? They did that to a minor? That's it, I think I'm leaving the city where I was born and razed once I'm done with secondary school, uni if I make it that far.
To those disgusting excuses for human beings that think doing that to a kid is a good idea…:
Anyway, we need to yeet the perpetrators to the Andromeda galaxy. Anyone?
Any sort of r*pe should not and never be condoned.
There are many more cases. I have seen two ppl on twitter who each said that their friend's daughter got r*ped at San Uk Ling. One of them said the girl got depressed and just screwed up emotionally and the family at that pt of speaking was planning to send her overseas away from this awful place.
HONG KONG UPDATE 7-8 OCT 2019
This is a patch-up update.
1. (Pic 1-4) Secondary school + University student protest
2. (Pic 5-6) CUHK student harrassed by police
3. (Pic 7) Tai Koo. Last night. Citizens mockingly bowed to HK police like how HKers had to do so to the Japanese imperial army during Japanese Occupation.
4. (Pic 8-10) MTR shuts stations but evidence found that they are lying about damaged train stations. MTR is deliberately shutting stations to inconvenience citizens. Many suspect tactic by HK gov to turn winds of public opinion against protestd.
I knew part 4 is the case since they began to shut down stops. Ugh. Best railway system in the world, reduced to some CCP lackey. At least there are some good-hearted people working for them, evident by the staff member that was severely tortured in that previous post.
And yes, lives of students in a warzone indeed. I see people in masks every school day, all week, since the Mask Law became a thing. In fact, more people seemed to wear masks after the Law became a thing than the day before.
HONG KONG UPDATE 5 OCT 2019: 1400-1700
1. Suspected off-duty police officer (police baton found in his car) tried to murder black-clad citizen by driving car into him

- Attacker pulled out extendable baton (only police should legally possess it) and knife from seat and waved it at victim.
- Victim dodged and the baton dropped onto ground.
- Attacker reversed car and accelerated towards victim, intending to murder him
[VIDEO] Trigger warning. You can see the guy getting hit arnd 0:10.

2. Carrie Lam gives yet another useless speech defending emergency law and anti-mask law.
Citizens march defiantly in Causeway Bay against Anti-Mask Law.
#六大訴求缺一不可
HONG KONG UPDATE 5 OCT 2019: 1630-1930
Police charged at a couple with masks who were just walking slowly together and pounced forcefully with great speed on the man, who fell backwards directly on ground. Not sure if he hit his head. Very dangerous attack.
They were not engaging in any assembly nor "offensive" activity, heck, only 2 persons, they don't even fulfill the minimum 3 person requirement.
Police searched their bags, made them remove masks and beat them with batons. The lady cried. After the police left, people comforted them.
Arrested man with bandana on forehead. His face was not covered. He was not using a mask. Reporter asked why police arrested him, police said they don't know why they are arresting him. Heck?????
Absolutely disgusting. Shame for bringing back the Southern Sung Chinese claim of 莫須有, lit. "perhaps there is (a reason for arrest)". Then again, they've been doing this for months.
HONG KONG UPDATE 5 OCT 2019: 1200
Re: Shooting of 14yo on 4 Oct 2019 night & 18yo on 1 Oct 2019
For the 1 Oct case, police denied any responsibility.
- On 3 Oct, press revealed that police quietly amended procedures manual shortly before 11pm on 30 Sep
- Removed: "officers will be accountable for their own actions"
- Only remaining portion: "Officers on the ground should exercise their own discretion to determine what level of force is justified in a given situation."
- Guidelines on lethal force loosened too.
- Now: Officers allowed to use lethal force when facing assault that causes, or is "relatively likely" to cause, death or serious injury. Omitted any mention of intent.
- Past: Officers required to ascertain "intent" to cause death or serious injury before lethal force can be used.
- Now: Officers allowed "less-lethal" weaponry to use water cannon, sponge rounds, beanbag rounds, rubber rounds, batons.
- Past: Not allowed.
- Police caught on camera planting evidence by taking away the lightweight short PLASTIC PVC tubing and replacing it with heavy long metal rod.
- Journalist Jasmine Leung captured clear and close photo of 18yo before clashes - it was indeed a short PVC tube.
- Officer's gun already drawn and aimed at chest before the 18yo tried to whack gun away on reflex.
- Police then lied at presscon that 18yo was hit on "left shoulder".
- Perhaps police shld retake Biology?
- Officer was obviously calm and steady when he shot.
- Police Chief: "We're not medical professionals." Terrible excuse.
- You'd think seeing that police are allowed to shoot guns, they could tell the diff btwn chest and shoulder???
- Police left 18yo on ground for at least 3 mins while bullet was in his lung.
- Medical sector criticised police as heartless for not caring about golden rescue period.
For 14yo shot on 4 Oct 2019:
- Creepily enough, police are stationed near where he is on bed in the hospital.
- Boy did nothing, was purely a victim.
- Are they going to arrest him, disappear him or intimidate him and his family?
If traffic weren't restricted and I had less schoolwork to finish, I would be out on the streets too. The cops should seriously head back to school and graduate with a worthy certificate for once.
Live round shot in high school student's chest at extreme close range with 0 warning
Videos, trigger warning: violence
HONG KONG UPDATE 1 OCT 2019
First time live round shot at protesters (and not as warning shot).
Form 5 student, critical condition. His friend is at the hospital. Family not located yet.
I've been waiting for this post for an hour. I am frankly horrified, but I have anticipated the usage of actual guns for weeks. Seemed fitting that it would begin on National Day. What a way to celebrate the 'birthday' of the Nation of Our Ancestors - mama, just killed a man; put a gun against his head chest; pulled the trigger, now he's dead!!! (Just saw the footage on Apple Daily)
HONG KONG UPDATE 1 OCT 2019 19:28
Medical sources say bullet missed heart and major vessels of lung. Fragments stop 3cm short of heart. Critical condition in hospital, 3 teachers and 6 classmates waiting tearfully outside operating theatre.
I have expected it today tbvh.

HONG KONG UPDATE 1 OCT 2019
First time live round shot at protesters (and not as warning shot).
Form 5 student, critical condition. His friend is at the hospital. Family not located yet.
It’s happened, guys.
Police in Hong Kong have shot a protester point blank in the chest with live ammunition.
He, like others, weren’t doing anything except protesting his right to democracy, while the police keep escalating their levels of violence against protestors - from pepper spray and tear gas at first to rubber bullets and bean bag bullets and batons and water cannons - shooting out a veterinarian surgeon’s eye at point blank, shooting at journalists (an Indonesian journalist was hit in her eye two days ago) and tear gassing journalists so they can’t record what’s happening.
It’s gone beyond police brutality. Hong Kong is on the verge of becoming a police state and it won’t stop until a second Tiananmen.
And at the same time while thousands of our youth are fighting for our dying freedoms in Hong Kong, up in Beijing the dogs of the communist government are giving speeches about strength in unity.
I have no more words - only that as a doctor I know I’ll be seeing more and more of these young protestors in hospital, chained to their beds while we treat their wounds.
The Hong Kong police shot a bullet within one meter, at the left lung of a student protester. He is in critical stage of medical emergency as of now.
