and the fact that she still actively helps Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji during evil summer school

y’all ever think about how Wen Ning, endlessly bullied by people around him, who still wants to be a good person and do the right thing, instead of letting victimhood and vengeance consume him

y’all ever think about how, when Wei Wuxian is dragged into the Wen dungeons, Wen Qing goes to Jiang Cheng’s rooms, to ask if he knows anything and see how she can help

y’all ever think about the fact that Wen Ruohan held not just Wen Ning hostage, but also Wen Qing’s entire Dafan family to secure Wen Qing’s good behavior

y’all ever think about Wen Ning, who people have called cowardly and timid all of his life, and the fact that the first thing he did when he heard of the attack on Lotus Pier was to come with the intent to help the other side

y’all ever think about Wen Qing and the pure terror running through her veins as she performs acupuncture for Wen Ruohan, how often she wonders if she could get away with killing or crippling him before he realizes her betrayal, and the fear when she remembers exactly how much she has to lose

y’all ever think about Wen Ning, and the fact that he unquestioningly chose to help Wei Wuxian retrieve Jiang Cheng, drugged the entire Wen encampment including one of Wen Ruohan’s sons and Wen Zhuliu

y’all ever think about the fact that Wen Ning did all that moments after Wei Wuxian nearly crushed his throat

y’all ever think of Wen Qing, holding a gift for Wen Ning from Wei Wuxian for her little brother’s wellbeing, and the fact that probably no one has ever given either them a gift without hundreds of strings attached

y’all ever think about Wen Qing, breathing a sigh of relief when she and her brother are sent to the Yiling Supervisory Office, that they’ll be away from Wen Ruohan’s immediate surveillance, that they might have a few months to just live and breathe and be 

y’all think about the fact that the first thing Wen Ning does with this freedom is to take off and try and help Wei Wuxian

y’all ever think about Wen Qing looking at Wei Wuxian in the Yiling Supervisory Office, sword pointed at her face by a trembling hand and wild eyes, and the fact that it looks like her heart is breaking because she knows what Wei Wuxian looks like, and it shouldn’t be this combination of despair and desperation

y’all ever think about Wen Ning, who can no longer sleep

y’all ever think about the Wen sibs and the fact that they were asked to make a sacrifice no one else was asked to, to go against their family, their sect, their clan, the allegiance drummed into their skulls from childhood, the debt that Wen Ruohan would never let them forget that they owed, even if he was the one who’d stolen the Dafan yin iron in the first place

“they stood by and did nothing during Sunshot” well no shit, I don’t see anyone else going against the will of their sect when we see what happens to those who disobey (compared to Wen Ruohan, the Lan Sect’s thirty-three lashes are a kindness)

y’all ever think about the fact that Wei Wuxian was the only who recognized the monumentality of the sacrifice they made, and performed the commensurate sacrifice of his own familial allegiance in return

y’all ever think about Wen Ning, and how terrifying it must be to know that anyone can steal your body and will with the shrill of a flute, and how much he trusts Wei Wuxian because of and in spite of that

y’all ever think about the fact that, after everything the world has done to wrong her and her brother, Wen Qing yells at Wei Wuxian to stop killing the Jin sect cultivators at Qiongqi Dao

y’all ever think about how Wen Qing is one of the few people in the world who sees Wei Wuxian beyond his front of swagger and braggadocio, who will do whatever it takes to keep him alive whether it’s protecting Wei Wuxian from himself or from the entire world, out for his blood

y’all ever think about how Wen Ning fought off possession by Baxia in Guanyin Temple, and the fact that he would rather cut off his own fingers than hurt Jin Ling

y’all ever think about the fact that Wen Ning still calls Wei Wuxian Wei-gongzi, not -xiong, not -ge, because Wei Wuxian is still that much of a hero to him

because Wei Wuxian saved his life without asking once, because Wei Wuxian was kind to him once, because Wei Wuxian continues to be the kind of good person that a-jie would tell him about when he was little

y’all ever think about how, in the face of the world, the Wen sibs looked at their choices and made the revolutionary decision to be kind

y’all ever think about Wen Qing and Wen Ning, and how fundamentally good they are
