This post has recently made its way into some radfem circle or another, which is really great because they've been saying very entertaining shit in the reblogs. Like this person who tried to pwn me with an epic zinger

Or the "feminist" who sees it fitting to talk like a Gamergater

And the absolute genius who seems to think that someone making a joke post about something automatically means they genuinely partake in it (with their love for nonsensical and reactionary sexual terminology providing additional evidence of deep and nuanced thinking)

Like I think this sort of response provides an insight into how viciously reactionary the sexual politics of these people are, flying into an indignant fury at the mere suggestion that contemporary normative sexual values are not automatically the "healthy" and "natural" state of all sexuality. There's such an underlying rage and insecurity that an obvious joke has them talking like this; they either got too mad to reach the punchline or they're genuinely scared of the Piss Gnomes. These Rad-Fem responses reveal much more about them then it does the thing they're responding to

But all that aside, this is also just funny to me. Like Tumblr is great because its crop of open reactionaries are all so insanely stupid and pathetic. Their love of empty posturing and meaningless words makes it feel more like I'm trying to communicate with a Spore creature than with another sapient human being. So attempts to threaten and harass just turn into free entertainment. It's not high quality of course, but I guess you get what you pay for

So the dude was a candidate (not elected) for councilor of an extreme right-wing party, and he drove to STF (which is basically our Supreme Court) with a car full of bombs WHILE HE WAS DRESSED AS THE JOKER. And then he tries to throw the first bomb at the Statue of Justice in front of the STF AND THE BOMB BOUNCED BACK.

The stupid ass was the only casualty, even the statue is fine. Motherfucker died like a cartoon character and nobody else was hurt

And you wanna know what was happening on STF that got this dude like this? They were voting if the tax exemption for churches should end.

He details that this will be done by dismantling all college accreditation institutions and replacing them with party loyal Republicans who will ensure universities are granting “fast-tracked” degrees to get people into the workplace.

This is, beyond an obviously fascist move to crack down on dissent and totally destroy the concept of academic freedom, in his own words, “crushing his enemies.” The left in this country retreated into academia for job security, but the humanities as we know them will be gone completely soon. This is not an overreaction, it is literally already happening. Most of my colleagues are already looking for new jobs. For what it’s worth, republicans are very good at identifying and crushing their enemies - the left as a whole has no choice but to exit the academies and enter the workforce. It’s on us to make him regret heightening this particular contradiction.

Runs into the doctor and decides to try and seduce his girlfriend for revenge. While she and the doctor are fighting (doctor thinks she's a boy), they realize his girlfriend's already gone and they get drunk. They start kissing and making out and fall in love (doctor still thinks she's a boy). They accidentally run into each other the morning after and flirtatiously promise not to talk about yesterday's "adventure." Later, the girl reveals she was the boy and teasingly tells the doctor that she'll "break him down." Instead of getting angry, the doctor smiles, knowing he got his ass handed to him, and they kiss again.

I am mere centimeters away from writing a full on essay about how the “goblins are inherently antisemitic” myth spawned by this website propagates misinformation, displays a huge misunderstanding of what folklore is and does, and contributes to an environment that distracts people from how antisemitism actually operates and the ways in which it’s dangerously on the rise in our current climate–something which, surprise surprise, has almost nothing to do with little green fairy men

There are antisemitic iterations of the goblin! There are also antisemitic iterations of basically everything in European folklore, because if there was one thing people in Europe loved it was hating Jews! But those aren’t definitive and the problem there didn’t originate with the invention of the goblin–which was an evolution of other existing fairy myths, overlaps with them, and isn’t nearly as distinct, differentiated, or universally codified as people seem to think. It originated with people hating Jews, and using pre-existing stories and myths to express that hatred. Most of the time, though, they just wrote about Jews, because they didn’t need a secret magical creature code to be terrible to us. They could just do that! The way that people on this website are obsessed with a single, “original” version of a story, which can then be deemed morally acceptable or unacceptable, goes fundamentally against the way folklore is created, propagated, modified, and used to fit different locations at different times. There isn’t a single “problematic” goblin canon you can point to! They aren’t defined that simply! And no, A Certain Popular Fantasy Series doesn’t count! By focusing on the goblin as the problematic thing, and not the stories about Jews that the antisemitic goblin myths–which are rarer than people seem to think–draw off of, the Discourse™ focuses on a single pass/fail signifier of wokeness instead of actually educating people on the complex narratives that have built different iterations of antisemitism over the centuries. It is also, and I cannot stress this enough, not how folklore works. Learn about blood libel, learn about the myth of the Protocols, learn about how antisemitism uses Jews as the powerful other to justify other forms of prejudice and oppression, and don’t write stories about money-obsessed people with hooked noses. Goblins themselves don’t factor into that as anything other than a footnote.
