Darren writes a song. 

The song doesn’t say I love you; the songs says I don’t know how to say I love you. 

Chris doesn’t even catch on the first time. Sometimes when Darren’s writing songs Chris sort of tunes it out; he knows the lyrics and the melodies will both change a dozen times before it’s done. When he’s just fucking around, just zoned in on making music, sometimes he doesn’t even finish one song before he skips to the next. It’s pleasant background noise for Chris while he writes or surfs the internet. 

But he realizes, a couple hours into a rare lazy afternoon in, that Darren’s not only playing the same song but that he’s been playing it off and on for a while now. His attention slips from what he’s writing to what Darren’s saying. 

Darren can tell the point at which he gets Chris’s attention again. He smiles, a little more force and feeling behind the words. He gets to his feet as he hits the chorus and finishes it standing in front of Chris. He’s barefoot, messy-haired, glasses slightly askew, stubble on his cheeks - vibrating with it, shining with the meaning of it. Chris has a moment of fumbling panic and unwanted pressure of not knowing how to reply but it fades with another look into Darren’s eyes. 

“… it’s the hardest thing to say…” Darren’s voice softens. “I try to be a poet, but since I met you…” 

His fingers fall away from the guitar strings and last line is just his voice, prickling at Chris’s skin in a warm and well-loved way. 

i like to think that when blaine first got instagram he got insanely addicted and was always taking pictures of everything like his new bowtie or his coffee cup at the lima bean and kurt found it absolutely adorable until he went to go follow blaine and he saw all these photos blaine had taken of kurt when he hadn’t been looking like the one where kurt had fallen asleep on blaine’s chest when he was supposed to be studying and that time blaine had made kurt laugh so hard he got coffee up his nose and at first kurt wants to be angry because he thinks he looks absolutely ridiculous in all of them but then he notices that all of the captions are always some kind of variation of ‘how cute is my boyfriend’ and ‘i love you’ or just simply ‘<3’ and kurt just doesn’t have it in him to be mad about all of these hideous photos so instead next time he sees blaine he takes his phone and instagrams a photo of blaine looking surprised as kurt kisses his cheek with the caption ‘i love you too <3’

“You took it with you,” is the first thing Chris says when Darren answers the phone.

“Hello to you, too,” Darren responds pleasantly, settling down on the hotel room bed and crossing his ankles.

“Hi,” Chris says in a rush, and then repeats, “you took it with you.”

“Took what?” But Darren grins, tilting his head back against the wall.

“The sweater. The grey one.”

“Well, yeah. I like it.” Darren pauses, grin growing larger. “And it’s mine.”

like i said/we all know, costuming is fantastic. and i believe all this is deliberate.

Kurt/Chris on Broadway

can we all just agree that most of us don’t think blaine is going to propose this season? that it’s just blaine WANTING to propose and THINKING about it? and that we all read the entire article and these lesbian characters are going to be recurring into season five? which means it’s going to be a longer story arc?

and e!online and gobr both said he wants to, not that he actually does this season

i’m more saying this for the sake of some people who are at the wrong end of the spectrum and throwing temper tantrums because “blaine is going to propose to kurt!!! they haven’t even talked!!!” because i doubt blaine is going to propose this season as the storyline is “sweet” and i doubt kurt would say yes THIS season (he will in season 5, but taking off my klainer hat for a second it just doesn’t seem logical just yet) and a rejection doesn’t sound “sweet and topical” to me

but all of that aside some of y’all have to realize that glee rarely ever shows the process and the actual TALKING when these things happen, does that make sense? like kurt and blaine went from a phone call in 8, to spending christmas and being adorable together in 10, to literally having sex at a wedding in 14. they had serious talks in between those episodes. they would’ve had to in order for the story to move along as it did

we just didn’t see them because glee is all about the major checkpoints and happy endings, rather the nitty gritty in between. and i know a lot of people want to see those conversations, to SEE them actually talking about what happened blah blah blah, but there are other characters on this show. it’s not all about kurt and blaine and their little universe. the other characters need time to flourish as well. does that make sense?

anyway, i think some of you need to let go of the “this storyline is moving way too fast!!” thing just because you want to be spiteful for whatever reason because it will have been an 8 month storyline by the end of may. and if my predictions are correct, it’ll go on well into season 5 and then blaine will propose to kurt or SURPRISE kurt proposes to blaine because they’re it for each other and they’re going to be together to infinity and beyond like mr. and mr. buzz lightyear thank you and goodnight

I think for me the most poignant moment of the episode was the silence

It wasn’t the crying or tearful declarations of love in case they died. It was the moments where there weren’t any sounds at all.

Brittany alone in that bathroom stall, silent tears streaming down her cheeks in what is one of the most terrifying moments over. Staying silent because if she doesn’t her life could be over. Her isolation in that moment. Oh my god.

The shots of the stark empty hallways that should be full of people.

Blaine’s silence. The whole lock down, he didn’t say anything at all. At one point he looked like he wanted to say something to the camera, but couldn’t. This is a character that always takes a leadership role and stands up and says what needs to be said. But this time he didn’t say a thing. He didn’t even cling to his friends like everyone else did. He just sat there by himself with his head against his knees.
