Soooo the playthrough is over! My tumblr assigned squad for Pokémon Y has beaten the elite 4 and champion, and it's been quite an experience. This one's a long one, so have a read more.

Okay so today was entirely elite four prep, but this is where we stand going into it tomorrow-

Everyone's level 60, I've rethought some held items, and altered some movesets slightly. I'll be using TMs to prep the specific coverage moves I want before each battle, so those aren't the 'final' movesets per se but you get the gist. Not sure if level 60 will be enough but I've been playing no Exp Share and on set battle this whole time, I'm here for a challenge!

The main thing of note I think is that Bubblegum is now rocking Trick Room- with the exception of Ninjask, this team is absurdly slow and honestly I really should have tried this sooner. But I'm hoping that it'll turn my Aromatisse into a sweeper against Drasna? We'll see!

Because of all my training I'm also now a Duchess at the Battle Chateau which is fun, and I have a fuck ton of berries from all my farming, so I'm set (after I bought excessive amounts of revives and hyper potions too lol).

Tomorrow will be the end of the game! I'll finish up with a post about how it went and my final thoughts on the playthrough and the team as a whole :3

Yesterday was really busy for me so I didn't get tons of time to play, but today I had nothing but time and I've made a ton of progress!

After battling Sycamore in Couriway Town, I breezed through the next route, having no trouble with the 3 rival battles on the bridge either. Explored the final, snowy city, and collected the gym leader from where he was hiding out in the forest.

Wulfric wasn't the easiest gym leader but he definitely wasn't too hard either, Kalos leaders deserved more than 3 Pokémon let's be real.

After that, I explored the final route and went round the world picking up the last items I needed Waterfall for. Then finally, this evening I made my way through Victory Road and stopped just before the Pokémon League.

Here's the team currently:

A good few move changes, plus some significant levelling has gone on! Tsubaki sat out Victory Road because I needed space for my HM user Lapras, Guppy, to do Strength boulders and the like. Also, Bubblegum was a crit magnet in Victory Road I swear, he was knocked out by a crit like 6 times...

For the first time in a while though, things have started to feel challenging again! We've slowly slipped to being slightly under levelled again because I'm not using the Exp Share, so I'm going to have to do a bit more training in the Battle Chateau to get to at least 60 all round I think. I don't wanna make things too easy after all!

I'm also gonna have a good long think about final move sets. There's definitely some moves in here that aren't going to see any use in the league and I want to tailor the team specifically towards the types I'm going to face. Between that and the training, idk if I'll finish the game tomorrow, but it'll definitely be in the next few days! This has been an interesting playthrough for sure lol I appreciate all the weird team suggestions!

Forgot to update yesterday so there's a super update today lol

The team is now really fucking strong! Everyone's level 50 with one exception, most everyone has new moves, and most importantly! Atropa is now evolved! The full squad is all grown up and I'm so proud 🥲

I'm currently thinking about what all their final movesets will be, I want to make sure I'm getting the most coverage possible, but also maintain enough good support and set up moves across the team.

But plot wise, we've made huge progress. Gym 7 wasn't too bad, then I made it through all of the Team Flare stuff (only wiping to Lysandre one time...), and got through the next route and the cave to make it to Couriway Town.

As I'm sort of getting closer to the end of the game, I think I can say this team is solid- but with some flaws. It's hugely on the slow side for one thing, but also like I mentioned, coverage has been a bit of an issue with sometimes coming across Pokémon that are just really awkward to deal with if I'm down the one team member that's a good matchup. Steel types especially have been annoying...

I'll post my full thoughts on each team member at the end though! For now, next up is the fight against Sycamore, then onwards towards the final gym.

Not much of an update today for the Pokémon playthrough, pretty much I got done what I thought I would and made it through Frost Cavern and to Anistar City. We beat Calem again and next time I'll take on the gym!

Everyone's sitting around level 43/44, but no new moves or anything. After this next gym, it's all the Team Flare stuff, so that'll be interesting to see how the team fares against Lysandre...

The team has become hugely more powerful today girliesss!

Molly and Steven have finally evolved! We are a single evolution away from everyone reaching their final forms and that feels good lol

Today was mostly clearing out the Poké Ball factory, then routes 15 and 16 before reaching Dendemille Town, so there was a fuck ton of trainers and everyone has levelled up a bunch which is fun!

Then I got a couple of new moves from the move reminder, hopefully I'll get the chance to try out a Barbaracle sweep sometime soon with Molly. Then I went and bought literally 60 bottles of moo moo milk from a certain hex maniac...

Tomorrow- sliding ice puzzles and maybe making it to Anistar City!

On the 9th day of tumblr assigned Pokémon team, much progress was made! Both Clemont and Valerie have fallen at the hands of this might squad, and the next thing to do will be the Poké Ball factory in the north part of Laverre City.

Clemont wasn't actually too bad, some smart switching and good use of Tsubaki's Dig and Bubblegum's bulk helped us get through. Valerie actually won the first time though! I was being too proud to use too many items and it came down to a sliver of health on Bubblegum vs a sliver of health on her Sylveon. But second time round, having remembered what her squad was like more clearly, I planned ahead more and dealt with her with no issues.

The team? We're all closing in on level 40! And that means that tomorrow may very well be two of the three remaining evolutions... We'll have to wait and see but I'm excited.

Lastly, I've also just been appreciating how good Kalos looks and feels tbh. I feel like the gen 6 games keep a lot of the stylisation of the 2d games that was phased out in later generations somewhat and I miss that! Plus I stand by Kalos having some of the best route themes in the series (but honestly the whole soundtrack is awesome).

So today's Pokémon playing didn't get much in the way of progress done, mainly because I had the rest of Lumiose City to explore and comb through!

It's definitely one of my favourite cities in the series though so I don't mind talking to npcs for random conversations or bits of lore.

The whole team is now level 34 though, ready to go take on Clemont's gym tomorrow. I'm a lil nervous cause I don't really have a great answer to electric types? And Dig won't work on Emolga so a risky Tsubaki sweep is out too. I'll play it by ear and see what happens lol

But what struck me today was seeing and remembering all the unsolved mysteries of the Kalos games... The locked off areas on Route 13, the mystery girl saying "you're not the one", and the hidden message about a meeting in the train station. God I love these weird details in Pokémon games, and it feels almost even more strange and unsettling that none of them have been conclusively explained in 11 years. Still, maybe we'll finally get something in Legends Z-A? Idk but I just really love Kalos tbh

Today was the end of the first week of the Pokémon Y playthrough, day 7, and although not much main story progress was made, the team got stronger!

Both Tsubaki and Bubblegum now have some properly hard hitting stab moves with X-Scissor and Moonblast! Everyone is now over level 30! But most importantly, the team is finished, with Atropa finally joining the squad! It took way longer than I'd like to find a Skrelp with the ability I wanted and a not bad nature (this one isn't good necessarily but it's not a detriment) but we got there in the end.

So after catching Atropa, clearing out Route 12, doing some Battle Chateau training, catching a Hawlucha as a dedicated HM user, and checking up on my berries every now and then (oh yes, I'm berry farming babeyyy) we finally took on the grass gym.

I was hoping for another Tsubaki sweep but Jumpluff's Acrobatics was an okho, so instead Steven set up Curses and went to town. It was cool.

Today was a busy day for the team and everyone got a lot stronger! We finished up training at the Battle Chateau and headed back to Shalour, where I explored and grabbed items, progressed the plot, and fought Calem.

We also swept through Korrina's gym, despite 60% of the team being weak to fighting. Tsubaki got a moment to shine when she swept the gym leader battle after a single swords dance and three aerial aces.

After that, it was time for one more battle with Korrina with the Mega Lucarios (mine is now sat in the box for all time) and made for Route 12. I got surf, grabbed the free Lapras, and made a bee line for Coumarine City so I could get the good rod!

Tomorrow I'm hoping we'll grab the final team member, clear up missed trainers on Route 12, maybe head back to the Battle Chateau for a bit more training, then see about taking on Ramos!

Day 5 of the Pokémon Y tumblr assigned team playthrough had me get through Reflection Cave and over to Shalour City! The team has changed a little bit too, with Skitty evolving into bigger Skitty, and Steven, gnc queen, joining the squad.

But I've taken a step back from the action, heading back to Route 7 to do some training and keep the team competently levelled via the Battle Chateau. Hopefully a little more time there will get everyone ready to take on Korrina!

No major update from the pokemon squad today, I've been too tired and busy to play much, but we did make it from Cyllage City to Geosenge Town! Tsubaki is finally getting a bit of time to shine, and hopefully tomorrow we'll have a more interesting update with a new team member and maybe an evolution?

Day 3! We got to Cyllage City and beat Grant, not least in part to new team member Molly and the newly evolved Bubblegum!

Tsubaki also had an evolution, but hasn't seen much use since because she's not exactly cut out for fighting in the rock gym...

I also made the decision to hold off on picking up my Ferrothorn. I could've got one at Glittering Cave, but I'd only just caught Molly, and didn't want to spread myself too thin training up too many new pokemon at once. There's another opportunity coming right up though, so I'll pick Steven up there!

Day 2 of Pokémon Y and the team has grown threefold! Tsubaki and Bubblegum have joined us and we're about to head out onto route 8, and into coastal Kalos.

Not tons happened plot wise, but everyone is getting stronger, and we're inching our way towards Grant. Tomorrow we may pick up yet more team members!

Well, the playthrough has begun, and I'm leaving off today with my currently only permanent team member, Skitty the Skitty, sat at a respectable level 15. Here she is now!

So far so smoothly, we've just left Lumiose and are heading off on the long journey to gym 2, but along the way we'll be picking up 4 out of the remaining 5 team members! We really did not space out where these pokemon are caught huh?

Shout out to my bestie Frankie who helped me through gym 1 before I could catch Skitty though!

(I've decided to slightly alter Aromatisse's nickname because I don't want the formatting of squishing two words together, plus a brand name I'm not familiar with is a little odd, so bubblegum is a good compromise I thought!)
