What if I told you that the reason it took me so long to realize I was a lesbian and finally come out was in part because of how unwelcome I felt in wlw communities when I identified as bi? And the degree to which I internalized that I couldn’t possibly *be* a lesbian because clearly the lesbians didn’t want me?

#cis lesbian spaces can be really hostile to bi and trans women and so many cis lesbians dont want to hear it#its like any perceived connection to men makes you 'icky' and its really no more complicated than a schoolkid going 'boys/girls are gross!'#just manifesting in a more complex and hateful and subtle way#idk thats just my perspective though#anyway bi women i will always love you youre so fucking valid and gorgeous and biphobia is so so dumb

Linguistics thoughts this morning as I'm thinking about how many names of body parts are also verbs, and the different types there are

There are ones directly related to the physical part- to eye, to elbow, to skin, to mouth

Ones more metaphorical or tangentially related- to shoulder, to stomach, to palm

And ones that are completely unrelated- to arm (coming from 'arms' as in weapons- although that word itself likely stems from carrying weapons with our arms/hands), or to nail (coming from the tool rather than the body parts)

Also interesting is the comparison between kneeing and elbowing meaning to hit something with that body part, whereas to brain someone means to hit on that body part

But there are plenty others I haven't mentioned- to head, to face, to back, to nose, to heel- and I know there are more I haven't thought of

Just interesting I think ^^
