peebles teach me how to be you

can we just talk about this for a minute

because seriously i have so much respect for the adventure time team. they’ve made a successful cartoon that isn’t random poop and fart jokes for a solid eleven minutes. sure, adventure time has its immature moments, but then there’s parts like this.

pb’s backed up against the wall in a position that’s way too common in today’s society. you can tell she’s scared and uncomfortable. so what does she do? she beats the shit out of ricardio.

she doesn’t “play nice”, she doesn’t “let him down gently”, she tears off his limbs and stomps on his face. then ricardio tries to play the nice guy card and she has none of it. it’s refreshing to see something aimed at children that doesn’t state that girls need to be polite and sweet and stand by while someone makes them uncomfortable.

basically, i love this show and i love how it teaches girls something that’ll actually come in handy some day. god fucking bless.

And this is back on the dash again.  Always reblog.

So I’m concerned that people don’t realize just how messed up the situation at Standing Rock really is. The United States signed treaties acknowledging and agreeing that there are certain areas of land that were never ceded to them. These areas do not belong to the United States. They belong to a sovereign nation governed by indigenous people. The land that the Dakota Access Pipeline runs through is not part of the US. It is part of the Lakota nation. That means it is essentially a separate country.

Please imagine if the US wanted to build a pipeline from Washington to Alaska and they went through part of Canada to get there. Canadians protested, saying they have no right to be there and they’re destroying their water, and in response the USA sent militarized police to attack, harass, and harass these protesters, then arrested them for trespassing… on their own land.

That is what’s happening. This is an invasion, and the police are interfering on behalf of a foreign oil company.

ERIC GARNERS STEP-DAD SAYS COP WHO KILLED SON DID SO IN RETALIATION BECAUSE OF ‘VENDETTA’ HE HAD FOR YEARS & COMPLAINT FILED

According to a new interview with Eric Garners stepdad, Benjamin Carr, which we have on videoCarr tells us that police didn’t show up that day because Garner broke up a fight or sold cigarettes; they were there because police had a history of harassing Garner. It was also confirmed with a member of Garner’s family that Eric Garner was frequently harassed by these officers, and it goes much deeper than money. Garner had actually been sexually assaulted by the NYPD, on multiple occasions. In fact, in the choking video Eric clearly says

“Every time you see me, you want to mess with me. I’m tired of it. It stops today. I’m minding my business please just leave me alone,”

Carr even says in the interview that the cops told Garner that the real reason they were confronting him was “a personal matter.” (you can see this clearly in the choking video)

Wait. It gets worse.

officer Daniel Pantaleo, the man who was responsible for Garner’s death, has been sued three times for violating the constitutional rights of other black males in the area, by performing humiliating strip searches and fondling the genitalia of his victims, some of them in public view, including:

  • A lawsuit that was just filed in November and comes from Kenneth Collins, who says in the lawsuit that he “was subjected to a degrading search of his private parts and genitals by the defendants.”
  • An incident where The NYPD paid out a settlement last year to two men who sued the city because Pantaleo forced them to strip naked in public as he “touched and searched their genital areas, or stood by while this was done in their presence.”

So to sum things up:

  1. The NYPD (especially Daniel Pantaleo) have been following/frisking/stopping Eric Garner for years (So a bunch of grown men have been stalking this man for no reason)
  2. Eric Garner stated on several occasions to families and friends that he has been sexually harassed by the very police officer whos has had THREE other sexual harassment lawsuits filed against him.
  3. about a month before his death, Garner stated he was sick of being bullied by these police so he filed a complaint to the NYPD for an incident where they "shook him down for money " and "sexual harassed" him (again).
  4. After multiple tries to confirm this complaint against the NYPD by reaching out to their Staten Island precinct, and their police department they were put on hold for excessive amount of hours, hung up on, and eventually ignored all together.
  5. Several family members and close friends of Garner say that the police were already at the scene before Eric even arrived, ready to cause trouble, and think they were there "to jump him." because of the complaint he filed.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist or a detective to figure out what happened here. This wasn’t just an accident this was a plan.

The Boyfriend Experiment (EXPOSED!!)

How dare she reject you? How dare she not want to give you her number? So you can study ‘Alone. Together.’ How dare she nicely reject you by saying she has a boyfriend so you don’t feel bad about yourself? You’re ‘fucking sick and tired’ of women saying that they have a boyfriend so you’ll leave them alone? Maybe women are ‘fucking sick and tired’ of most men thinking that they are entitled to a woman. Maybe women are ‘fucking sick and tired’ of having to claim they have a boyfriend as it’s the only way most men will leave them alone. This video was put up to ‘expose’ the girl but in reality it actually exposed OckTV for being self-entitled trash.

Wow what trash

On top of the commentary provided above, here we go:

What’s worse:

1) A woman saying she has a boyfriend as a way to avoid being pressured to give out personal information to a stranger who has approached her when she is quite obviously busy.

or

2) A man watches a woman for several minutes, records her without her knowledge, has a friend approach her to determine her relationship status, approaches her, talks to her, and (more than likely) LIES about what he’s studying, then immediately suggests she give him her personal information, time, and that they go somewhere alone. All so he can prove some “point” about women to justify his own fucking misogyny.

Because one of these is a person trying to extract themselves from an unwanted situation as delicately as possible for both parties involved, while the other is essentially stalking, lying in order to gain trust, and recording someone without their permission

DId she lie about having a boyfriend? Yes. Of course she did. In a society where it’s common for men to either not take no for an answer, or to react in a threatening or violent manner to rejection, pleading “boyfriend” is the safest route in most situations, because men are more likely to take that as a “legitimate” no. And to be perfectly frank, this lie isn’t hurting anyone, so acting like it’s some huge betrayal of an unwanted stranger’s trust is the purest essence of douchebaggery.

The fucker of all of this? Pleading boyfriend doesn’t work all the time. Pointing to my wedding ring and saying I was married didn’t work on a random guy on a bus to stop hitting on me, or suggest we go get drinks together. He wouldn’t stop harrassing me (in a way he thought was charming, I’m sure) until I got off the bus, three stops early in a city I didn’t know. I did that for no other reason than to get away from him, and once I felt I was a safe distance away, I just leaned against a wall and cried. The part is, that guy is far from the only one to disregard me saying no when I’ve said I’m married, unless my husband is actually there.

That level of disregard is terrifying. These men don’t respect your personal space, then they don’t accept no in any form. Why the hell wouldn’t anyone do whatever they could to get out of this situation as quickly and quietly as possible?

Fuck this guy and his entitlement. If you think he has some grand fucking point about women being terrible liars, then fuck you too.

  • “toughen up and stop being a baby”
  • “We’re just teasing”

BULLYING IS BULLYING NO MATTER WHO IT COMES FROM.

IT JUST HURTS A FUCKLOAD A LOT MORE WHEN ITS COMING FROM PEOPLE YOU TRUST

FUCK OFF.

this post will often go weeks without a note

YouTube comments aren’t “just the Internet.” They’re not the product of a group of otherwise nice guys who suddenly become evil when they wear a veil of anonymity. YouTube comments are actually a nightmarish glimpse into the sexist attitudes that define the fabric of our own existence in the “real world,” a world that, like YouTube, is owned and dominated by men. The most terrifying gift that the Internet has given us is that it’s shown us how men honestly perceive the world: as a place where women exist exclusively for their sexual pleasure. In the wake of VidCon, and as more and more women start speaking up about the harassment they face online, it’s time to start realizing that our narrative of progress is deeply flawed. Things aren’t getting better for women on the Internet; they’re deteriorating and ignoring the problem amounts to being complicit in it.

"THIS PICTURE WILL NOT CHANGE THE WORLD, BUT I STILL NEED FEMINISM AND I’M GOING TO REALLY, REALLY TELL YOU WHY":

-Because I got called a whore for wearing a short plaid skirt when I was 10

-and because when Nujood Ali from Yemen was 10 she got divorced

-Because black girls’ names became my classmates’ favorite “joke” when I was 11

-and because when an 11-year-old girl in Texas was raped by 18 men the New York Times wrote of how the girl “dressed older than her age”

-Because I started counting calories when I was 14

-and because when Malala Yousafzai was 14 she was shot in the head for trying to go to school

-Because I heard a boy greet a girl with “hey slut” today at age 16 -and because when a 16-year-old girl in Steubenville, Ohio was filmed being raped by two boys at a party while unconscious the CNN reporters talked about how tragic it was because the rapists had such bright futures as athletes

-Because I will have to watch my drink at all bars and parties when I am 22

-and because when CeCe McDonald was 22 she was sentenced to 41 months in prison for defending herself against a man who screamed transphobic, racist insults at her and then slashed her face with a bottle

-Because no matter what age I am the biggest threat to men will still be heart disease, and the biggest threat to women will still be men.

-Because it is not just about me, because it is not just about anger, because it is not just a JOKE, because it is not just about “hating men,” because it is not just about girls with vaginas, because it is not just about ending “slut”, because it is not just about white straight girls in Rookie magazine, because it is not just about writing on backs, because it is not just about the fact that gay men are “fags” but lesbians are “hot,” because it is not just about pictures of thin white girls being the only google image results for the search phrase “beautiful women”, because it is not just about writing signs, because it is not just about what she was wearing or how many times she said yes before she changed her answer to no, because misogyny is not just about one thing and feminism is not just about one thing and it is not just “a trend” and it will not “happen” in just one way.

-And because yes. It is about equality for EVERYONE, but first and foremost it needs to be about equality for girls, because they are not treated equally to men, in every single sense, and you are not going to take feminism away from me and call me bossy/hostile/aggressive and make this about yourself or make it into a joke, because truth be told, I’m not joking and I’m tired of explaining. If you want to call yourself a feminist, you work hard to spread feminism, you do not turn this into a contest of whose struggle is greater and constantly demand to know what you can get out of feminism personally. Feminism is not just about you, or me, it is about everyone. If you’re male and you’re tired of men being stereotyped as hyper-masculine, soulless, sexist, inherent leader-tyrant creatures, then go out and prove the patriarchy wrong and fight for girls, like someone with a soul who believes in equality would. Then, yes, feminism will be about everyone.

I started a survivor support group because in order to create change on campus, we have to take care of each other. - Sarah, Emerson College I protested because my school refused to invesitgate reports of harassment, which it’s required to do by law. - Jasmine, Arizona State University I published an open letter to my university because it ignores reports of sexual and gendered violence, and that is against federal law. - Carolynn, UConn I filed a Title IX complaint because my school didn’t provide the academic accommodations I needed after my abuse. - Wagatwe, Tufts I protested and filed a federal clery act complaint because it is illegal for my college to consistently cover up rape, harasssment and hate crimes. - Nastassja, Dartmouth]
