it ended today and it’s truly a crime to me that seemingly nobody’s brought weapon x-traction to the attention of the non-comic deadclaws fans. it’s the only comic i’ve read that explicitly calls wade pansexual and emphasizes his queerness without it being the butt of the joke. it’s the only thing i’ve ever read that had me genuinely laughing pretty much the whole time. it has some utterly enchanting art. and as of this week and the last it has deadclaws LITERALLY finding each other in every universe

with everything about this comic taken into account i’m so sure that the subtextual intention for it being romantic was there. because like yeah what the fuck is happening in any of this. what’s happening HERE?

why are they so sickeningly domestic. don’t piss me off

This is diabetes-inducing level of saccharine sweetness, my god. They are fucking soulmates.

From the Neil Gaiman: Dream Dangerously 🥺❤ (you can watch it here in US or with US vpn :) <3) (or just this bit on youtube here :))

Neil Gaiman: I miss him most when I get stuck. You know, I'll just be working on something and I'll go, "Oh, this isn't quite it," and all I want to do is just call Terry, tell him what's going on and have him say, "Ah, grasshopper, the answer is there in the question." And I'd go, "Oh, for fuck's sake, Terry, just tell me."

[Image Description of screenshots of text: And then she told me this.

Every Friday afternoon, she asks her students to take out a piece of paper and write down the names of four children with whom they'd like to sit the following week. The children know that these requests may or may not be honoured. She also asks the students to nominate one student who they believe has been an exceptional classroom citizen that week. All ballots are privately submitted to her.

And every single Friday afternoon, after the students go home, she takes out those slips of paper, places them in front of her, and studies them. She looks for patterns.

Who is not getting requested by anyone else?

Who can't think of anyone to request?

Who never gets noticed enough to be nominated?

Who had a million friends last week and none this week?

You see, Chase's teacher is not looking for a new seating chart or "exceptional citizens." Chase's teacher is looking for lonely children. She's looking for children who are struggling to connect with other children. She's identifying the little ones who are falling through the cracks of the class's social life. She is discovering who's gifts are going unnoticed by their peers. And she's pinning down--right away--who's being bullied and who's doing the bullying.

As Chase's teacher explained this simple, ingenious idea, I stared at her with my mouth hanging open. "How long have you been using this system?" I said.

Ever since Columbine, she said. Every single Friday afternoon since Columbine. Good Lord.

And what this mathematician has learned while using this system is something she really already knew: that everything--even love, even belonging--has a pattern to it. She find the patterns, and through those lists she breaks the codes of disconnection. Then she gets lonely kids the help they need. It's math to her. It's math.

All is love--even math. Amazing.

What a way to spend a life: looking for patterns of love and loneliness. Stepping in, every single day, and altering the trajectory of our world. End ID]

The reason Psych is the Important Show of All Time is because it said "friendship is the MOST important thing." Like, yes, the romances were good but the show spends even more time emphasizing and developing the friendships and that's why it rocks. Lassiter and Juliet love and support each other unconditionally without even the slightest whiff of romance and it is SO. REFRESHING. When Juliet almost dies, Lassie sacrifices his favorite gun to save her without any hesitation. He's the one there to hold her while she cries. She's his confidant. She leaves everything she knows behind so he can chase his dream of being chief without reprocussion. That's a deep, wholesome kind of platonic love. They also never had Shawn be jealous of how close Jules and Lassie are - instead, in the final episode, we see Shawn thanking Lassie for loving and supporting Juliet. We simply don't do that jealousy crap here. Lassie and Jules are best friends and that's an excellent thing. And then there's Shawn and Gus. Those characters are narratively and physically inseperable. The show makes it VERY clear that, without the other, neither one is complete. They balance each other and exacerbate each other's hijinks at the same time. They're closer than close and everyone around them just accepts it. It's just the way those two dumb boys are and no one is going to try to get between that. And then, of course, SO many friendships develop over the course of the show. Lassie and Shawn form a begrudging friendship eventually. Juliet and Karen end up bonding more than I think either expected. Friendship is the beating heart of this series and it's presented in a way that is unique and fun and I just don't see a lot of other shows that do it like Psych did.

Friendship means more to the vampires than romance or sex.

The writers have made it abundantly clear that it is not romance, monogamy, sex or even marriage that solidifies a relationship for the vampires. It's friendship.

Laszlo is Nadja's best friend. She was jealous when Laszlo declared Sean as his best friend.

Nandor gave Guillermo his friendship which is a gift he does not give to just anyone. It's special.

Maybe if The Guide was only interested in sex then the vampires would be more receptive to her. Instead she wants their friendship which is why they are so distant from her. Guillermo has earned their friendship whilst The Guide manipulates and schemes. Friendship is where the vampires draw the line because it's the most precious thing in their eternal existence.

We have to remember that the vampires are hundreds of years old. Most likely, sex would lose its charm when you've experienced it thousands of times and romance may lose its appeal when its doomed to end over and over again when one human lover dies after the other.

Whereas true friendship, and even living under the same roof as one another, is meaningful. So I don't think it's that the writers are adamant against Nandermo being romantic, I think we may just be forgetting that eternal life plays a major role here.

Even Nadja was bored of her marriage to Laszlo in season 1. Their romance has its ups and downs but their foundation of friendship is what keeps them happily together forever.

It's not queer baiting. It's not ship baiting. It's not even the writers toying with the audience. It's about creating a show that is oddly deeper than what it appears on the surface. I think writers who lacked integrity would have made Nandermo canon by now because that's what we want.

My point is Guillermo and Nandor could be in a romantic relationship, have sex and hell, even get married. What I'm saying is that those things may mean something to us and even Guillermo because we're human. However, those things may not mean the same to Nandor.

Nandor has probably had thousands of lovers.... and to this day, he still loves John.... his horse, his companion, his best friend. Do you see what I'm getting at here?

Guillermo being Nandor's best friend means that he is the most significant, cherished and loved person in his eternal life. That's what "best friend" means to Nandor. The friendship is what makes Nandermo canon and we have that now.

A kiss or sex or a love confession are the cherry on top but Nandermo went canon in the s5 finale. Maybe that's just me.

One of my favorite things in The Banshees of Inisherin is that we never see what their relationship was like before the story starts

There’s this thing in film scripts where you’re supposed to establish what your world is like before the initiating incident that causes the plot to start, and other than seeing a few minutes of Padraic’s morning before he learns Colm has cut him off, we never see what this relationship was like

We get hints of it, other people in town referring to them as best friends and always together, in moments where Colm forgets himself a minute and lets himself be drawn back into the comforting familiarity of their conversation and they both just fall into this easy groove together, but we as the audience only get hints of this best friendship that’s been lost

I also love that the story happens because they had this relationship, two single older guys who have other friends but are clearly the loves of each other’s lives. That Colm felt if he was going to leave behind music after his death and create a legacy he didn’t need to cut out social interaction, just his interactions with Padraic, because he felt that was where all his time and life was going. And that Padraic was completely upended by the loss of Colm’s friendship despite clearly being good friends with many other people in the town

It just makes for a very unique film where we see these two old friends break off their friendship and we’re never shown what that friendship was like but the depth of it haunts the story in a way we as the audience don’t truly understand
