When Izzy first walked out I was worried that he would be made into a joke that the crew would laugh at

but then he started singing and the dancing began and I realized that he wasn’t meant to be a joke at all. This is the most open and happy we’ve ever seen Izzy and the show treated it that way. Not mocking him but instead celebrating this moment.

When we talk about queer representation it’s usually just focused on queer relationships, but what I love about this episode is it shows other sides of being queer. That moment where Izzy saw Wee John doing his makeup and had a realization that he wanted that too? That is what being queer means to me. The crew singing along and cheering for him? That is what being apart of the queer community means to me.

What i love about this show is that it shows queer joy, not in a sanitized way, but in away that is messy, beautiful, and without any mockery or shame.

can't stop thinking about how salty izzy is about ed falling in love with stede when izzy was literally the person who set them up in the first place. like if he didn't tell blackbeard about stede tricking them on the island with the hostage then blackbeard wouldn't know that he even existed. like izzy could have just not told him, he had no reason to really, especially since it made him look bad. and then ed is like i have got to meet this guy and gets izzy to go after stede, which izzy goes and does but all he tells stede is that "for some inexplicable reason my boss would like a word with you". he doesn't mention blackbeard's name or anything that's all he says. so then when stede is like nah rather not, tell your captain "he can go suck eggs in hell" he doesn't know the captain he's talking about is motherfucking BLACKBEARD because izzy NEVER EVEN TOLD HIM.

but then izzy goes back to ed and tells him that "he's not interested in meeting... i explicitly told him that blackbeard desired his company". which is a fucking lie because not once did he mention the name blackbeard to stede, the only person who does is spanish jackie after izzy has left. and blackbeard is like "interesting... but does he know who i am?". and izzy only goes and says yes even though stede doesn't because how could he if izzy NEVER FUCKING TOLD HIM??

and he could have just left it there but then when ed says "and still he said no?" izzy says that "you can go suck eggs in hell was his response, i believe". and ed is like hmm fascinating.. because if he wasn't interested in stede before he DEFINITELY is now. like literally everyone else he has ever met is afraid of him and runs away from him just because he is blackbeard, but then comes along this random fancy rich guy that goes around calling himself the gentleman pirate who does the exact opposite and actually stands up to him for once. AND who managed to beat one of his best men in a sword fight. like what is there not to love?

and when they finally do meet we get this exchange:

and it's clear that ed is already pretty into stede, even though the only image he had of him before then is based entirely on what izzy told him. which is kinda funny because izzy absolutely hated stede from the start and set out to make blackbeard hate him too, but instead just accidentally made stede out to be this kinda cool eccentric guy who is lowkey badass and who isn't even afraid of Blackbeard Himself. so when ed falls in love with stede and izzy spends the rest of the series pining over blackbeard and sulking about him not being the same anymore it is literally all entirely his fault because he was basically the one that set them up together.
