Saturday part 2
More zoo photos! It was raining the day we went, but the baby elephant was having the best time splashing around in the pool. I don't feel like my photos adequately captured the amount of adorable that was happening there. Also, have this squirrel photo that didn't fit in the other post.
Some photos from the zoo this weekend! The bush dogs were adorable.
Aaaand here are some turtles and lizards at the zoo, too.
Snakes at the zoo! So many snakes.
Zoo birds. And a hilariously creepy penguin, haha.
My friend and I went to the zoo yesterday even though it was stupid cold outside, but it was totally worth it because we got to play with a sea lion. Some zoo workers were sitting in the sea lion viewing area and throwing a glove around while one of the sea lions chased it back and forth in the tunnel. She was also super interested in what was in people's bags and purses and would wait to see if you were gonna take out anything she liked, haha. Pretty awesome.
I didn't forget the tiger! It looked like it was having a good time.
Some photos from the zoo I took today. I think this pretty much cemented getting a new telephoto lens because the one I have isn't very sharp and tends to go crazy with highlights and shadows which is a pain in the ass to fix. Apparently all of the animals decided to poop at the same time today because I had to crop so much of it out D: and I still couldn't get it all, haha. A lot of the big cats were out, too, which was awesome.
When I said I was really behind on photos... These are from my birthday last year in October, haha. Again, at the zoo. I did have my telephoto lens on me for these! All of the animals were out and active that day, which was awesome, especially the parrots being adorable.
Trying to go through some of my piles of photos. I know I said I'd get the PAX ones up and at some point I wanted to get the rest from my trip to Japan, but Tumblr's 10 image limit is kind of hindering that unless I want to spam everyone with like 10 posts in a row. I will at least do a "Favorite PAX Cosplays" post at some point in the very near future, hopefully.
Anyway, here are some birds at the zoo. Look at that eagle being majestic as hell. He knows he's a badass. I did not bring my telephoto lens with me so these are cropped, which I hardly ever do with my photos because I prefer to do as much compositional arranging as possible before taking the shot. I know for subjects I can't actually get close to it is necessary, but it still feels weird to do it. I'm trying to put some money aside for a new telephoto lens that's lighter, sharper, and has a better range than my current one, as well, so bringing it with me when I go out won't be so much of a pain.
Dippin' Dots are still awesome, by the way, if horrifically overpriced. It was stupid hot that day and I had extra cash on me so I stopped caring the moment I saw the booth, haha.
The St. Louis Zoo is doing Fennec Fox Valentine Adoptions, I guess until they run out or don't feel like doing it anymore since Valentine's Day is over, haha. Totally worth it because I get to give money to the zoo AND get an adorable stuffed animal (...like I really needed more), plus some other cool stuff like tickets to the children's zoo so I can see the real fennecs.
They will ship these to you if you're not in St. Louis and really feel like donating for some reason, though the other benefits of buying this won't be as useful, I guess! The zoo is totally free, though, and it's right next to the (also free) art museum in Forest Park, so if you're ever in the area it's absolutely worth a visit!
