This is a cranberry bog (unflooded) it’s how cranberries grow. Once they’re ripe, the blog is flooded and the cranberries harvested.

Basically by using big floaty things to round them all up and then scooping them out of the water.

oh here is a fun lil perspective on cranberry harvesting i never heard about anywhere else. the guy who owns the restaurant right down the road from the farm, who fries our chickens sometimes, is from Boston, with the strongest Boston accent ever, and in a former life before he started slinging reasonably priced barbeque and occasional organic chicken, he was a cranberry farmer.

His farm was on the leading edge of kinda using organic/sustainable pest control methods, and one of the things that they did to keep insect damage down was that they encouraged wolf spiders to live in the cranberry field, to eat the bugs. 

This was all fine and good until they flooded the bog. Now, you don’t just like flood the bog and then go around it in a boat or whatever. No, you use hip waders to get in there and put the big floaty things where they go and get all the berries and such.

Well when you’re in the bog in hip waders, that makes you the tallest thing. Wolf spiders can swim a bit, but they don’t like it, so they’re, quite understandably, looking to climb out of the water onto a tall thing.

So yeah the first interview question he always asked potential cranberry bog harvester hires was “are you cool with spiders?”

“You’d be amazed,” he said to us, shaking his head a little, “how many guys would just straight lie. Like, you think I’m asking you that question to be cute? Nah man you’re gonna have like a hundred wolf spiders trying to climb your eyebrows, you gotta be chill, those wolf spiders are fellow employees. You really gotta be chill with spiders if you’re gonna work a cranberry harvest.”

I want any cranberry farmers reading this to know, really truly know, that “are you cool with spiders” is not a specific enough question for this situation.

There is a difference between being chill with a spider on the wall chilling that you can scoop up in a glass and bring outside where it belongs,

and having A HUNDRED SPIDERS UP TO YOUR EYEBROWS

A little update <3

I still read all of your lovely replies! I have not given up on art my friends! I have even started my own webcomic on webtoon! It’s called Seth In Space and it would mean a lot to me if you would support me there! Love you all and happy halloween!!

I’m so happy to tell you all that I’ve made great progress with my mental health!! To genuinely be able to say that I feel happy is so liberating and free! I know a lot of you are still in that dark place. I’m here to say that it does get better. Much better! I still have some tough days but progress is progress! Be kind and gentle to yourselves. Currently can't shake the idea in my head of Momo going up to Seiko and asking if she knew anything about Acro-Silky (she didn't, much to Momo's disappointment), then spending an all-nighter scouring the web trying to find who she was as a human so she can try to find where her physical body might be so she can pay her respects.

I just realized something about dandadan

I don’t think two men have talked to each other about anything that wasn’t a woman so far

-where the HELL are Okarun's parents? They have neither been seen, NOR mentioned, like, the hell?!

They haven't even had dinner at his first friend/girlfriend's house for dinner, where ARE YOU Takakuras?!

Maybe they’re just really really happy Okarun made a fucking friend? And don’t wanna ruin his friendship cuz they think it’s super fragile and don’t know that his friendships are forged in combat?

Speaking of, what about Aira’s dad? Or Jiji’s parents, are they still in the hospital? Cuz they looked like they got better…is he still living at Momo’s? Did they move back to the city?

same goes for Kinta, btw, and Rin, if she continues to be Part Of The Gang, and also Unji

Also: these kids miss so much school. They cut class to fight aliens and spirits on the reg, they missed an entire week living in a mobile home made of alien tech while Okarun was lying on a fucking deathbed, and NOBODY seems concerned that they just, didn’t go to school or go home or anything for a full week.

Who even told Okarun’s parents where he was? He couldn’t call, he was a ghosty thing, did someone call for him?

These takes are so exhausting.

Because nudity = fanservice = hates women.

Nevervmind that Okarun and Jiji are naked just as often and often more naked (girls at least keep their underwear.

Never mind all the awesome female characters, including the fucking Granny Special Forces unit.

Never mind all the flashbacks that highlight gender-based injustice and oppression.

Never mind that the only actual source of real overt fanservice is Granny Seiko.

Nah, none of that matters. The mangaka who said he set out to create a genuine girls' shonen and only added Okarun to appease Shonen Jump editors* must be a virulent misogynist. Because underwear.
