welp looks like gaiman is on the do-not-go-here list. hope those women are doing okay

I'm still gonna write good omens fanfic because my version of aziraphale and crowley give me more enjoyment than canon, and it feels extra-spiteful now to keep writing my healing-from-sexual-assault series in light of the allegations

but yeah not feeling good about ever chilling near that guy from here on out. if you still want to do fandom from his works, sure, don't let his horrible rl decisions stop you. if you still want to watch his shows and read his books (which is more directly supporting him), iffy but go off I guess. ymmv with how much or what type of engagement is ethical. but for me, he's not an autograph I want to hunt down now

if you think about it, Good Omens and Avatar (the blue people one) have the same basic premise

protagonist(s) must live secretly among a species unlike their own, they must do this by putting their consciousness into a manufactured body that looks like the other species so they can pass as one of them, but oh no looks like the world they're on a mission to infiltrate is actually really cool on its own and the native inhabitants are awesome and protagonist(s) really likes living among them and even has a forbidden love story on the planet, but now the jig is up and the corporation that sent them to the planet is evil and wants to destroy the planet and all its inhabitants for nefarious purposes so now the protagonist has to team up with their newfound adoptive species to save the world

the only difference is one has blue skin, and the other one is gay

found myself really sad today about where the good omens fandom is at these days

I miss the way the fandom was pre-S2. back when everyone's headcanons were so much more open and free and happy, and A&C romance could take any number of shades—or not be in the picture at all, because that didnt take away from their existing friendship

now it's kiss this, final 15 that, angsty gifsets, heartbreaking metas. it's not happy and joyful anymore, and I miss that.

I'm so tired of reading these outlandish theories to explain the final 15. "Maybe the coffee was drugged!" "Maybe Crowley passes something to Aziraphale in his mouth when they kissed!" Etc

Maybe. Maybe the kiss was just awful because they weren't seeing eye to eye, and it was a desperate attempt to salvage things. Maybe it's exactly as it seems.

Maybe the buildup to the kiss was nonsensically written, because Aziraphale already learned in S1 that Heaven is more awful and uncaring than he thought, and he decided to abandon their ideology in order to save the world. He even goes against what Heaven wants in S2, in hiding Gabriel from them! And here he is at the very end, going back to the idea of them being the 'good guys', when he's already learned that they're not, and has been acting accordingly this whole time.

Maybe there's no hidden meaning. Maybe there's no tricks. Maybe it was just bad, for the characters and the audience. Have we ever thought of that?
