hello, welcome! the name's kit! i got terribly self-concious about posting about these movies on my main for really no reason whatsoever, so i made an entire new sideblog for it! yippee! i don't know exactly how long this intense new interest will last for me (although in this moment of time it seems i will be here for the long haul) but seeing how relatively small this fandom is i might as well chip in while i'm here.

feel free to drop in any requests or doodle ideas in my patented query box! no guarantees i'll actually do em but the chances are high

It was from some article/interview with him and while I don't have the context, it amuses me because I can only imagine that it's the result of him having seen the end table, thinking: "I can fit under there", and then doing exactly that.

funny you ask this one bc technically it's already happening hahaha. ive got many drawing ideas and they're quite lengthy is what im sayin

hmmm this is hard. bc there's like so many things i'd like to see! life-threatening adventure stuff, everyday slice of life stuff.... probably something post-canon tho. i think it would be cute to just have doc and marty visit different time periods and get into trouble! so like. sort of the cartoon but if it was actually good.

🎵if you have listened to the musical soundtrack, which song is your favorite and why?

ive really only listened to it front to back once so far (soon to change) and it takes a couple listens for songs to jump out at me when it comes to these things (ex: i used to get stuck looping candy store from heathers until i realized actually the whole entire musical is also a bop haha) but wherever we're going is like. the cutest song ever. the opening number is also pretty catchy, i remember getting jumpscared by the actual theme song as a motif in there! and hello, is anybody home is also really good. bro is going through it </3. honestly might just make a whole separate post to yap about the musical

Watching Back to the Future and the Hill Valley citizens' impression of "Calvin Klein" must be wild. Some kid shows up for like a week dressed like a sailor. Apparently he's the nephew of the local crackpot inventor, and Lorraine Baines' dad hits him with his car. He has his name sewn into his underwear but tries to get people to call him Marty. He hangs around the school but instead of going to class he just has a very strong interest in getting two random students who've never met each other to go to the dance together. All the girls have a crush on him. He steals a kid's scooter and gets Biff Tannen to crash his car in manure. He turns out to be a square who won't smoke or drink or make out with Lorraine, but rumor has it he stole Biff's wallet. Afterwards he collapses while playing guitar at the dance, though he gets back up and finishes playing. He plays a song nobody's heard of, and Chuck Berry plagiarizes it. Biff swears he saw him flying away, and that was the last anyone had seen of him. Thirteen years later he starts a fashion brand.

On November 12th, 1955, a bolt of lightning sent Marty McFly back to the future--and left Doc with a lengthy wait to be reunited with his friend in the natural course of time. But when the third McFly child turns out to be a baby girl, Doc finds himself questioning whether Marty actually resolved the paradox that would have prevented his own existence--and what it means for not only the timeline's continued stability, but for their friendship.

This fic has been 4 years and an immense amount of research in the making, but I am really excited to finally be sharing it with you all. It's maybe my favorite thing I've ever written, and deeply personal in many ways, and I really hope it resonates with some of you, too.

It's also the first story of a diptych (the first told from Doc's outsider perspective and the second from Marty's) exploring a transgender reading of Marty McFly, and in many ways, something of a love letter to transmasculinity and queer history.

Excited to have you along for the ride.

One thing that becomes a little funny if you're thinking about the ways a trans reading of Marty interacts with canon is the fact that Doc is definitely guilty of some frustrating attitudes towards women over the course of the movies (particularly Part II), suggesting that he has so fully accepted the idea that Marty is a boy that he considers him exempt. Gender-affirming, trans-inclusive sexism.

HELP I just watched the ninjago episode Wrong Place Wrong Time and ITS LITERALLY INSPIRED BY BTTF AND I NEVER REALIZED because

1. Lloyd is disappearing from a photograph

2. Sensei Wu says Great Scott!

3. THEY GET THE PAST VERSION OF SENSEI WU’S HELP JUST LIKE MARTY GOT PAST DOC’S HELP

4. They completely mess up time lmfao but they are desperately trying to get it back on track just like bttf

5. when they return to the future they’ve changed certain events!!! just like bttf!!! and they think Lloyd is still gone at first!!! just like Marty thinking the doc is still dead!!!

anyway I died laughing when I realized this

instead of trying to invest a time machine, doc instead tries to invent a way to give people the ability to time travel. his first test subjects in this experiment are spiders, of course >:)

now, marty knows not to touch those spiders. does he know what they're for? definitely not. but he does know that they're completely off limits. thats why when he accidentally breaks their enclosure and gets bitten by one, while doc is out, he doesn't say anything.

during this time, doc had also been inventing a device to help him with productivity in the lab, four controllable robot arms

the rest of what goes on follows pretty closely with the plot of the second spider man movie, i actually took notes on that whole movie once for this. doc doesnt actually learn that martys spider man until the end of the movie, after doc had been trying to kill him for however long. but once he breaks out of the arm's control (and DOESNT DIE!!), doc helps him out in his superheroing.

anyway, because of the extra special time spider juice, marty also has the ability to slightly control time (ie. stop it, slow it, speed it up). he only first figures this out during one of his fights with doc, only because he's right about to be killed. by the end of the movie he can still barely control it. doc helps him figure it out, though.

marty is very much Not Having A Good Time. the super powers part is cool and all, sure, but its also not. hes got no clue whats going on, he cant control his powers, his best friend/father figure/the only one who could fucking help him is trying to Kill him, his relationship is going all poopy because of all the lies he has to tell. its just not a good time. and of course when doc breaks free he feel INCREDIBLY guilty, and no matter what he does to help marty and keep him safe and apologize for almost killing him MULTIPLE time, doc has a very very hard time forgiving himself.

on the bright side though, after jenn learns marty is a freaking superhero and thats why he was lying, their relationship gets better. of course it still has the problems all superhero relationships have, but its still better.

i dont have much to say about the plot because its pretty much just spider man 2 so have a couple other fun facts:

  • needles would probably be harry osborn, though I did just make that up so it can change
  • george is dead. hes the uncle ben. rip
  • marty is definitely able to time travel but wouldnt be able to unless under like. SUPER stressful situations. basically, bttf can still happen in this universe, just with some extra spider garnish
  • if i were to write a fic about this id probably call it "See the Future Through the Haze" which is a lyric from the spider man turn off the dark musical
  • originally, marty could only stop time for as long as he was holding his breath

"Marty finally learns his lesson about messing around with Doc’s experiments, when a mishap with one causes him to gain spider-like super powers. Unfortunately, and coincidentally, another one of Doc’s inventions malfunction, controlling the scientist’s mind and turning him into a supervillain. Marty steps forward to protect the town from this threat, while simultaneously grappling with having to fight his father figure as well as figuring out new confusing powers."
