Veilguard Tumblr Stats: The Results
In December I ran a Google Form looking to compare the official Bioware player statistics to those of the tumblr fandom. I received 3031 unique responses, and am now making the results available to you! This was a solo endeavor and I'm so grateful to every single one of you for your participation! All I ask in return is that we keep it positive: this was a fun project, let's keep it that way!
The results are in graphic form under the cut (alt text is available for every graphic). I have also captioned them with the official Bioware stats for comparison purposes where applicable. You can view the raw data in the form of a Google Sheet here. Please note that these results contain major endgame spoilers.

i feel like a circle mage would have a really skewed idea of money. you haven't been outside since you were five years old so how are you supposed to know how much a gold coin is really worth. mage warden gets let loose at ostagar and steals a small fortune in silvers then comes to duncan and proudly shows him like ":-) look at what i got! do you think it's enough to buy myself a healing potion?"
#also the circle probably has a bunch of stupid rules that they have to unlearn. matilda is trying to show shes well adjusted by stealing#matilda: are you proud of me :-) i didnt ask for permission to use the toilet and took this from alistair's pocket#duncan: you know what. yeah. nobody caught you and that's what matters.

marcus' spider backstory is he got bitten by one that was really venomous a few weeks before act 2 and spent a miserable few days embarrassing himself at the clinic. after that he can't even be comfortably in the same room as a house spider he HAS to kill it. anders insists on taking them outside while marcus watches suspiciously from a distance ready to save him from the vicious house spider if needed.
#idk beginning of act 2 i get the vibe hawke and anders havent spoken for a little while so . marcus has been avoiding him#because he's SO embarrassed about like. probably saying he wanted his mum or something when he had a fever#KILLING his tough guy personality#also that one note isabela leaves at the estate apologising about running into spiders. something happened.#anders does not give a fuck about spiders he lived in a sewer. he'll just pick one up in his hands and carry it outside#while marcus sits there like 😾 do NOT let it BITE YOU.

takes like this (and i see them weirdly frequently?) always make me laugh because like. yeah if this happened irl that would probably be my opinion on the situation. but anders lives in a world where the chantry locked him in a prison for the majority of his life because he can shoot fire from his fingers and he just spent the past seven years killing random people on the street in self defense with no repercussions. this is not the same as your white leftist friend who has never faced danger in their life causing problems by getting overzealous at a protest

I was confused that after returning from prison of regrets, Rook was immediately dragged to a hub meeting. Turns out that after the prison, your love interest insisted that everyone leave Rook alone and send them to rest. And only then there was a meeting.

I wonder how the decision was made to remove this content. This is a scene where LI worries and cares about the player's character. No no no, let's cut it!
I mean, if it's in the localization file and translated into 11 languages, then it was most likely already voiced and implemented in the game.

i DO complain a lot but trust me, i reignited a supernatural obsession a few months before nov 5th 2020 i can withstand ANY discourse and bad takes. until varric's voice actor comes out as bi then goes back into the closet again after 24 hours of people congratulating him on twitter i'll stay sane

the very positive thing is that i thought there'd be a group of people policing mlm romance lucanis and insisting that he should be straight or that he is obviously straight (specifically lucanis because he's fandom's baby) like a reverse astarion or wyll/gale situation (these two weren't #1 fandom favourites though) but it didn't happen. maybe because his bisexuality utilized/worked as a hype/chara advertisement
unfortunately davrin is the one getting this treatment 😞 i literally saw someone call him straight-coded earlier today... though as already discussed that's just racism. lucanis escaping unscathed is definitely surprising, though, especially since he seems to be the favourite romance option of the part of the fanbase that is most likely to do this.
emmrich is kind of getting the astarion treatment a little bit which is even funnier for him. because astarion i can understand people misunderstanding him in a way that leads to writing daddy dom x reader fanfic but emmrich is literally like if a muppet made a wish to become a human / would be perfect playing wallace's posh boyfriend in a gay wallace and gromit film
