My name’s Kiri and I obsess over SWTOR, Mass Effect, and making art

Obsessed with playing Mass Effect over and over again like this story will literally never end in anything but tragedy. Shepard might be an asshole or a saint, a caring friend or a hardened soldier, a complex enigma or an open book, and any combination or in between thereof.

And it doesn't matter because Jenkins always dies. And Ash dies, or Kaidan dies. And Shepard dies. And Shepard lives. And your crew dies. And the little boy is shot down. And Palaven burns. And Illium falls. And earth is ripped apart. And Shepard dies.

You can't save them. Nearly a dozen playthroughs of hard work, an endless uphill climb, and even if you get it picture perfect, take every quest, save every hostage and gun down every bad guy, your reward is the ugly choice, the mirror of war: how many lives will you sacrifice to take one more breath? Will you kill the geth you just painstakingly saved for a single inhale on the charred remains of an exploded station? Or will you let the narrative go the way it's meant to and just let Shepard die?

So Shepard lives, or Shepard dies, and the story always ends the same goddamn way. And you queue up Mass Effect 1 again because you have to.

Keep trying. Maybe it'll turn out this time.

I’ve been playing the Feast of Prosperity missions and I’m just delighted by the concept of these heroes/key political figures running around cooking. Like the Spring event headcanon for me was that my Commander had bought a farm in her retirement as a way of getting away from it all.

Diner dash on Nar Shaddaa? Yes, let’s bring in Cipher Nine. Dark Council member Darth Nox MUST be involved.

Day seven of @jdiknight's SWTOR-tober prompt list! The day seven prompt is The Force: So I wanted to draw Thada and Zilei- which are the characters who's story is most centered around or impacted by the Force itself in my legacy. Also nobody ask me why I decided to use watercolours (the traditional medium I'm the worst at/least experienced with) when I'm already a day late for the challenge. Had to step in with some paint markers anyway to get proper values in at least on Thada's side, but Zilei's not quite the right shade 😭 I really need to learn how to layer and blend watercolours properly HE IS TOO PALE BUT I DON'T HAVE TIME TO FIX IT- I already went into detail about Zilei's relationship to the light side of the Force in Day 2- so I'll mostly talk a little bit about Thada's relationship to the Force. Swtor spoilers up to Echoes of Oblivion under the cut.

Day six of @jdiknight's SWTOR-tober prompt list! The day six prompt is Attachment: So I decided to draw the object my consular is most attached to. A lightsaber she goes through great lengths to keep- occasionally going as far as to risk her own life to keep it. This is her father's old lightsaber- the one she was familiar growing up in the outer rim. He was a runaway Sith who used an old lightsaber he took from a Jedi rather than his own. The three versions of her are her at age 12 (bottom left) when she's separated from him by a Sith he betrayed, her at age 27 (bottom right) when she reclaims the lightsaber still under the impression her father is dead, and finally at 31 (or 36, depending on how you look at it. Thanks Arcann,) (top) when she begins to permanently use it as her second dual-wielding lightsaber. (Previously she only used it as a backup.) I feel like this lightsaber is incredibly symbolic of her attachments- a link to both the people she loves and some of the most traumatic events of her life that she just can't let go of. I had to bite the bullet and finish this digitally since I realised it was going to take way too long to get this peace done while still keeping my general vision for it in my sketchbook- especially since I'm already a day behind. So I scanned it in and gave myself an hour to finish it- although I ended up going a little over that anyway. I think I will definitely revisit this idea though to make a more finished piece with it because I really like the concept! Fun fact: the little bit on the back is a wood carving of a leaf her father attached to the lightsaber. It's a hobby he's had since childhood.

People used to comment on web comics.

People used to comment on fanfiction.

People used to comment on fanart.

People used to comment on OCs.

I hate "content" culture.

I hate "consuming content" and scrolling immediately to the next thing.

People used to be excited about the art that other people created.

People used to want to share that excitement with creators.

I hate this future.

Once someone tagged art that I made with "woah" and I think about it at least once a week. Someone else said "oh neat" once. Someone else WROTE A WHOLE DAMN POEM IN THE COMMENTS. Anyways even just one word can change how someone sees their art. You don't even have to think about it too hard. You could put a keyboard smash and I'd probably cry from joy.

I'm also trying hard to interact more, I understand that it's hard to break away from opening your phone and being in Content Consumption Mode.

I honestly hadn't stopped to think about this until I saw this post... I used to think people would get annoyed if they were notified everytime someone posted a comment on their art. I never thought about it being like fanfiction and that they might appreciate comments. Frick, that means I'm part of the problem on here. Thats gotta change.

Every tag, every comment, every reblog with some kind of reaction/opinion or even just one word. All of these things are precious to creators!

I spent countless hours reading and rereading tags full of love people left under my art. All the people i could gift a laugh to or even inspire with something I made mean more to me then you could ever know.

It's what makes me proud of my art!

And to think that you could have enjoyed my art in silence and I would have never known.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I obsess over any small amount of interaction I get on this website.

Day 6: Attachment

"you know I want you, it's not a secret I try to hide / but I can't have you, we're bound to break and my hands are tied"

Unpopular or not, there are a lot of things I appreciate about the Doc/Knight romance. There's so much I've written, that I'd love to post some time, about their similarities. I view them both as individuals who can't resist running into the fire.

So no wonder they run to each other.

Day 5: Fashion - aka my Sith Warrior and Agent before they became their respective roles, running from trouble on Nar Shaddaa.

I tried Ohuhu markers and honestly don’t love it but at least I have color for once.

On the left we have Valah Isoldas, a Chiss woman exiled for her use of the force on her home planet of Csilla. She and her sister struggled to survive until they found their way to Imperial space. That’s where Valah met Triona Zeidas, and the two instantly connected. Valah hated her force powers and Triona was repressing hers, so they got along excellently.

But all things change—Valah and Triona might have been best friends, but the Emperor’s Wrath and Cipher Nine know better than to reach out.

when you're an infiltration specialist, your wardrobe tends to have reason to expand

everything from armor to suits and dresses depending on the mission

when you enjoy having all those outfits to wear? all the better

enjoy would be an understatement. he loves it, and it's even more fun to figure out where he can hide a knife or two
