I’m training the most Gen Z person I’ve ever hung out with, and in addition to being smart and quick, she’s delightful to me specifically as an Old Person (30). She is so linguistically Gen Z, I absolutely love it. We were talking about a patient of ours who wants to maintain a level of independence that some of the floor think is unsafe, but the patient has a lot of support in the room and frankly this is what the patient values more than anything else so we should support that. But it’s not ideal Fall Prevention. Anyway, we’re talking about this and how day shift will probably not stick to the plan we’ve developed tonight, and she goes, fuming, “pov you’re a nurse advocating for your patient but no one listens to you” and I have just been repeating that to myself for hours
God she’s fabulous. I just got to hear the sentence, “all of our patients seem equally medically stable so let’s go check in with our catatonic girlie first”
