This went in a direction unexpected, but I am totally ok wth.

Wow, this one is unexpectedly wholesome, a nice surprise

I just realized that the catcher’s explanation was entirely free of derision. I heard derision in his explanation because I was expecting him to be arrogant and clout-chasing, but after seeing his reason, I went back and read.

He answered the girl’s question with total respect, and his self-satisfaction had nothing to do with feeling superior to her, but in achieving his goal of making his little brother happy.

I even missed how the catcher was INSISTENT that a shiny Pokémon was essentially no different, no better or worse than any other Pokémon of the same species.

Because he was thinking of his brother, whom he doesn’t love any more or any less on account of his albinism.

Not my usual content, but I made something I wanted to share...

When I say I want to see more intersex representation in art and characters and headcanons, this is what I mean. This is so wonderful I love this, and I'm not even super big into Pokémon. This is a perfect example of intersex representation in non-human characters as well. I always get asks talking about whether species with different sexual dimorphism are automatically intersex, or whether a shapeshifter is intersex, whether aliens are intersex. I also get asks about whether or not it's possible for characters that aren't human to be intersex, or if its disrespectful to call an animal intersex if they have variant sex characteristics. And, all of these questions come from a place of deeply misunderstanding what intersex means. An individual of any species could be intersex, but an entire species is not intersex.

I want to see stuff like this in people's headcanons/fan content, original works, and maybe even someday, in mainstream media. Real actual intersex characters in media make me so unbelievably happy to see. Thank you for drawing this :)

This is from ‘Beasts of Burden’, a really cool comic about a bunch of dogs (and one cat) protecting their town from the supernatural things that threaten it. It’s spooky and sad and really just fantastic. At one point they teamed up with Hellboy. Everyone should read it (if you don’t mind some pretty dark things happening. it is not a cheerful comic but it is a good one).

Hey! So, I loved this comic, and still think about it occasionally, and tonight it was linked to me again with just the right timing so that I hyperfocused and squirreled off to go read everything! They aren’t really numbered well, but the Wikipedia page has a list of them in release order and what anthologies to find them in!

But given that it’s a pain to seek out each one one by one, I’ve got a list of links in order a smidge further down! Please try to support Dark Horse Comics if you can, but if you’re broke like me and still want to read, the Internet is a beautiful place. According to the wiki page, there are at least two more installments to come, scheduled for May 1st and June 5th, but there’s no real update schedule for the series as a whole.

Do note: they are graphic, gory, and sad, with a lot of body horror. But they’re really fantastic.

Beasts of Burden: Animal Rites contains: 1. Stray 2. The Unfamiliar 3. Let Sleeping Dogs Lie 4. A Dog and His Boy 5. The Gathering Storm 6. Lost 7. Something Whiskered This Way Comes 8. Grave Happenings

Beasts of Burden: Neighborhood Watch contains: 10. Food Run 11. Story Time 12. The View From The Hill (the one in this post!)

This is one of my favorite series ever and I’m so glad it’s finally getting proper collections instead of one-off anthology appearances.

Warning, though, the story about Hazel and her pups will *destroy* you.

"The existence of people who've never heard of [insert fandom here] makes me feel old" buddy, there are people who've never heard of just about anything you can think of. On a densely networked site like Tumblr, you're probably at most four or five mutual-of-a-mutual jumps removed from someone who's genuinely never heard of Batman.

I mean, no, but you can more or less guess from the name, right? Like, raised by bats or bitten by a radioactive bat or something, gained the powers of bats (presumably echolocation, maybe flight), fights either crime or, like, aliens or wizards or whatever. Superhero comics are pretty predictable.

Rebageling again because... what gets me most about this interpretation is the softness.  When I read the poem, I read it as exultant and fierce.  The tiger within was the tiger burning bright of another poem’s fame.  The tiger destroyed his cage, and who knew what next now that he was out.

Here, we’re given an answer.  The tiger steps out and is surprised by the soft grass under his feet, delighted, goes wide-eyed with wonder, and leaps into the meadow.  Here, the focus isn’t the cage’s destruction, but getting out, being out, so that the last glimpse we’re given is the tiger now tiny (and joyful!) in the distance, surrounded by the wide green expanse of freedom.
