forever salty that we had a templar/ex-templar advisor to warn us every step of the way that mages were dangerous and evil and untrustworthy but no mage advisor to remind the inquisitor how the templars were abusive, how they would sexually abuse and assault their charges, and how they would rebel if told no to anything
You mean like in DA2? Where your mother was tortured and your BF blows up the chantry? In DA:I you have Dorian, Vivienne, Solas and even Cassandra who are okay with magic, but know it can be abused. Cullen was completely mind fucked and tortured by blood mages, wtf do you expect after that?
1. I don’t give a fuck about the Chantry, who backed the Templars, taught mages to hate themselves, and ignored any cry for help from the aforementioned BF for over a decade before he took any action. Team Anders all the fucking way.
2. Cassandra clearly expresses that she does not trust mages, but will do what the Inquisitor thinks is best. You still get disapproval from her if you take the mages’ side. Vivienne believes the Templars are a “necessary evil” (I’m paraphrasing here) and that mages are dangerous and the Templars only want to protect them. She disapproves of any pro-mage freedom/rights arguments. Dorian cares more about bettering his country and ridding the widespread use of blood magic than the war in Ferelden (not meaning to say it’s a bad thing, it’s just the truth). Solas is the only one who seems to give a shit. Nice try, though. ¼.
3. Cullen was not “mind fucked and tortured” by blood mages. He was handed over to demons and expected to give in to his own temptations. Ya know who else was handed over to demons and expected to give in to their temptations? Literally every single Mage who has passed their Harrowing. I’m gonna use the Cullenites’ favorite word here, in saying that that is an extremely ableist argument.
