Hey Nonny!  I drew you some Andrew and tried to capture my process. Click the pics for explanations. My sketches are pretty messy but that’s ok bc I only use them as a vague guideline. After this i add the first layer of (desaturated) colors and work from there by layering more and more (and different) colors. Once I’m happy with the rough coloring, I start to define things and add details. As for some tips: Try not to concentrate on only one area while painting! You’ll tire more easily of your motive if you stare at the same spot for too long. And don’t be afraid of desaturated/ muddy colors. They help to create a more realistic lighting, especially for skin tones.

Pls note that I’m not an expert! I started painting two years ago (if I’m not mistaken), then gave up on it for a long time, and picked it up again December 2015. I still have a lot to learn and the things that work for me might not work for you. Keep trying different things and combine techniques of several artists. It’ll take some time to get used to it but it’s worth it, I promise.

Did you ever notice, there is no birds in zootopia? How can this possible, i mean enviroment, ecology and all such things? Can they dreed birds for food? What do you think?

I already knew there would only be mammals because I remembered the creators said there wouldn’t be any birds or reptiles in the movie some months ago

Animals in Zootopia eat insects whenever they need proteins (bug burgers are super famous in the city apparently hahaha) .For the rest, they just eat fruits, vegetables, etc…

Honestly I think birds and reptiles weren’t included because they needed to narrow their choices and focus on a group of animals to make their work easier and gain some time. 

There are 64 different species of mammals in Zootopia which I believe is pretty impressive. It does take some time to make 3D modeling because it includes rendering, shading, etc… (Plus I’ve heard they made researches about how different every fur was and made them very specific for each mammal lmao Imagine if they had characters with freaking feathers , double work!)

Think about it, if Disney decided to make a sequel, it’ll be in the air city, or an aqua city underneath zootopia. OR SOMETHING ELSE.

More possibilities to be explored. More characters, more character designs.
