What's all this drama about some People Convention screwing everybody over? Somebody drop some deets in my box or something. It's been awhile since I've had some drama.
Not to out myself as someone that’s been on tumblr for too long, but I’m so sad to see this new trend of people saying “I like this thing, even though the show isn’t airing anymore.” Like? That’s how things work! Keep enjoying them! Art doesn’t just vanish when it’s not airing, and it wasn’t made to be exclusively viewed live! 10+ years ago, the idea of saying “Ah, I’m still here in this fandom 2 years after the show was cancelled 😳” would have been BONKERS!
All these kids saying “It’s so sad the shows gone,” no it’s not!!! I saw your fanart yesterday! Last week you told me about my favorite character’s music playlist!!! I saw them running around in your AMV!
Where’s the longevity?? It was made for you!!! Not TV!!! It was made for keeps!!! Keep it!!! Please!!! That’s how art stays alive!!!
Hello hello a bit of a weird question but I’m writing a fic lol and I was wondering if you or any of your followers remembered if rumple even cashed in on helping Mary Margaret when she was accused of Kathryns murder? I don’t think he asked her for a favor but it still seems like something he could cash in on. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve seen the show
Oooh... I don't know, Nonny! I can't remember him specifically cashing in on that favor, but I admit I'm not really the best at S1 lore, since I usually pretend that season doesn't exist XD
But I'll bounce the question to my blog and see if any of my friends know!! Keep an eye on the replies in case someone does! ❤️

So I just found this old tumblr. Many of these are spectacular and some of them have ZERO NOTES. I don’t have many followers in the fandom, I just follow and heart, but I thought I’d bring this to the attention of some of the people I know people do follow, like @killian-whump and @cocohook38 and @hooksmoak and @sals86!
I’m gonna reblog a couple more of my favorites, haha. this person is SO CLEVER!
Ahhh... cute! :D
My friend Helen (who is a truly wonderful human being and well-known/respected collector) is selling her signed SDCC exclusive Regina Funko Pop and the prototype of that pop!
Neither will be cheap, due to the value of each item, but if anyone’s interested, please do get in touch with me so I can pass your details along.
She also has some more Once protos she’s parting with.
Never posted the full picture I did for the @hrhzine, amazing project filled with awesome people!
Did Robert Blackman design all the costumes for S7 or was Eduardo Castro apart of some too?
I believe it was entirely Robert Blackman :)
This isn’t a call-out post for any particular character or segment of the Once fandom, because honestly, it happens in ALL corners of the fandom.
I always see people talking about how this-or-that character never got their comeuppance for this-or-that bad thing they did. Or how this-or-that atrocity was never addressed by the other characters. Or if so-and-so knew that other-so-and-so had done this-or-that, they’d never forgive them. How so-and-so shouldn’t be considered a hero, because their good deeds don’t out-weigh the bad. How so-and-so doesn’t deserve a happy ending... etc, etc.
And believe me, I get it when it comes to wrongs delivered on your faves that you feel were brushed under the rug or ignored. After all, I run a blog about all the wrongs done to Killian Jones throughout the series - most of which were never properly addressed OR atoned for. I get it.
Here we see the literal wiping away of immeasurable trauma
But for better or worse, like it or not, the theme of the show is forgiveness. The whole IDEA, that they keep hammering home like nobody’s business, is that it doesn’t matter what sins, atrocities, horrors or wrongs you’ve committed in the past - if you’re doing your best and trying to be a better person (often, even if/when you’re massively failing at it)... The people who care about you will forgive and forget those affronts, and choose to see the very best in you.
Ignoring someone’s past, sweeping their wrong-doings under the rug, forgiving impossibly horrid deeds, giving someone their umpteenth second chance, labeling someone a “hero” for one good deed and ignoring all their shitty ones, NOT holding someone accountable for their former (or even current) sins, not caring or even needing to know that someone’s done something horrible in the past... That’s literally the theme of the show, guys.
And like I said before, I get it. It’s fun to point at your battered and bruised fave and go, “Look how they’ve suffered! And no one cares!!! T_T” and it’s fun to explore their trauma and their suffering further than the show portrayed it. It’s even fun to point at the characters who wronged them and publicly shame them all (insert plug for my whumpers page). But if you’re doing it to the point that you’re using these things to vilify other characters, malign the show’s writing, or get yourself into a frothy, salty state... You might want to take a step back and remind yourself that the very things you’re complaining about are literally the theme of the show itself.
It’s like going into a circus tent and then complaining about how everything’s so circus-like in there. Yeah, Janet, it is - that’s the idea.
Today I’m thinking about surnames.
I’ve said before, and will absolutely die on this hill, that I don’t think Emma and Killian would hyphenate. I think Emma would have NO issues with dumping the “Swan” surname, the name she chose because she had no family, and changing it to Jones. In fact, I think she’d WANT to. Swan was her last name when she was all alone. When she had no one. When she had to fend for herself and couldn’t afford to let anyone inside her sky-high walls. To me, it makes poetic sense that, as a final step in truly letting someone in, she drops the “Emma and Emma Alone” last name and takes his family name as her own.
I think Alice and Robin might hyphenate. Might. I also think they’re just as likely to choose one or the other of their names and stick with it. Although, in that case, I think Mills would be the obvious winner, as that family has more living members and higher social standing. Really, the only Jones around to be honored by Alice keeping that name would be her Papa, and...
Well, we all know I’m a Hooked Queen shipper when it comes to Wish Hook. I believe they were involved in the Enchanted Forest pre-S7-curse and I think they resumed that connection post-curse, and I like to think they’ll get married sometime post-finale. And I don’t see Regina taking his name or hyphenating hers - for several reasons, but chiefly because of social standing. I mean, she’s literally the Queen of the United Realms. I don’t think you GET higher than that, status-wise, so I think him taking her last name would be a given there. And, honestly, I don’t think Wish Hook would give a fig. He’s old newly young, has a fresh new set of choppers life ahead of him... Who cares? It’s just a name. And in light of that, I think both Alice and Killian will happily join the Mills’ fold ;)
But at the end of the day, I think they should all stick a “Von” in there ala Rumple. Hell, don’t even stick it in before the last name. Stick it in the middle of the first name and ditch the last name entirely. Em Von Ma. Reg Von Ina. Kill Von Ian. Al Von Ice. Rob Von In. I CAN DO THIS ALL DAY.
So, uh, follow me here.
What if Once had doubled up on the Killians, like, waaaaay earlier than Season 7? I mean, like, S3 early. Instead of Neal in the cage in the Echo Caves, there’s a Hook Clone in there... and Emma’s like, “This is surprising, but not actually disappointing at all.” and then there’s, like, a Hook/Emma/Hook love triangle and stuff, and then in 4A, Rumple uses the power of the Apprentice’s Hat to somehow create a third Hook, and then there’s three of him running around. And in 4B, somehow Ursula and Maleficent and Cruella have befriended some version of Hook that ended up swept up in the curse and working as a plumber or something, and he came to town with them. Then S5... Like, Dark Hook literally comes to town somehow and sticks around beyond the season as another Hook. And then maybe Emma goes to the Underworld to save her Hook, and finds, like, three others down there playing poker. One of the Hooks saves Milah from the River of Souls and decides to stay down in the Underworld with her and rule the place. And in S6, Hook uses the serum to separate himself from... himself. And Dark Hook does, too, because he wants to get rid of his “weakness” - and Cowardly Deckhand Hook makes his stunning re-appearance and we get to KEEP him. And like, at least three other Hooks use the serum too, because it seems like the thing to do and all the other Hooks are doing it. Oh, and a Hook comes over from the Land of Untold Stories, too. With Liam, because he took his brother there as soon as the Dreamshade got him in Neverland. And Emma & Co. are like, “Aww, you adorable mess of a Lieutenant, we can totally fix him for you” and then ALL the Hooks gather like seagulls around a fishing haul and are like, “It’s a Liam! Look, Other Hook! Look, Other Other Hook! It’s a Liam!!!” And Liam’s just like, really fucking confused and has never gotten so many horribly-wrapped Christmas presents in his life. And then Wish Realm Hook shows up in the middle of S6, all roly-poly and aged and ridiculous, and we get to keep him, too. And then they find another version of Wish Realm Hook in S7, who de-ages himself and experiences that curse, because the world needs the human cinnamon roll that is Detective Rogers, who is even MORE adorably out-of-sorts when he finally arrives in Storybrooke and discovers he has a brother once again and also over a dozen other alternate versions of himself. And at some point, one (or hell, two - we can spare some) of them does some time traveling or something and ages a little, so we also can have some silver fox Killian. Because... reasons. Whatever. Go with it. And so now there’s no shortage of Hooks and everyone is really happy about this situation. Everyone gets to bang a Hook, or duel with a Hook, or befriend a Hook, or adopt one or... whatever else anyone wants to do with a Hook. It’s amazing. The town’s never been happier, and Captain Swan is now “Hooked Captain Swan Captain Hook” and nobody asks any questions, because she’s the Sheriff and she made polygamy with Hooks legal. And the show moves to HBO for obvious reasons.
TV Networks, hire me.
Captain Ceiling
a retrospective
Who are your top ten favourite ouat characters? Just curious!
oooooh goodie! I love curious questions!
Obviously, my favoritest character is Killian, but I think that goes without saying. And, of course, this covers ALL versions of Killian.
My second favorite is Regina. I absolutely love her wickedness and melodrama as the Evil Queen (though flashback Evil Queen will always be superior to S6 Evil Queen, who was a bit too camp for me), but I also love her as the mild-mannered still-evil-but-just-slightly-less-obvious-about-it Mayor Regina. And then when she decides to change for Henry... and she does so, over time and with much back-sliding, but steady forward progress... that’s great, too. And then even once she’s Hero No-Longer-Evilly-Evilly-DOOM Regina, she’s still so much fun to watch, because she’s snarky and sassy and hilarious.
After that, it gets harder to rank them in order, because I just have a hard time quantifying the things I like about each of them and which takes precedence over the others, so I shall present the other eight in alphabetical order!
Also, it’s hard to do, but I’m trying to separate these characters (and those that didn’t make this list) from their relationships with Killian when determining how much I like them. For example, Captain of Hearts is one of my fave ships... but Cora herself doesn’t really interest me too much outside of her interactions with Killian - therefore, she doesn’t make the list.
Alice: Oh, that adorable bunny. I liked her even before we found out she was Wish Hook’s daughter - and then I liked her even more <3 She’s just such a precious ray of sunshine and silliness. I don’t see how anyone could possibly NOT love that beautiful human. And the actress who played her is also a ray of sunshine and precious and lovely. BLESS.
Anna: I loved Frozen, and I liked Once’s foray into that world. I know, I know, I’m supposed to find it cringey and be annoyed by the obvious crossover cash-in to take advantage of Frozen’s wild popularity... but I don’t? I just love it. And Anna is one of the big reasons why. I just love her cheerful optimism and her hilarious quips that come straight out of her mouth without stopping by at her brain first.
Charming: I’m honestly not sure if it’s just that Josh Dallas is Good Guy shaped or if his characters just keep turning out to be likable guys who are masculine and soft in all the best ways, but I really just want to invite him and/or Charming and/or Ben Stone over for Pizza and Game Night and I’m not sorry.
Henry (S7): Don’t get me wrong, I love Kid!Henry and Jared Gilmore’s epic portrayal of him. But he was the quintessential Kid in the show, so most of his storylines were, you know, heartwarming Kid Stuff and his relationships were all Parent/Kid ones or some variation of that idea. But Andrew J. West’s adult Henry brought us all of Kid!Henry’s quirks and uncertainties and craziness in a package I could actually relate to. And he loved 80s music and movies. And he was awkward. And he made great murder boards.
Hyde: Okay, so I loved this guy the moment he showed up on our screens in the S5 finale, and not just because he likes putting people in straitjackets (although that probably did help). Sam Witwer delivered some epic performances here, and was just so. much. fun. to watch. He also pulled some epic WTF faces and had some hilarious moments amidst all the chaos that humanized Hyde and made you kinda sorta maybe totally wanna root for the guy. Then his back story got revealed and it was dirty and terrible and angsty and oh-so-good... and then they killed him off AND I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THEM.
Jefferson: Look, I don’t know who this guy is, since I don’t remember him being in any of the seasons we acknowledge on this blog, but I seem to remember liking him a lot and finding his backstory one of THE best things about The Season That Shall Not Be Named. It was whumpy as hell and disturbing and twisted and horrifying... and I loved it. And he was nuts, that always helps. Plus, I have a weakness for all things Alice in Wonderland :)
Mr. Gold: Okay, well, that’s a weird distinction to make. The thing is, I find flashback Rumple too predictable and caricature-y for my tastes, but I absolutely LOVE the unpredictable nature of Mr. Gold. What’s he after? What’s his ulterior motive? Is he working for good or for evil? Well, it turns out it’s neither - he’s working for his own purposes and gives ZERO shits about what that means for everyone else. Which makes him the proverbial Wild Card that keeps the viewer on their toes. And I love him in that role. I do hate that in order to KEEP him in that role for seven seasons, his ultimate characterization and relationships with other characters suffered for it, but I still enjoyed watching him each episode and wondering what he’d do next (and why).
Peter Pan: Oh, Robbie Kay. How he totally took on this role and made it epic and amazing. On re-watching it, you realize just how many of his stunning and chilling one liners (”Let’s play...”) were absolutely done for effect and had no bearing on the plot whatsoever, but who even cares? Pan was one of those rare villains you love to hate and hate to love in equal measure. Push it too far to one direction, and the villain ceases to be scary. Push it too much in the other, and you just literally want their stupid face off your TV screen already.
So that’s it! My own little hodge podge of favorites :D For the most part, I tend to prefer side-characters, villains, and guys who get whumped with angsty back-stories. Near-misses for the list were Cruella and Dadmo Nemo.
Storybrook Marblelympics Teams (2/2)
10. Black Dragons 11. MerMarbles 12. GuylinerGliders 13. SpeedySpots 14. Tentacools 15. Naughty Hams 16. Blue Menace
These are so neat!!! And thanks for representing us whumpers!!! :D
The two plot holes/unfinished stories that bothered me the most in Season 7 are:
1) Why Gothel wanted to keep Alice in the tower. It makes no sense with the rest of her plan (to cast the curse and get back to the grove to rebirth the world). If she wanted them separated because she planned to eventually use Alice’s magic, why leave her in the tower? Why not show up and lie a little and manipulate her into joining the coven early on? Why not approach her even just once before the curse when she was running around and exploring the realms? And if she didn’t originally want to use Alice for her magic, why was it so important that she stay in the tower then? If it was to mess with Killian then, I guess that sort of makes sense but - again - why?! It’d make some sense if it was because she’s bitter about Killian rejecting her. But even that doesn’t really work! Because why wait for so long? Why not wait until Alice was just barely old enough to take care of herself and then separate them? Or why not use Maui’s hook and kidnap Alice herself?
2) Why Drizella and Facilier said that Gothel wanted Rumplestiltskin’s dagger… … Despite the fact that she never makes any actual move for it for the entire season. The two of them mention it at least once each (and Drizella does more than that during the deleted scenes) yet nothing ever comes out of it. And this really irritates me because I feel like if they weren’t going to do anything with it, why not delete the lines altogether? Like they deleted all the other scenes where Drizella mentions it? Not only does Gothel never try and take the dagger, but it’s never even explained why she would want it. She’s already ridiculously powerful, what more could the dagger give her? It literally is so random and little comes and goes with no explanation what’s so ever.
I don’t believe canon ever addressed it, but I assume that Gothel didn’t want Alice freed from the tower because magic is unpredictable, and since the original spell called for Gothel (or someone of her blood line) to be trapped in the tower, she might have been concerned that the tower would somehow suck her back into it if Alice were to be freed. I don’t think she really gave a rat’s ass about Alice OR her magic until she needed another for her coven in Hyperion Heights (and THAT was only because she’d lost Anastasia, who she had planned to use, as well as Tremaine and Drizella, who she could’ve used in a pinch). I think she showed up when she did because Maui’s hook would’ve worked to free Alice, and she didn’t want to take the chance of that backfiring on her. And I think the poisoning of Hook’s heart was just to punish him for putting her out... and also to fuck with him, because she likes fucking with him (don’t we all?).
As for the second one, Gothel likely deceived everyone about her true plans, because genocide is usually somewhat frowned upon, even by many villains, and “I want the Dark One’s ultimate power” sounds a lot more rational at tea parties and villain get-togethers. I mean, as the audience, we know the writers were just trying to keep everyone guessing about who was doing what and why... but I think her being deceptive about her true goals to limit any potential opposition to them makes sense. Tell people you want Rumple’s dagger, they’re like, “lol, race ya to it” but tell them you want to destroy the world, slaughter all of mankind and turn everyone who remains into trees and they're like, “Hey, dying and/or being a tree isn’t actually in my five year plan, so how about no?”
Lillpon’s OUAT Pet Names
The show gives us precious few pet names that characters call other characters that they’re fond of (Emma calling Henry “Kid” or Killian calling Emma “Swan” for example, or even negative ones like “Crocodile” or Regina’s nicknames for Killian). But I think all of us (especially us writers) have some neat head-canons about what the characters call (or DON’T call) each other behind closed doors. So let’s share them! This meme/game is open for everybody from all parts of the fandom, so have at it! And have fun!
From this post by @killian-whump :D
Emma calls Killian… Killian, occasionally Captain Yeah… I just don’t, in my headcanons, see her as adopting a nickname for him. Sometimes stuff like “honey” and “sweetie” want to sneak in, and sometimes they manage to, but overall I couldn’t choose something she would call him in casual situations… Captain is reserved for special occasions ;) NOPEt Names: Hook, after a point. It’s not that anyone’s ashamed of it, it’s just that she’s used to calling him Killian so much that “Hook” doesn’t even slip from her, not even by accident or when she’s emotionally charged. Also Kil, Killy… nopes XD
Killian calls Emma… My love, Swan, Emma* The * is because I kinda wanna copy KW’s answer about him calling her Emma usually in serious or tender moments. Swan is… well, Swan, and I honestly hoped that up until the last moment, we would’d get to see him call her “My love”, but it didn’t happen. Eh. That’s what headcanons are for, and this particular is because he’d keep using the term “love” for other ladies, but Emma would be his love :) NOPEt: Em, Ems, lass. The first two I’ve seen being used in fics by other characters too, particularly Neal, and it’s… meh. “Emma” is already a short name, why tf shorten it to a mere breath. Also, though I don’t hate lass, I find it funny that you can distinguish CS fics that were written before s3 by two points: the (understandable) complete lack of any mention of Liam, and Killian calling Emma lass all the fucking time. Iirc, he only called her that twice in 2x06 and then never again, though before s3 it was the most important CS episode, so I get the trend XD
Killian calls Rumpelstiltskin… Crocodile, Dark One, Gold, directly, and sometimes with his full name when referring to him. He can’t use just any derogatery term with him. They’ve been playing this game for quite a long time now, the rules are set in stone ;) NOPEt: Rumple. Just, just, no. Here’s 600 words why it’s the hugest nope for me. Also anything that’s a “nickname” of the actual nicknames he uses. Look, I love Revenge is Gonna be Mine, but “Croc” simply is not Killian-Jones-like, sorry.
Wish Killian calls Alice… Starfish, love. Doesn’t need much explanation. “Love” is just the same term of endearment he uses casually, and “Starfish” is just the cutest thing a seafaring man could think of <3 NOPEt: Al. In my headcanons it does not exist. As I mentioned in my previous post, I’m not a fan of shortening character’s names, so…
Alice calls OG Killian… Uncle (Killian). To her OG Killian is just the long-lost, also weirdly young, twin brother of her father. So, yeah. Uncle Killian it is XD
Alice calls Robyn... Nobin. Yeah, I don’t think she’d ever drop that XD
OH MY GOD, I can’t believe I forgot to add Alice to my own list!!! Although for the most part, I just stick with the canon nicknames beyond the ones I put on my list. So Starfish, Papa, Nobin, Tower Girl, I love ‘em all. Gimme those sweet, sweet pet names <3
Agreed 100% on Al, too. BIG nope. Maybe even twice as big of a nope as Kil or Killy is... because if I don’t personally see him as the type of person to allow others to shorten his name, I sure as hell don’t see him as the type to shorten his daughter’s name, the name he proudly gave her to honor his dead mother. I mean, duh. Yeah. I'm gonna say twice the nope for me.
Whenever people call her “Al” I always think of Al Borland XD
Lillpon’s Pet Name Pet Peeve
I want to start this by saying I’m not judging anyone anymore and that I don’t think I’m in any way superior for my choices. Just a simple opinion but also a long-winded one.
Inspired by @killian-whump ‘s post about OUAT Pet Names, which I will do myself and post in a while. I honestly want to thank KW though, because that very post prompted me to talk about something I’ve been looking for an excuse to talk about since I joined Tumblr four and a half years ago. Heh. And that is…
I fucking hate the nickname “Rumple”. I hated it from the first moment it was used (I think it was 1x12?) and genuinely hoped they wouldn’t have other characters use it… and then pretty much everyone did. But I thought, “But there must be more people who agree with me, right? … Right?” But then I joined Tumblr and it was completely reversed. I may be the only one on the whole planet that doesn’t use it.
Why, you ask. First, I’m generally not a fan of shortening names of fictional characters. Similarly why I don’t like Killy/Kil for Killian, Em/Ems for Emma… whatever, you name it. It’s really just a personal opinion, but I can get behind it happening, especially for names that… can sound a little weird. And let’s be honest, Rumpelstiltskin is more than a little weird and hard to type all the time, trust me, I know. The thing is, I felt that “Rumple” suddenly cutesified a complex, vicious villain. Something he was at the point where we first heard it in the show… but then we went back and we saw that Milah called him that, his father called him that… and I’d have been fine with that. But seeing something like this
and thinking “I’m going to call him something cute!”… I mean, though I didn’t like it, it kinda made sense for Belle to use it at the point, she was falling in love and wanting to see the best in him. But pretty much everyone else? Huh?
Anyway. It was hella weird to me to see not only people on Tumblr call him “Rumple”, but even people I knew offline. And something you need to know about Greeks is that, like Germans, we’re completely used to long-ass names (probably not Icelandic-like ones, though). So I was very weirded out when I saw other Greek fans use it… actually, all of those I met. Anyway, yeah, it was really weird and I actually needed some time to get used to it. I luckily got used to it pretty clear, but even after all this time, I still can’t bring myself to use it, aside from some tagging purposes *cough*negativity*cough*. I mean it. You can literally search my blog for it, and it will only come up as part of a tag, other people using it, or mention of it as a nickname.
So I’m brought to my second “reason” to not use it… and that’s because Killian doesn’t use it either. Idk, maybe I found a kindred spirit in him when it came to that? He used all kinds of ill-meaning nicknames towards him, only calling him by name once or twice in the whole run of the series (unless when talking about him, where he’d use full Rumpelstiltskin), but never, not once, not even mockingly, “Rumple”.
*record scratch*
*awkward silence*
Sigh… I guess another reason the finale rubbed me wrong… it was because it was the first time we saw Killian use it. After he looks at his “sad ending” book and closes it, he says he’s going to find “Weaver… I mean, our Rumple”. And yes, I noticed it from the first watch, and I’d genuinely hoped I’d heard wrong.
I’d be lying if I said my heart didn’t break just a little bit right then. The one character who had consistently not used that name for good reasons, you’d think, just did and… Especially considering my overall feelings about the relationship between those two… it was kind of the cherry on top. So much for kindred spirit :/
You’ll say, it was such a small thing, why did you care so much. Meh. I did. I have issues.
Anyway. Back to having fun with stuff about the show.
Oh, see, now this is a very interesting post! I love talking about this kind of stuff, although I feel really bothered now, because I forgot to mention how much I dislike Em and Ems in my Pet Names post. Like Kil/Killy and Reg/Reggie, shortening Emma’s name like that just feels wrong to me. In fact, I don’t know if I would’ve admitted this without this post of yours, but I often “nope” right out of fanfics that use any of those. I just feel like there’s little chance that their view of the characters in question is going to mesh well with my own.
But Rumple... I’m on the fence about Rumple, because we’re not entirely sure what the hell kind of name that even IS. Is the whole thing his first name? Does he have a last name on top of it? Or is his name more accurately modernized to Rumple Stiltskin? He introduces himself to Victor in 2x12 as “Rumple von Stiltskin” which, as silly as it is, does imply that he himself considers Stiltskin to be more like a surname than half of a first name.
Honestly, I think I’m okay with the use of Rumple, given the above and also that it’s mostly his family members using it. But I do think the show got a bit lazy with it and just had everybody start using it... and that’s kinda lame. It ruins the whole “special folks using a special nickname” trope I love so much.
But it doesn’t make me half as mad as some other things the show’s pulled, naming-wise. (Ask me about my half-price waffles deep-seated issues with Rogers’ name!)
