I’m terribly sorry it took me so fuzzing long to finally finish the art . But I hope you will like it haha
Oh and yeah, the others NovelRomanceCovers are comming…one day lol (but i’m currently kicking my ass to finish tons of art during those holidays so finger crossed!)
Emma helps Killian take off the hook… or rather, does it for him, because he’s a little distracted.
The whole “Tryst” series will be available as a PDF once it’s done, but if you want to see all the installments as they happen, including the ones that won’t be posted on Tumblr, head over to my Patreon!

Another installment of “Tryst” - and there will be more! I have about 20 pieces done/half-done/planned now. It will be a digital comic/graphic novel eventually, once I get all of the pictures done. Some of them will not be posted online, but they’ll all be collected together to tell a story, in pictures!

Alternative version without tattoos for anyone who wants to see all of Killian’s scars:
excuse me now that i’ve thought about it the straps across the chest are the ONLY way i want him written, ever. i don’t care if it covers the glorious fuzziness a little, i want regina to grab that strap and haul him in with it and then caress the fuzz with a sharp nail while sneering at him and oh dear, i’ve gone full hooked queen
Sorry to bother you, but would you happen to know Killian’s hook works? I’m trying to write a fic but I have no clue how it detaches from his arm/if it detaches from his arm. Thanks!
Well, we know how the hook connects to the brace. There’s a slot in the brace, and the hook has a matching peg in its base that slides into the slot and turns to “lock” into place - sort of like a key. Well, almost exactly like a key - and there’s even a safe on the Jolly Roger that uses that same peg of the hook AS a key to open it. Neat-o.
However… We have never seen how the brace itself works - and what little we DO know or can assume from sheer physics contradicts itself.
Basically, in order for the brace and attached hook to be secure enough on his forearm for him to use it as a weapon (which he does, several times in the series), it would have to be anchored onto his arm very securely. Otherwise, when he swings it at an enemy to knock them out or stabs someone with it - the damn thing would just fly right off of him the moment there was any sideways impact or resistance as he’s pulling the hook OUT of a stab wound.
That kind of anchoring would require straps that secure the brace all the way up the arm itself - and at the shoulder. Probably both shoulders, for extra security and to keep the appendage “balanced” to his body as a whole. The best example of how this kind of brace would work can be seen on Jason Isaac’s portrayal of Hook in 2003′s Peter Pan.
However, we know this can’t be how Hook’s brace is secured, because we often have a VERY clear view of his chest and shoulder/collarbone area, and there are no straps there. So that would imply Killian’s brace is likely similar to this one, but without the straps going across the chest - OR straps going across the back instead of the chest, and connecting to a matching shoulder brace on the other side.
BUT! We also have canon contradicting ALL of that supposition by showing us, in episode 5x08, Killian simply tugging on his brace from the hook end and popping the entire thing cleanly off in order to escape a pair of shackles connecting his wrist and brace. That would imply the brace isn’t attached any better to his forearm than, well, the brace Colin himself wears for the role.
Ultimately… We have physics and common sense at odds with canon in two ways. The brace shown in Peter Pan above is probably the most sensible assumption for how such a brace would work realistically… but Once canon completely contradicts that, and expects us to believe that Hook’s brace is both secured well enough to be of use in fights to the death, but insecure enough to be wiggled out of in about 5 minutes. That’s just… not possible.
So when it comes to writing about the brace… you can pretty much do whatever you want. I mean, no matter what you do, it’s gonna either be at odds with canon or with physics, so… it doesn’t really matter which? I’d just go with whatever works best with your story, but try to avoid any straps going directly across his chest, as that’s a little TOO counter-canon for most people to look past. Have any cross-body straps go across his back, instead.

Summary: Killian doesn’t remember falling through a portal. Now he is injured and trapped in another realm - again - with only an odd stranger for company. Who is she… and why is there something so familiar about her? Takes place between seasons 6 and 7. Inspired by my favorite episode of Doctor Who (spoilers!)
This is a CS-friendly fic; however, it is very Killian-centric. Emma appears in maybe 1/3 of the chapters. Just fyi.
Rated T for language and graphic descriptions of injuries.
Of all the positions in which a person could regain consciousness, sprawled on a beach with one’s hook embedded in a thigh rated among the worst. And Killian Jones should know; in fact, he might be considered an expert on the whole “body meets ground” thing.
Clumsy fingers brushed his forehead, spidering roughly along his jaw before coming to rest against his throat in poor approximation of seeking a pulse. Gritty with salt and sand, Killian’s eyelids were slow to respond; truth be told, the same could be said of the rest of him, or he wouldn’t still be prone, his metal appendage digging an agonizing trench into his leg. With effort, Killian gathered the appropriate obscenities to slur into the sand, most of which came out as muffled grunts. Which quickly became choking coughs when newly-expanded lungs needed to expel the seawater that had collected at some point.
All of this was familiar to him. But… storm? Shipwreck? Killian did not remember any of it.
so there we are, our to boys hanging on the pool with some merman product for photoshoot. It’s also an art that i have finished with the Cintiq13(and not 15 ^^’) and i’m really happy with how it looks! It was based on a request for someone
Frowing at the wound, Emma ignored the profferes needle and thread and carefully placed her hand on the injury. Releasing the tight hold she had on her magic, she channeled it into the wound. In a matter of momments, it healed.

YOU DON’T NEED TO GET DRESSED. EVER.The jury has spoken.(Also: I love how you’ve done his brace and harness <3)
Agreed and thank you. I’ve looked at some old harnesses like this, mine has some license taken but lbr, it needs to go over his shoulders in order to stay on and be useful. I like the reality of it. One of my fav old movies is ‘The Best Years of Our Lives’, Harold Russell (who plays Homer in the movie) lost both hands handling an explosive that detonated while making an army training film. Watching his character (who was injured in the WWII) deal with the loss and the difficulty that went with it always affected me… knowing his struggle was a real one. He had something similar to attach his hooks. He was never looking for pity, it was just his life. Great movie if you haven’t seen it. ❤️ It’s important to me to not sugarcoat Killian’s disability, though he doesn’t dwell on it, it was a traumatic event that affects him every day. It makes me love him more.
Yes, I agree - there definitely needs to be something about the shoulder area in order to keep the brace secure. I really love what you did though, sincerely, because it accounts for the needed sturdiness by going up to the shoulders (and BOTH shoulders, because it would need to cross his torso in some way to really be anchored in place), but you managed to avoid crossing the chest (since we know the harness does not visibly impede the view of the chest of wonders), and the portion above the elbow, with the straps and (most importantly) the buckles connecting it to the lower portion makes sense with how he stretched a bit and tugged a bit and got the whole lower brace to pop off in order to free himself in 5x08. I just feel like you did a really thorough job of accounting for the things we’ve seen and know about the brace in canon - and combining them into something that could actually work.
And I might just check out that movie. It sounds like that man led a really interesting life! <3
You gotta tie it by his elbow if youre gonna bind the left arm. Or bind the right and take his hook.
Yes, I’m a big fan of right wrist to left forearm, especially behind the back. Uncomfortable and relatively secure. A nice classic combo that doesn’t rely on any knowledge about the hook, brace or harness at all. Which is especially handy, since we really don’t know anything about any of those things.
However, for the hook and brace to be as secure as they are at times (like when he’s attacking people with the hook and what-not), there’d have to be a lot of anchoring straps up his arm, at the shoulder and even across his chest. I know when he freed himself from the tree in Camelot, the brace just popped off... but there’s no way it could be connected that loosely and not come flying off on him when he’s in a life-or-death fight with someone.
It’s possible that he has multiple harnesses for the hook, possibly a light duty one for when he’s not expecting to be in a tussle, and a heavy duty one for when he is. In which case, he could’ve lucked out and been wearing the light duty one that day - although that would be doubtful, since they were sneaking into Arthur’s castle at the time they were captured by him, and that seems like the kind of time to break out the heavy duty harness. It’s also possible that the straining faces he was making in Camelot were him stretching to reach and undo buckles on the brace that then allowed it to be removed from the rest of the harness (I still think they should’ve shown us that instead of just having him tug the brace off the way he did).
But really, Camelot escape notwithstanding, it seems most likely that Killian’s brace and harness is something akin to what was shown on Jason Isaacs in 2003′s Peter Pan:
But whatever the case, if the brace is secured onto his body well enough to keep it from falling off or being loose, that means that if you limited the mobility of his right hand enough to prevent him from undoing the brace’s straps and harness, he’d basically be stuck in it and the very straps and connectors on the brace itself could be used against him to bind his left arm. For example, if his right arm is out of commission, one could simply loop some rope through the straps on the brace and tie it to something. The brace and harness are built to not come off on accident, so tugging would get him nowhere - and without his right arm available to undo the buckles holding the harness and brace on... Well, he’s not getting his left arm free.
So really, what I’m saying is... the hook could either be a detriment to binding his left arm... or the cutie might basically come with his own bondage harness already in place and ready to be used for one’s own nefarious purposes. It just comes down to how you choose to see it ;) Glass half full or half empty XD
I maybe spend a little too much time thinking about these things...
Ooooh... No, I hadn’t seen this before! Oooh, so many things to appreciate about this right here... Yum, yum! Thank you for bringing it to my attention!!!
