The trope where a character is restrained and the antagonist is approaching them and they start to panic. The fear in their eyes, their quick breaths, the way they squirm and writhe, struggling against the binds holding them tight. The little sounds of distress, or the louder words they cry at their captor. Could be pleas to stop, that they “don’t have to do this”, increasing in volume and desperation as their tormentor draws ever closer

Do I? Oh anon, you’ve come to the right gal. This is in no way a complete list, I am such a fan of all gag scenarios, gags are just mmmm yes.

When the whumpee is defiant and shouting, won’t shut up, is pissing off the whumper with their noise so the next time they open their mouth a piece of cloth is unceremoniously shoved inside and secured with either more cloth or leather, the whumpee’s eyes widening in shock.
Just the noises of someone trying to talk or scream through a gag, the little grunts and groans, mmph hmmph mmgh
Gags left in for extended periods of time, just because the whumper likes how whumpee looks in them.
Tape gag almost gently smoothed over whumpee’s mouth.
Alternatively, tape gag roughly pressed over whumpee’s mouth.
A gagged caretaker. Send tweet. Screaming for whumpee, trying to beg whumper to take them instead, to stop, trying to comfort whumpee but they can’t.
Used as bait or discovered with a gag in their mouths; maybe they were trying to scream a warning, maybe caretaker gets their own gag and a bag over their head before whumpee can warn them.
Hand gags, the intimacy of it, pulling the whumpee close and whumper presses a hand against their lips and it’s fear that keeps whumpee close. Or maybe they don’t, maybe they still try and scream and whumper feels them screaming.
Bonus points for hand gags: that’s how caretaker discovers them, whumpee frantically struggling to get away from whumper, legs kicking, head thrashing. OR: Whumper tells whumpee to “keep quiet or caretaker gets it” and whumpee has to watch caretaker look for them unsuccessfully and walk away while whumper holds them close with a hand pressed tight over their mouth.
