Recently, I came across someone posting a video of them having coffee in a rainy landscape and captioning it- “Therapy session”.

Yes, therapy sessions can feel good like a steaming mug of coffee in the rain sometimes, but what a lot of people don’t understand is that it’s not always like that.

That therapy, is a *process* that requires tremendous skill on the part of the therapist, and cooperation from the client.

That it doesn’t always feel good. More often than not, you can end up feeling the opposite after a therapy session and that’s okay. It’s not easy to work on yourself like that.

So no. Therapy is not your favorite book. It is not your best friend. It is not your favorite activity. It is not a TV show.

It is a journey carried upon the back of trust, care, and patience among many other things and to reduce it to certain things, people, and phenomena is misleading and unhelpful.

we are often told that after a certain point, things will be better. but seldom do we see that point as something in the present, something tangible. it is always a far-off, distant world that we are 'yet' to experience.

what if the only truth was to find the 'better' in the 'now'? what if future happiness was just another way for society to make a puppet out of us?

i know living in the present is hard, and it takes a lot of effort. but yo've got this. you can do it.
