How do you think people react to the White Wolf’s bard being more aggressive than him? Or is it just common knowledge that bards are inherently feral?

People see Geralt walk into town and they get ready to talk shit but someone pulls them back and goes “he’s got a bard on him, let’s not”

Oxenfurt has an elective on how to use instruments as weapons without damaging them

Other Witchers:

“Oh shit he got a bard? I need one of those”

“Why?”

“Sometimes I get tired after a job ok?”

Having a thought right now, or maybe half or one so bear with me. I guess this only works with the show canon, but that's neither here nor there.

Suppose Destiny is in some way sentient. When Geralt called Law of Surprise, Destiny had chosen Ciri. Thus we have Geralt and Ciri's relationship. Now, I keep seeing people reiterate that Geralt and Jaskier's relationship is not based on destiny, but what if the reason they meet again and again over the years is because Destiny recognized that the only reason Geralt was at Pavetta's betrothal, and subsequently called Law of Surprise, was because Jaskier brought him along. What if, in trying to get Geralt to fulfill his destiny (claim Ciri and fulfill the Law of Surprise), Destiny was using Jaskier's trade as a bard to get Geralt back to Cintra and Ciri?

In this way, Geralt and Jaskier's relationship is based on destiny. As in, Jaskier is destined to run into Geralt over and over and over again, until Geralt returns to Cintra and fulfills his destiny with Ciri.

Idk, as lovely it is to believe that these two idjits travel together and remain friends over the years completely separate from destiny, I can shake the feeling that Jaskier has a more integral role in the story's many threads. In a way, Geralt was right in ep 6. Jaskier was the catalyst for a lot of the situations Geralt finds himself in, including two of his most important relationships, driven by Destiny themselves. That cannot be coincidence.

kitty eyes

based on @punk-jaskier‘s post about kitty eyes and jaskier’s smell because it’s too cute

||

It’s not that Jaskier is stupid or unobservant, he can’t be as a bard, but Geralt can be a bit hard to read even after all this time. It also may the be the case of Jaskier’s stupid crush that prevents him from really looking and focusing on Geralt’s eyes because it’s very easy to drown in them.

All in all, it takes them meeting a whole-ass other Witcher for Jaskier to realize what the hell is happening.

They’re in the middle of nowhere with only the forest and monsters for their company when Geralt stills and starts looking around. Jaskier falls quiet, as after all these years he learned that there are times for silence, especially on the road with a Witcher.

“Geralt?” Jaskier asks quietly, reaching for his dagger. “Okay?”

“Hmm,” Geralt replies and fuck, it must mean that they spend way too much time together if Jaskier can understand what that means. There’s someone following them.

“Geralt of Rivia as I live and breathe,” someone says suddenly and Jaskier does not jump, thank you very much.

He turns around and comes face to face with another Witcher. Carefully, Jaskier inches closer to his friend, grabbing the dagger even tighter. However, it seems like nothing bad will happen as the new Witcher comes closer and he and Geralt man-clap each other’s backs. Because they’re not like normal humans and they do not hug. Of course.

“I’m Eskel,” the man says gruffly, as apparently, all Witchers need to be gruff and annoying. “From the same school as Geralt.”

“Jaskier, Geralt is my Witcher,” Jaskier says with a smirk, making use of what they heard in many villages. He’s no longer the Witcher’s bard. Now it’s the other way around.

“The hell I am,” Geralt snarls, glaring at Jaskier but the bard just smiles and turns to Eskel.

They all make camp together that night, and Geralt goes away to hunt them dinner as Eskel says he’s tired and Jaskier doesn’t even offer to help. That leaves the bard alone with the new Witcher and the fire blazing in front of them.

He pesters Eskel for monster hunt details and the man seems more prone to talking than Geralt, so Jaskier happily scribes everything down, humming a new tune under his breath.

Then, he happens to glance at Eskel when the man is looking at the fire and gasps,

“You have kitty eyes!”

The Witcher looks at him, surprised, and yes, those are definitely cat’s eyes, slits in the light of the fire.

“Is that some unique mutation that you have?” Jaskier asks eagerly, all previous thoughts forgotten. “That’s so fascinating and also very useful now that I think about it, the amount of light that goes into one’s eye may prove crucial on a hunt during the night…”

“It’s a Witcher’s trait,” Eskel interrupts dryly. “All Witchers have it.”

“What.”

He can’t remember the last time his voice was so flat and deadpan but it’s a lot. Since when? Since when do all Witchers have kitty eyes? Jaskier certainly never saw Geralt with them and they spend a lot of time together and…

“Do they,” he starts, a bit breathless now. “Do they react like a cat’s? You know, they get all round and cute when they’re excited?”

Jaskier is almost dreading an answer but Eskel just looks amused. “Yes, they do. Never happened to me but I’ve seen it happen.”

“Oh,” he whispers, stunned.

There’s the reason why he never noticed the kitty eyes on Geralt. They spend a lot of time together and Jaskier just…was there whenever he looked into Geralt’s eyes obviously.

“I need to go.”

He stumbles over his legs and almost trips in his haste to get to Geralt. He can already see the Witcher with 3 rabbits on his arm and Jaskier starts smiling as soon as it happens.

“Geralt!” he calls happily, now paying attention. He sees when Geralt realizes that Jaskier is here and sees how his pupils go wide and soft, round. It’s absolutely adorable and heart-melting.

“What are you doing here?” Geralt asks, gruff as always, but now Jaskier isn’t fooled. He can see his pupils and he knows what it means.

He leans against a tree and fixes his Witcher with a flat if happy stare. “So, now my Witcher, hmm?” Jaskier drawls theatrically. Geralt frowns. “See, I talked to Eskel a bit, and oh boy, was it informative! I found out that Witchers don’t just have gold eyes, they have cat eyes. How come it never came up?”

Geralt tries to stay grumpy but Jaskier knows him and he knows that his friend is uncomfortable. The Witcher shifts in his place and Jaskier’s heart is racing. Maybe he does have a chance. Maybe it’s not that small of a chance too.

“You never asked,” Geralt says and tries to move past him but Jaskier grabs his arm. He knows that the other man can easily break from the hold, yet he stays in place. Suddenly, the behaviour has more meaning.

“I never noticed,” Jaskier admits softly. “Because your pupils are always round when you look at me.”

Silence falls upon them and Jaskier keeps his gaze soft and warm. He doesn’t want to spook his friend, not when Geralt already baulks so easily at any affection or uncertainty.

“Did you ever notice that I smell…like love,” he says when it’s clear that Geralt will stay silent. “I know you can smell emotions, you told me that, but you never mentioned me. I thought it was because you were rejecting me but maybe…”

“You always smell like that,” Geralt interrupts. His gold eyes are almost glowing in the darkness and Jaskier is very very much in love with this man.

“That’s because I always love you.”

The confession falls easily from his lips and Geralt gives a tiny gasp. His pupils grow even bigger, even rounder and Jaskier stifles a squeal of adoration. This man is just too adorable for his own good.

“And you’re always excited to see me. Even when you say you’re not.”

This time, the silence is heavy with anticipation instead of nerves. Geralt lets the rabbits drop to the ground and then he’s pressed against Jaskier and they’re kissing. It’s soft and sweet and a bit unsure still, different than Jaskier imagined it, but he loves it.

The forest is still and quiet around them and Jaskier eagerly gets lost in Geralt’s warmth and gentle touch.

headcanon: Jaskier is really good at knife throwing. Not only is it great for entertainment purposes but it also comes handy in bar fights

Geralt doesn't know this until one day he is fighting a quite strong monster, hears something woosh passed his ear and next thing, this beast is going down with a knife lodged deep in his eye socket.

Jaskier: "You're welcome" *cleans off hands and casually walks off*

“No thanks, I’ll stick with my husband.”

I swear if they don’t put all those golden Geraskier moments between Jaskier and Geralt in the show and we never get to see them share a bed I’ll.. *shakes fist*

Especially that bit where Regis takes care of Jaskier’s wound and tells him how nice his blood smells and Geralt freaks out and draws his sword on Regis and tells him to move away from Jaskier.

If this scene is not featured (I mean not just because it’s Geraskier on steroids but because it perfectly showcases Geralt’s initial mistrust of Regis) in the show it will be a crime against humanity!

Geralt, waiting for the Soft™ to emerge: i just used your name, why aren't you soft yet

Jaskier: oh, Jaskier isn't my real name :)

Geralt:

Geralt: w h a t

Valdo Marx: oh, at last, we meet again

Jaskier, clenching teeth: Valdo

Valdo, doing the same: Julian

Geralt, visibly confused: W H A T

Jaskier: you are literally the worst excuse for a lord I ever did see

Valdo Marx: says the lord, who would rather perform horrible songs about a witcher all day, than perform his duties

Geralt: W H A T

Little piece of a fic I'll probably never write, but the idea just won't leave my head. Biiiig Angst Potential. If someone wants to make this into something, please do.

What if djinns in the Witcher worked like they do in Supernatural?

When Geralt and Jaskier let the djinn escape, instead of Jaskier becoming ill, the djinn puts him in a dream state.

In this dream state, Jaskier is happy, the happiest he's ever been in fact. He's a celebrated bard known all over the continent. He never wants for anything; food, money, adoration. Valdo Marx is barely a thought of the past, grovelling in some village to even be allowed to play in a tavern that barely deserves the name.

But more importantly, perhaps most importantly, Jaskier has the love of a man that he has yearned for over the many years they've traveled together.
