I finally realised why Marco Polo season 2 took 18 months to get released: Zhu Zhu and Lorenzo went to acting classes. I mean there weren't bad in season 1 but their acting has greatly improved.
lol! that could be one reason. another reason which a user hilariously pointed out was that remy hii was growing out his facial hair.
i noticed the difference, too anon. but zhu zhu is so captivating onscreen, she just has this regal aura. i’d love to see her in more roles in the future.

Remember when Jingim was calling out his mother for only caring about the baby and not Kokachin. I wish Kokachin was awake so that she could hear just how much he loved and cared for her. She didn't know the extent of his feelings for her so she couldn't trust him. This is so sad. I wish Marco and Kokachin thing really ended; I hate the fact that they made her love the "white guy" more. I am not against interracial love but the "white guys are better" rhetoric is very popular.
i’m glad he sort of stood up for her? he was disappointed how is mother was solely invested in the fate of the baby and treated kokachin as a baby vehicle (fuck you, writers). i’m just saddened jingim was made a passive in all of kokachin’s struggle and couldn’t honour his promises from ep1
how much do you think marco getting a love interest (kokachin) was probably in part to appeal to the male audience w/ yellow fever?

Kokachin's identity crisis tho. In the last episode, she wanted Marco to say he loves Nergui, not Kokachin. Her face when he called her "Kokachin" instead of "Nergui", it was gut wrenching. She just wanted someone to love her for who she is and not who she is pretending to be. Everyone keeps talking about how Jingim failed Kokachin but Marco also let Kokachin down. When she tried to run away, he took her right back to Chabi. I know he couldn't have known but I am still mad.
i would have actually found kokachin’s identity crisis a really interesting arc if it didn’t intersect with her trauma/rape, like so much could have been expanded on that and her being nergui with marco, and being kokachin with jingim... coulda made for a lot of interesting contrasts imo
instead the males had to let her down AGAIN (remember her fuckboy fiance), because of course anyone with a dick has to have a disconnect with ~female issues

okay sometimes i wonder how much of chabi's abuse toward kokachin was because of kublai saying that she never "did the hard thing", like, he wanted an heir of course but kublai never said anything big about it and neither did jingim (seen in kokachin's distress over her miscarriages). chabi really wanted to prove herself to the khan and did not give a shit on who she hurt to get to it... marco, kokachin, jingim, byanbar (? stable boy?), her kids etc. hoping that s3 will show consequences but idk
if that’s how it all transpired well she fucked up real bad b/c they’re now backed up in a corner with a secret to protect. ngl seeing chabi and kublai’s confrontation at the end of the finale, giving us full frank/claire underwood vibes, was something i admittedly have been wanting to see for a long time but when i remember the reasons why & at who’s expense i just

Argument against Ahmad's 1D villainess: When he saved Chabi from Kublai's verbal and almost physical abuse in the bedroom after the Song Emperor was killed. I believe that he actually loved Chabi. He hated her husband but with her, he was a bit conflicted.
yeah, i can see where you’re coming from. so maybe he has a soft spot for chabi but you gotta wonder if he had given chabi’s fate any aforethought if things unwinded the way he intended them to be. i wish they explored their relationship more but once they made him go full oedipus rex, they took his arc into a place where it could never go back. now it is all what the audience will associate him as, rather than having a reflective and earnest reasoning on his motives

All those Kokajing forehead touching was just too much for me. He just loves her so much and I believe she loves him too. She just couldn't believe that he would choose her, a peasant, over his mother. Also, after her outburst, why did he leave? she was obviously reaching out for help. i believe jingim had to leave on the quest with marco for the counter-raid. i’m assuming he came to kokachin’s tent to say goodbye which was why he walked in on the outburst. and i’m not sure kublai would take it lightly if his son wanted to stay tending to an ailing wife instead of carrying out a mission which could potentially save everyone from jeopardy
