Title: Scattered Popcorn

Author: Raven_Silversea

Rating: T

Pairing: Colonnello/Lal Mirch/Sawada Nana

Prompt: Day 2: Scary Movies | Ouija board

Tags/Warnings: Fluff, Humor, Movie Night, Scary Movies, References to Scream (Movies), Established Relationship

Summary: Nana definitely didn't suggest a Scream movie marathon because she enjoyed the way her two otherwise fearless partners steal her lap blankets to hide under. Why would you suggest such a thing?

Colonnello stares at the TV screen. His hands clutch more than his fair share of the blanket to his chest as he curls into Nana’s side. The blue light of the movie sucks all the color from his face and reflects off his wide eyes. On-screen, Sidney Prescott slowly inches her way over the unconscious Ghostface to unlock the driver side door. He and Lal suck in twin breaths on either side of Nana, their bodies tense like springs pressed to the floor.

HONK! goes the car horn as Sidney’s elbow presses into it, and popcorn goes flying as Colonnello’s knee knocks the bowl with a “Motherfucker!” On-screen, Sidney and her friend wait with bated breath for a reaction from Ghostface. Off-screen, Nana calmly rescues the popcorn bowl, absently snacking on a handful of buttery kernels.

“You’re a fucking embarrassment,” Lal hisses from under the blue quilt she stole five minutes into the movie. Her eyes are just barely visible over where it’s tucked up over her nose. She reaches a hand out from her blanket cocoon and snags a fistful of popcorn and then it vanishes back under the quilt. The only evidence of her movement the quiet sound of popcorn munching.

Nana shifts the popcorn bowl closer to Lal and takes another handful herself.

Colonnello pulls himself out of the hollow he’s progressively tucked himself into over the course of the movie. It’s a quiet moment in the movie- Sidney and her friend have made it out of the car and are now arguing about just running vs discovering Ghostface’s identity. “At least I’m not hiding under- OH MY GOD!”

Ghostface comes out of nowhere and stabs Sidney’s friend- “I knew he was faking it!” Lal hisses-, and the lap blanket Nana had been sharing with Colonnello vanishes from the sudden force of Colonnello yanking it. Nana can’t help but laugh as her boyfriend almost launches himself up and over the back of the couch, gripping the blanket to his chest like a plushie. “WHAT THE FUCK, KORA!”

Pulling out a third blanket from the basket beside the couch, Nana says, “If it’s too scary for the two of you, we can watch something else.” She looks at each of them through her eyelashes, wondering if this will be the moment in their six movie marathon that her partners cry uncle. It’s invigorating in a way, being the brave one. She’d be lying if she said she didn’t keep suggesting horror movies to watch simply for the way these two fearless former soldiers reach for her like she’s their shelter from a storm.

Her partners loudly assert their desire to keep watching the movie, and Nana smiles. There’s a thump from upstairs, and all three go silent, waiting to see if whatever child they disturbed would stay asleep or not.

When no one comes traipsing down stairs with a heavy yawn and a question about what time it was and could they have a snack please, they relax back into the couch and each other. “Who’s scared?” Lal says with a sniff. She carefully pulls her quilt down and folds her hands in her lap. “I’m not scared.”

“I’m not scared either, kora.” Colonnello slides back down onto the couch proper but doesn’t release his death grip on his blanket.

Nana shakes her head with a fond smile and holds the popcorn bowl out to the two of them. “Of course not,” she soothes. “After all, you two are here to protect us from anything that may go bump in the night.”

“Exactly!” Colonnello nods. He frees a hand from his blanket to play with Nana’s fingers and aims a besotted smile at Lal who rolls her eyes but does lean over and kiss him on the cheek.

For the next few minutes, everything is quiet and peaceful. The movie punctuated only by the sound of popcorn.

Then the boyfriend is lowered from the rafters onto the theater stage, hung on the prop like a crucifix, and Colonnello all but jumps into Nana’s lap with a loud “JESUS H CHRIST!” while Lal falls off the couch all together.

Random Encounter

Fon was in Namimori, visiting family… attempting to visit family. He admitted he was more than a little nervous. This was his first time meeting his sister since he helped her escape from the Triads. She had married and had a child since then, and he was so happy for her, but now he was faced with the task of actually meeting said husband and child.

He stood at the entrance to the park they’d agreed to meet in, mask of serenity in place as he waited for his sister’s family to arrive. He tried to block out the delighted shouting coming from the children in the park, not wanting to be reminded of dreams long crushed, but his eyes were drawn to them anyway. His soul filled with longing as he watched the children playing with each other, wishing he had children of his own. Any further thoughts down that path were halted by Lichi dropping from his head to his shoulder and hugging his face. He froze for a few moments before chuckling. The little marmoset was always looking out for him, giving comfort when he needed it.

“Ara, why are you standing here all by yourself?”, a woman behind him asked. Fon turned to the woman and was nearly blindsided by Sky Flames hiding below the surface, just waiting to be Activated. And not just from the woman. The young child in her arms was also brimming with Sky Flames.

There is no possible way I randomly encountered two Latent Skies! The woman smiled at him as he gathered himself enough to be coherent.

“I’m waiting for my family.”, he said, just barely managing to not cringe at the sound of his own voice. Honestly, he should just be thankful that he didn’t have a lisp like Reborn.

The boy gasped before tugging on his mother’s blouse. “Kaa-chan Kaa-chan, can he play with us?”, He asked happily. “If he wants to.”, the woman said to her child before turning to him, “Would you like to sit with us while you wait?”

“Ma’am, I’m not actually a child.” Fon was Sky Struck. That was the only possible explanation for how awkward he was at that moment.

“Hmm. A dwarf?”, the woman asked, not even the least bit shocked, “Or would you prefer Little Person? And the invitation still stands.”

Is it naivety or budding Intuition that has her offering? He really shouldn’t accept, and the part of him that still Rages at Luce’s betrayal and Reborn’s Sky breaking is all but howling at him to stay away, to not get attached only to get hurt again. But another part of him, the one that had him here to meet his sister’s family, the one that wanted a family of his own to protect, had him considering it, and the child’s pleading look wasn’t helping matters…

“My name is Fon,” he started, “and I wouldn’t mind joining you. If it’s not inconvenient.”

“Yay!”, the boy shouted in glee as the woman chuckled, “Tsu-kun is Tsu-kun, and Kaa-chan is Kaa-chan!”

“Hmhmhm. I’m Sawada Nana, and this is my son Tsunayoshi.”

“Tsu-kun just said that Kaa-chan.”

Fon laughed. He couldn’t help it. The boy was so adorable. “It’s a pleasure to meet you both.”

Young Tsunayoshi wiggled in Nana’s arms until she let him down, then he took Fon’s hand and lead him to a sandbox, Nana giggling the whole time. Fon supposed it wouldn’t hurt to spend time with this little family while he waited.

Summary: Nana was used to living life on her own, and on her own terms. Completely alone save for the few strays she took in when she got bored. Lal Mirch was something unexpected, though, and blew her otherwise normal life to smithereens. Namimori and Sawada Iemitsu weren’t much better.

If you give a Kitsune an inarizushi...

Pairing:  Iemitsu/Nana

Prompt: Earth/Flameless Day [supernatural] for @khrrarepairweek

Tags/Warnings: kitsune

Summary:  There was something strange about Sawada Nana. Reborn couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but something about her was off.

There was something strange about Sawada Nana. Reborn couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but something about her was off.

First problem was she married Iemitsu. There were multiple problems with this little issue. It was Iemitsu. Reborn couldn’t stress that enough. Who in their right mind does that? What could she possibly see in that blond idiot? Was she shallow enough to just fall for his looks only? (Because Iemitsu’s looks were the only thing going for him. The man regularly didn’t think things through, and no, it wasn’t an act. Reborn staged enough tests to determine that really was Iemitsu’s personality and way of thinking.)

Second problem was she wasn’t just all quite there. It was as if she didn’t register anything. None of his chaos tendencies or even Tsuna’s high pitched screaming during every tutoring session. It wasn’t exactly ditziness. In fact, Reborn had seen cunning in Nana’s eyes when he had first arrived. It had been a tense moment, until Nana relaxed and let him in a chirpier voice that couldn’t be real.

Frankly it was more like she thought he was beneath her feet, that it wasn’t worth the effort to squash him.

It rubbed him the wrong way.

Lastly, there was this little issue.

Tsuna had fox ears and a tail. It wasn’t an illusion (Reborn checked.) They weren’t always around, but they did pop into existence whenever Tsuna was startled. Which given how timid he was, meant it happened frequently and oftenly.

Nana never remarked on it either and Tsuna pretended that he didn’t magically sprout fox ears and a tail at least ten times a day.

It was time to get to the bottom of this.

-.-.-

“Explain,” Reborn said tersely.

“Hieee…” Tsuna flinched, clutching his soft silvery tail. His fox ears flattened against his head as he hunched down, looking as small as possible.

“Well?” Reborn asked. No one, not even Iemitsu, had mentioned that Tsuna had fox ears and tail that often popped into existence when startled.

“Mom is a kitsune?” Tsuna meekly offered. “And well, I get the ears and tail from her?”

Reborn stared at him blankly. That… that was not the explanation he was expecting.

“And how does the whole town not realize this?” Reborn asked calmly.

“Illusions…” Tsuna mumbled. “I’m not very good at them, but kitsune are master illusionists too. I’m not sure why you can still see them despite my illusions.”

Latent Mist Flames? Or actual supernatural magic? Reborn had a habit of flaring his Sun Flames to break any Mist Flames were around. Just a cautionary paranoia that had saved him from wandering into traps more than once.

“Does Iemitsu know?” Reborn asked. Depending on Tsuna’s answer would depend if Reborn went through with killing the blond haired idiot.

“I-I don’t know?” Tsuna answered. “He hasn’t been home in awhile. Mom never says anything. Until you came I didn’t even know he was alive. But mom once told me that she took the form of a beautiful woman and dad flattered her so much, bribed her with the best inarizushi and gave her the best gifts that she decided to accept his marriage proposal.”

Scratch that. Iemitsu would be dead regardless. Of course that idiot would be the type of person who would marry a kitsune and not know about it. “Very well. I can work with this,” Reborn said.

“W-work with this?” Tsuna said.

“Did you think being a kitsune would get you out of being Decimo?” Reborn asked. “No, it’s unacceptable that you keep breaking your form. I will simply have to train you harder.”

Tsuna gulped.

-.-.-

-Italy-

“Iemitsu!” Lal roared. “Why did we just received a bill for a 1000 euros worth of some sushi!”

“It’s not some sort of sushi! It’s inarizushi!” Iemitsu protested. “And my darling Nana had a craving. Nothing but the best for her!”

“YOU IDIOT!”

Written for the @khrrarepairweek   Day 7 - Mist Day: Bed Sharing | Fake/Pretend Relationship

“What is love?” Lal had asked in the buzz of the wedding, staring at the bridesmaid dress Luce had guilted her into.

“When you meet my wife.” Iemitsu had said, slamming back his drink.

Lal hadn’t expected that particular prediction to come true, that’s for sure.

It started a little like this:

There are only so many years one can babysit a grown man before combusting spontaneously. While Basil had nodded along to these words sagely many a time, it had never quite occurred to him that Lal was among these people.

At least, not until now.

‘’What do you mean ‘a vacation’?’’

‘’I’m leaving, out, so long, arrivederci, bye without the ‘’good’’, Iemitsu!’’ Lal threw her hands up in the air and flung them down again with a smack.

God, she was done with that utter jerkface cry-baby poop-face of a man. She wanted out of this office right now, leave CEDEF headquarters and go the fuck away. She paced up and down in front of his desk.

‘’But you went on the annual CEDEF holiday not even two months ago! Look, I have a picture of you, right here! Aww, look at you! All frowny-faced and shooting at me! We had so much fun! How could you forget our time together? I even wore a onesie for the special occasion!’’

Lal clapped her hands over Basil’s ears, glaring at Iemitsu over his head. ‘’Don’t you dare say that word again, Iemitsu. Basil had nightmares.’’

It didn’t help much, because Basil could hear them just fine. He bit his lip and shuffled a little closer to her side. As always, she generated heat, even through her clothes. A furnace, always warm.

’’Well, the fact remains that you don’t have vacation days left and-‘’

With a thud, Lal threw a pile of papers in front of Iemitsu. ‘’Good thing then that I took the mission of making sure the next assassination attempt on your son doesn’t succeed! All the way in Japan, small town, lovely weather!’’ She smiled, eyes creasing, sugar sweetness dripping off like acid. ‘’So thoughtful of you to keep putting assigning it off so I could pick it up!’’

Iemitsu crossed his arms. ‘’We can’t just go out giving people time off! That’s far beneath your qualifications!’’

Lal raised an eyebrow. ‘’And who’s to say that the God of Death won’t show up at your doorstep? It’d say he’s certainly on my level, wouldn’t you?’’

Her boss’ eyes narrowed. ‘’Oh, he is. But if you’re out on the clock… Then I suppose I’ll just have to take Basil in for the time being.’’

Her grip on the child’s shoulder tightened. ‘’Over my dead body. He’s going with me.’’

Iemitsu pouted. ‘’Aww, you’re no fun, Lalie!’’

She marched them out of the office before she’d do something that would probably traumatise the real child in the room. Like, just imagine for one glorious second, murdering Iemitsu in cold blood and stringing him up on his desk with his own entrails.

Was that- No way. She exhaled slow and careful, before turning around again and meeting Iemitsu’s gaze straight on.

‘’Stop snickering, Iemitsu. It’s about time you wipe your own behind. I’m not doing it for you anymore!’’

With that, the door slammed shut behind her.

Meeting Nana for the first time was like getting struck by lightning. It fried Lal’s nerves, and then left her system just as quickly.

‘’Erm. Hello.’’ God, that wave was awkward. Lal quickly stuffed her hands into her pockets.

Nana was just a woman, she told herself as she herded Basil into the Sawada household, hand on his shoulder. But it wasn’t just that; It was the warm smile Nana gave her when entering. It was the joy she took in cooking. It was the quirky way she put up her hair and-

‘’Lal, darling?’’

God, the first time Nana had said that Lal had nearly gone into fight or flight instinct, but she’d gotten that under control now. Except for that time when she accidentally set the curtains on fire when Nana said it to her while she was lighting the candles, but they’d been ugly as sin anyway. Iemitsu must’ve chosen them; The new ones were much better. That Lal had helped Nana choose those had nothing to do with it.

‘’Yes?’’

Nana walked into the garden, putting a hand on her arm. ‘’It’s not that I don’t appreciate your efforts, but, well… Letting the children run drills is a bit much before school. Would you consider doing this after dinner instead, so they’ll be tired for bed?’’

‘’Oh.’’

This was why Lal liked Nana. There had been some things out there that were not entirely good for her son’s education before Lal arrived- Tsuna had clearly never run a lap in his life- but she always was respectful about the way Lal raised Basil. Lal appreciated that. She’d been raising Basil with her roommate for years, and while Oregano was the one who originally had wanted the child, Lal had very much become his mother as well. She was proud of that, even if her way of raising wasn’t exactly traditional.

God, she’d been glad for Oregano when Iemitsu just showed up out of the blue with a baby of all things. But CEDEF’s childcare left quite a bit to be desired and if Iemitsu thought he was in any way qualified to raise a child, he was even more delusional than she already thought he was.

Looking at Tsuna and Basil chasing each other over the lawn, it really had been the best that Iemitsu had as little involvement in raising both of them as possible. Che, who needed fathers anyway? Lal huffed. Basil had just done fine with two mothers! And so would Tsuna!

…Oh god, she did NOT just think that.

She turned back to the conversation at hand, attempting to pretend her cheeks were not on fire.

Back to the issue at hand. ‘’I could arrange that.’’

Nana beamed like a thousand suns.

Lal felt like fairy lights had replaced her veins, lighting her up from the inside out in a thousand colours, shining their light softly into the night.

‘’What is love?’’

‘’When you meet my wife,’’ Iemitsu had said.

And now, head in her hands as Nana brought the children to school, she cursed Iemitsu and his apparent prophecies. Must’ve been some Giglio Nero blood, as if it wasn’t bad enough already that Reborn had bred with one of those. Aria was already proving to be a major threat to civilization at eight, with her mother’s talents and her father’s sheer need for chaos.

…Speaking of Reborn, Lal was about to make a very bad life decision, but Reborn was her best friend and she really needed him right now. She pulled her phone out of her pocket.

‘’…You weren’t kidding when you said you were coming?’’ Was the first thing Lal said when she opened the door, hair all over the place.

Reborn inspected his nails, ignoring the neighbours looking over the hedge  curiously. ‘’Of course I wasn’t kidding. Who do you take me for? You’re having an emotional crisis and I have duties, Lal, duties. Flying all over the world for you was clearly necessary.’’

Lal narrowed her eyes. ‘’As long as you don’t terrify the children.’’

‘’You do that enough yourself.’’

Lal huffed and threw the door open to let him in. ‘’While I admit I’m far from the ideal parent, I do know how to train a soldier and that’s kind of similar,’’ she cocked her head as she absentmindedly took his coat, ‘’…Right?’’

Reborn shook his head and patted her shoulder. ‘’You poor child.’’

‘’If you just came to patronize me, you know where the door is, Reborn.’’

Reborn pouted. ‘’I didn’t even take Aria with me to cause chaos. I’m purely here for your emotional needs, you could stand to be a bit nicer. Or give me coffee. I would take mean and coffee too.’’

‘’Guns, coffee and sadism are the entire reason this friendship still functions. I took my coffee blend from Italy, don’t worry.’’

Patronizing were half Reborn’s reasons to exist- didn’t mean Lal was going to put up with it.

Reborn loved Lal. He really did. Which was why he was discarding plan 17 to lock her and Nana into a closet, because CLEARLY she was too thick to get the hint. This was it. He would have to push their heads together and say: “kiss” while their cheeks were uncomfortably smooshed against each other. Hmmm… What if he threatened them at gunpoint instead? Would make for a fair bit dramatics, but Lal would probably just whip out that pistol she kept either in her underwear, or in some kind of magical pocket dimension. Never underestimate a woman who served.

Before he could put any plans into motion, Nana had dinner on the table. ‘’Lal, dear, would you please get the decanter?’’

‘’Which one?’’

‘’The one Iemitsu picked, his name should still be on the bottom!’’

This was, of course, when Lal knocked a rather ugly decanter off the coffee table with the gleeful expression of a cat who destroyed your possessions just because they could. It shattered upon the floor in nearly a thousand pieces of murky, green glass.

‘’Oh, dear,’’ she said, ‘’It seems I ruined his precious possession!’’

Nana stuck her head around the doorway. ‘’What a mess! We’ll have to go get a new one when we go to the store this weekend! Let me get the vacuum cleaner!’’

Lal nodded. ‘’I’ll add it to the list. Right under the rug that mysteriously caught fire.’’

‘’…Would that happen to be Iemitsu’s as well?’’ Reborn muttered underneath his breath.

Lal stiffened, before tilting her chin up proudly.

Reborn smirked. ‘’You’re not doing so bad on your own as you made it out to be.’’

Lal shrugged, crouched down and picked up a dustpan. Sweeping the glass up, she hummed. ‘’Only so far. My vendetta against Iemitsu just… Helps things along. I can’t make moves on a married woman, but even I have frustrations that need to be outed in some way. Her companionship is enough for me if that’s all I can get.’’

The back door went open, Basil and Tsuna bouncing up and down, a ball still in their hands.

Lal glared at the kids. ‘’You two, return to the garden, don’t come back until Nana has vacuumed here.’’

They scurried away, but the distraction was not enough to deter Reborn from asking questions. He took another sip of his coffee. ‘’Are you sure?’’

‘’Yes, I’m sure. Not everything’s about physical intimacy, no matter how hot your partner is.’’ She blew a strand of hair out of her face, ‘’Doesn’t mean that the next thing that’s going to be accidentally destroyed isn’t the wedding picture, of course.’’

‘’Wedding picture? What wedding picture?’’ Nana asked from the doorway, blinking at them with the vacuum cleaner next to her.

Lal froze, then robotically reached for her coffee. ‘’…Your wedding picture?’’

Nana put the vacuum cleaner down. ‘’There is no wedding picture.’’

Lal laughed nervously. ‘’There isn’t?’’

‘’No, because I put it away the minute the divorce got through.’’

Lal spat out her coffee. Nana kept talking, voice calm, not taking her eyes off Lal. ‘’I had been wondering why you’d been going about it in such a roundabout way. But apparently, you didn’t know about this?’’ She sighed, putting a hand on her hip, ‘’I really should’ve guessed. Iemitsu and I split up over severe communication issues, so that extending to his work isn’t much of a surprise.’’

Lal sputtered. ‘’But you’re called Sawada!’’

‘’Tsuna didn’t stop being Iemitsu’s child because we divorced; Being his heir is dangerous and I do not have the means to protect him beyond Iemitsu’s name and various favours from the Hibari family.’’

Lal squeaked. ‘’So you’ve known all this time? About the rug, and the souvenirs and the books on pick axes?’’

Nana beamed, crossing the room and taking her hand. ‘’And the overalls, the lamp and the curtains, yes.’’

Lal turned red, the flush creeping down her neck. ‘’The curtains were an honest accident!’’

Nana laughed, leaning in and booping her nose. ‘’But most importantly, I knew about you.’’

If Lal were the colour of apple candies before, she was now true, fire truck red, the colour intensifying until she was almost purple. ‘’Oh.’’

Nana giggled and swooped in for a kiss.

…Reborn snuck to the back door, knowing when to make himself scarce. Closing the door behind him quietly, he walked up to the kids. ‘’Just my presence alone is apparently capable of solving world problems, so let’s get ice cream.’’

Basil narrowed his eyes at him as Tsuna hid behind him. ‘’What did you do, Uncle Reborn?’’

Reborn threw his head back, laughing. ‘’Nothing that will get your mother mad, I promise. Now, what flavour do you want? I’m sure you can lead me to the nearest parlour.’’

This was apparently enough to satisfy the six-year-old’s suspicion, because he took Reborn’s hand without hesitation and said: ‘’Chocolate!’’

It took the rest of the way to the parlour to coax an answer out of awfully shy Tsu-kun, but that was alright. They had all the time of the world.

Reborn doubted Lal would be leaving Japan any time soon.

grasping at the moon, facing fragmented windchimes

Pairing: Sawada Nana and Reborn, possibly pre relationship

Prompt: a Sky pairing

Summary: Nana and Reborn have a long overdue conversation about Tsuna and the ways they could have done better with him.

-._.-

It’s late at night and Nana’s tired and she’s in the kitchen, staring at the wall like a zombie, and she’s thinking about things she shouldn’t be, that have repercussions so wide she doesn’t want to face them. She’s been here for a while.

She sips her tea, elbows resting on the table, and isn’t very surprised when Reborn appears with a “ciaossu.” She turns to him with her natural gentle smile and asks, “Would you like some espresso, Reborn-kun?”

He nods, jumping onto the counter and settling down with his legs crossed. She puts her tea down and pours him some of the hot coffee she’d thought to start brewing fifteen minutes ago. Sliding it over, she takes a deep breath and leans her hip against the opposite side of the counter so that she faces the baby.

“You look a little young to be drinking such heavy coffee,” she notes, laughing a bit. “Do you want to tell me about it?” There’s no way he can be an actual infant - no way an actual infant would be able to do so many good things for her son. She’s digging for answers subtly without putting pressure on him, and he’s clearly grateful.

“I’m older than I look,” he comments, and she waits for a minute but he doesn’t elaborate further. She mentally shrugs, accepts it, and moves on to more important matters.

“We need to talk,” Nana says. Reborn’s gaze darts back over to her and he studies her impassively before nodding. “First of all, thank you for everything you’ve done for Tsuna so far. He has so many people now, it’s wonderful. All those connections I never thought he’d make…”

Reborn nods again, a ghost of a smile on his lips this time. Nana quickly picks up her tea from the table and returns before she says anything else yet.

“But don’t you think you could have hit him a little less?” she queries, looking at him, truly looking into him, for answers. “There… was another way to motivate him, right?”

Reborn shifts and that’s the fastest she’s ever seen a smile slide off his face, even compared to all the times that Lambo has accosted him. Nana can’t quite stifle a helplessly exhausted giggle at that. He just looks more uncomfortable.

Bow Before The Queen

Title: Bow Before the Queen

Author: Seito

Rating: G

Pairing: Reborn/Nana

Prompt: Sky [Royalty AU | Dragon AU] for @khrrarepairweek

Tags/Warnings: N/A

Summary: Prince Iemitsu tries to win Queen Nana’s hand in marriage. It doesn’t end well.

They say the Kingdom of Namimori is a small but plentiful kingdom. Its land is rich, no mouth truly goes starving. The weather is beautiful, the turning of each season breathtaking in its own way. Towering mountains defend the kingdom, but no matter their lofty heights, hungry eyes still turn towards Namimori.

They say the Kingdom of Namimori is weak. Their small borders means their army is naturally small. There was no king to lead them, only a weak queen who had been ruling since her father had passed. She refused to marry, despite having a child that no one can account for. Countless suitors and potential grooms have championed for her hand and she has turned them all away. So in turn, they mock her and call her weak.

They say the Kingdom of Namimori, despite all these things, is well protected. No one knows why exactly. There are stories of a magical barrier that the Queen can only maintain as long as she remains unmarried. There are rumors of a deadly weapon. Even a story of a dragon! Wives tales that no one can confirm as true or not. But still the curious come. still seeking the Queen’s hand, still marching with their armies to conquer.

Yet none have been able to claim Namimori as their own.

-.-.-.-

“Prince Iemitsu.”

Iemitsu’s breath was taken away. When his father had sent him, no one had mention how beautiful Queen Nana of Namimori is. Suddenly this dull and boring trip to attempt to court her was no longer a painful thing. He can picture himself marrying this woman.

“Queen Nana,” Iemitsu says with a bow. “You are far more beautiful in person.”

Nana merely gives him an amuse look. “I would like to thank you for the beautiful gift the Kingdom of CEDEF has sent. There is something legendary about the liquor your kingdom produces.”

Iemitsu puffs out his chest. “Yes! We make the greatest wine around.”

They adjourn to a large sitting room, a bottle of the wine Iemitsu had provided sat on the table with two wine glasses. Ever the gentleman, Iemitsu held out the chair for Nana for her to sit. Nana smiles, taking her seat. A servant sweeps into the room, opening the bottle of wine, tasting it briefly for poison before pouring it out into the two wine glasses. They vanished after that, leaving the two of them alone.

Iemitsu glance around the room, appreciating the sheer size of it. It is almost as large as the throne room, leaving plenty of space. It is an odd feature. A boast? To show of their wealth and presence? What a cute idea.

“Where is your son, Prince Tsunayoshi?” Iemitsu asks. Like with everything in Namimori, Prince Tsunayoshi is shroud in a mist of mystery. He had only been presented a few times (and no one had even known that Queen Nana had been pregnant) but kept safely guarded nevertheless.

“He is with his tutor,” Nana answers. She tilts her head ever so slightly and Iemitsu feels a chill go down his spine. “Why don’t we get down to business? Why did you come to Namimori, Prince Iemitsu?”

He hears the steel in her words and wonders were the stories that Queen Nana is a weak woman come from. It makes his heart race though. He always like a fire in his women.

“CEDEF and Namimori are border neighbors,” Iemitsu says. “But my kingdom is over ten times the size of Namimori with the power to back it up. Surely we can unite our kingdoms together.”

“By unite, you wish for my hand in marriage,” Nana says.

“It would be an honor,” Iemitsu says. Truly. He has no complains.

“And this is has nothing to do with the fanime that CEDEF has been facing the last three years,” Nana says. She swirls the wine in her glass, raising it high enough for the sunlight to glint off it.

Iemitsu felt his stomach drops. Well, it is not surprising that she knew about that. The only reason why he could bring wine was because of the aging process. “I-it slightly does. We could use Namimori’s assistance with food supplies. But it isn’t as if you don’t benefit from tying our kingdoms together. After all, Namimori is often targeted by invading armies. CEDEF ”

A soft smile stretch across Nana’s face, much like a parent indulging a child in a fantasy. “I will not marry you, Prince Iemitsu. Namimori has no need for CEDEF’s assistance at this time.”

Iemitsu scowled. “Your mountains will fail you one day. And spreading silly false stories will not help you.”

“Stories?” Nana asks, tone curious.

“Like dragons protecting your kingdom,” Iemitsu says with a scoff. What a child’s tale. You would have to be an idiot to believe something like dragons.

Nana clapped her hands together, beaming brightly. “That isn’t a story.”

Iemitsu felt a presence loom behind him, a gust of hot air hitting him. Twirling around, he came face to face with a large pitch black dragon staring down at him. Its teeth were as large as Iemitsu, pearly white and razor sharp. It opened its mouth, preparing to swallow Iemitsu in a single gulp.

‘Thud’

“Oh dear,” Nana says, cupping her cheek. “He fainted.”

The dragon flexed its wings, before its form strank, twisting and transforming into a tall male human. He threads a hand through his jet black spiky hair. “Chaos.”

“Reborn!” Nana says cheerfully. “How is Tsuna?”

Reborn kicked the unconscious Iemitsu. “Napping. He tired himself with shapeshifting practice,” he says, stepping over Iemitsu. He lift Nana’s hand to place a kiss to it. “When will these useless suitors learn that you’re mines?”

Nana laughs. “It doesn’t help that we normally just dump them beyond our borders while they’re still unconscious and steal all their clothes and belongings. Most of them pass it off as fevered dream.”

“I could just eat them,” Reborn suggests.

“Hmm, you probably wouldn’t like the taste of them,” Nana replies.

Reborn sighs. “Then I suppose I should just take out the trash. Until I return, my queen,” he says, flourishing his words with a slight bow.

Nana press a kiss to his cheek. “Swift travels, my dragon.”

Prompt:  Storm [Soulmate AU | Body Disposal] for @khrrarepairweek

Summary:  Perhaps coming to the park to see a smile was not what an average high-schooler did for fun, but it picked him up when he was down, and could Tsuna truly be faulted for that?
