Teaser of the first half of the next chapter. Im still refining the finer bits as th later half with Dís falls into place but i feel comfy sharing.

I did have several migraines during the writing and editing. Im sure ill continue to catch grammar and weird words as i edit over the next few days.

Already going over it im finding some funny words so just ah patience please with my disabled ass.

Víli 1000% had a sister who he adored and spoiled.

Víli 10000% did everything for her

Víli 100000% definitely didnt lose her tragically in an accident and we dont talk about it

Dís definitely didnt see how Víli encountered tragedy and instead of turning inward and breaking was in awe how he became a sun warming everyone. Caring for everyone. Tending to everyone. He didnt turn bitter and sad and sullen. He was a good kind pure soul just like Kíli and Fíli and she sees him everyday in Kíli's brown eyes, love of the forest and adventure,purity in heart and spirit, in his open mind and eagerness to explore the world.

She she sees him so much in Fíli and his looks yes but also his unwavering loyalty to his family and people and goodness and justice. How he is always lending a hand to others no matter who they are. How he loves to dance and fiddle and folds his hands at the table. The braids and beads in his hair are Víli. His soft voice is Víli. But so much else is Fíli through and through. Shes careful Víli doesnt overshadow her sons but sometimes oh sometimes it is hard!

I write a lot of Víli's spirit returning to keep watch over his sons or his sons imagining their adad keeping watch over them

Thats up for interpretation tbh but to me i feel like an adad like Víli would not remain within the confines of Mahal's halls when his sons need him. Especially not when they are small or in need.

Maybe its love maybe its poetic in world belief of Fíli and Kíli and they are imagining things. But personally i like to believe Víli is their guardian returning to guide them.

Especially in the forests where he loved to be. Where he found work and took his pebble Fíli on long adventures and walks perched on his shoulders.

Perhaps like a Ghillie Dhu he is there whenever they become lost or afraid in the forest: guiding them out again. Mmm thats a good story idea 😌

All of that family warmth, the details about each and every one of them. I just love-love-love when people see that little family as good. Pure in the best sense, which means being fair, kind and open, not like having super strict rules.

I don’t know, I just… So much of this fits my own image of their world. Like Fíli being the spitting image of his father, with all those similarities between them. But especially, the helping anyone regardless of who they are. That’s so fundamentally Fíli for me, coming from Víli’s side of the family. And Kíli loving nature and adventures, because his Adad did, that is so pure. And Dis missing her husband and seeing him in her boys ugh! I think of that so often

And I often think of Fili being guided by his father (Kíli too, I’m just a Fili girl) and thinking if his Adad would be proud of him, making decisions in accordance with those values he passed on to them. Even if it contradicts some other stuff (‘I belong with my brother!’)

Just… thank you for taking the time to share this, it’s so beautiful. It’s like you’re creating memories about people (I can’t even call them characters, they feel so real) we’ve never met, but at the same time know so well.

I love them all, I love what wonderful people like you create for them, it’s just bliss.
