All my followers, please reblog :)
You know what's disappointing? There's no shirtless dwarrow scenes in The Hobbit. Unrealistic. 3/10
It’s canon too. They bathed naked in a river in the book. Where’s that scene? Cowards.
i’ve grown very fond of them, and i would save them if i can
Unpopular opinion:
I prefer the hobbit over The Lord of The Rings 1000%. No one can take my love for the dwarves away from me.
Same here! I mean the lotr movies are definitely great, I get why people think they’re better but…. They don’t make me HAPPY the way the Hobbit movies do. I think the characters are great, but I don’t LOVE AND ADORE THEM WITH ALL MY HEART FOREVER UNTIL THE END OF TIME, like I love Fili and Kili and Thorin and his hobbit and his whole silly little dwarf company 🤧
I don’t love everything about the hobbit movies. I know they have shortcomings. There’s stuff that annoys me every time I re-watch. But that doesn’t change the fact that they just bring me sm joy 🤧💖 These movies and the dwarves have a special place in my heart.
dwarves are awesome.
I agree with that last part: “I don’t love everything about the hobbit movies”. I refuse to watch the ending of the battle of five armies. Because I refuse to believe that after such a long journey, and an even more glorious battle, it’s essentially all for naught.
I live by the #EveryoneLivesAU 🤣
Really quick drawing from an AU my friend and I came up with…presenting Captain Fili and Co Captain Kili! (Used references/will do a better one later)
do men know how immensely powerful this single strand of hair can be?
Okay literally no one asked but as a former Hobbit movie hater who has since experienced character growth, I feel compelled to share my thoughts on the movies on my gay little blog.
Listen. There are legit reasons to be critical of these movies. They were made on a rushed timeline, at time where CGI overuse was the thing and there are definitely unnecessary moments. But despite those issues, these movies still have a lot of heart and character and some really wonderful acting! To compare them to LOTR, is unfair I think because LOTR was such an unimaginable success and I truly believe no other movie franchise can do what those movies did. To expect the Hobbit movies to be the same caliber considering the behind the scenes drama and massive difference in timeline is just not it.
Truly I think that the Hobbit could have been much more than it was and it’s sad to see the amazing moments and realize that we could have had movies that were maybe closer to the level of LOTR, but that doesn’t take away from all of the great things that the movies gave us! Despite what he may be like irl, Martin Freeman was a great young Bilbo, Richard Armitage was insanely good as Thorin (despite the change in age) and the other dwarf actors brought a great sense of loyalty, brotherhood and shared loss to their roles. The music is still dope as hell and there are some beautiful shots despite all the CGI.
This is way too long and I’ve not said anything that hasn’t been said before but honestly, I’m so glad that I stopped hating on these movies and have seen the special things about them. Nothing will ever compare to LOTR, but that doesn’t make these movies bad. They’re fun, they’re emotional, they have great characterization and it’s super valid to enjoy them.
Final gay thoughts because I’m obligated, but I struggle with people who argue against Bagginshield with the whole “why does everyone have to make everything gay?” thing. Because Hollywood is so deeply homophobic that we see so little genuine queer representation, so forgive us for enjoying the chemistry we find and making it our own since our society gives us breadcrumbs. If you’re not into Bagginshield, totally legit and fine, but don’t hate on other people (especially queer people) trying to find some romantic love in media that we enjoy. Also no one can convince me that Richard Armitage wasn’t at least somewhat intentionally putting his queer energy into this role, I will die on this hill.
Anyway, TL;DR there’s no shame in liking or loving the Hobbit movies despite their faults and there are lots of things to appreciate and enjoy and I for one, am glad to leave my LOTR purist hater days behind me
Added to this, the hobbit and LOTR come from different "beginning sources."
Bilbo write the hobbit as a children's story, Frodo did not.
So yes, I found some of the comedic timing off putting and unnecessary in the hobbit personally but the actors were brilliant, the dwarves were given more personality then the books and it is an adaptation of a translation of a children's story (think of how Disneys stories are nothing like their originals) so to compare it to LOTR feels disingenuous when you remember you are reading a hobbit story written or hobbit children who never leave their country of origin.
That pat to Kili’s shoulder *gets* me every time.
he’s my favourite and he will be forever ❤
In certain parts of the fandom, there's a real push back against the notion that Eowyn was left behind first and foremost because she was a woman. That Eowyn was denied the right to ride to battle, or was forced into a domestic role, because she was a woman. Or indeed, that her depression was directly caused by the choices other people made regarding her because she was a woman.
Fans will accept generally that countries like Rohan and Gondor were patriarchal (although they might avoid using the word "sexist"), and will acknowledge that gender roles were at play, but when presented with specific acts of sexism from characters they admire, like Theoden or Aragorn, they shy away from it, they try to find alternative explanations, they try to remove sexism from the narrative. Actually pin pointing moments of sexism from heroic characters is something they resist, even though they wouldn't necessarily deny that the characters exist in sexist cultures.
It seems that they are unwilling to fully acknowledge that sexist societies are sexist because of the choices and conduct of those living within the societies, that agents within those societies perpetuate sexism by making choices that reinforce it. They'd rather shrug the sexism off with a vague "it's just what it was like back then".
"It's just what it was like back then" comes up if you look critically at a character's sexist actions. We're told we can't "judge them through a modern lens", as though everyday sexism only causes harm in modern day, as though the book itself doesn't examine the role gender and gendered expectations have on women like Eowyn.
And of course, much of it comes down to wanting to defend Theoden or Aragorn or whatever character is coming under critique. They would rather look for alternative interpretations, focus entirely on the non-sexist reasoning for their decisions and pretend that gender never comes into it, point out the times characters treated Eowyn with something approaching respect or recognition (which should be enough to dispel accusations of sexism, even when it is nowhere equal to what a male peer would receive) or use the traditions of their culture to exculpate the characters of all responsibility for their actions.
The result of this is that Eowyn ends up being re-written as a misguided woman whose sense of oppression was all in her head, that she was misguided and selfish (tragically so, because we can accept she is Grima's victim, just no one else's), that she was "redeemed" at the end of the narrative by "embracing her feminine role", and that her conflict with gender and gendered expectations are for herself to resolve, with no alterations or concessions made by others.
This, even though Gandalf spells out to Eomer that sexism played a hugely significant part in Eowyn's ultimate despair, and that Eomer himself, after hearing Gandalf, accepted this and reconsidered their entire lives together.
I finished all commissions, so I had a time to draw you idea, @khazadaimenu. Fili resting from princely duties.
Ahhhhhhhhh thank you!!!!!!!
You finished this so quickly and it’s so good!!!!
He looks completely absorbed in the book and happy! And all the details - the fur, his clothing, his hands, and is that the crown (?!) I love how casual he is about just letting it lie in the corner. Fili deserves his rest.
Thank you a thousand times for taking this silly request on board <3
I'm making hour long soundscapes of a bunch of locations in Veilguard and sticking them on youtube, here
Right now there is 15 of them up including every companion’s room and a few other locations like in the Necropolis and Treviso
If there's a specific location you want feel free to let me know xx
you're in her dms. i am hiring her for the deep roads expedition. we're not the same.

Late game spoilers, particulary about Varric! I wasn't able to put this into words before, but now that I've had some time, I think I can actually talk about it. It's a little long though.
I made some kind of discounter version of Thorin in the Sims and immediately baby Kíli doesn't do anything but throw tantrums, while toddler Fíli feels neglected.
How is this so fitting 😭
Discounter version I’m howling 😂 I was thinking of doing the same but in a different game
Anyway, give baby Fili some love!
It was so upsetting that I just closed the game, lmao. But I will return and then little Fíli will get some attention.
Which game are you talkin about, if I may ask? :)
Sims is crazy sometimes. I had some pretty traumatic scenarios play out, so I get you
I was thinking of taking an RPG with a really good character designer and making the exact copy of Fili. So then he can run around killing monsters and romancing people.
Since I’m currently obsessed with Dragon Age, it’d be nice to try it there.

BioWare just posted some player stats in their discord. Two jumped out to me
I really thought the Mourn Watch would be more popular! Grey Wardens being at the top isn't a surprise, but Shadow Dragons matching that is interesting. Also thought that the Veil Jumpers would be near the top cause of the game antagonists
This makes me so sad. Only 6% of players made a dwarf? There's so much good dwarf content in this game. (Make a secondary Rook as a dwarf!) The fact that there are more qunari than dwarves is nuts, too
I love these types of stats. BioWare promises to release more later on, too!
warm greetings ☀

it exists to divide the working class. All labour is skilled labour. Yes including that one. Yes, including that one too.
Do you know what's unskilled labour? Owning capital. There's no labour involved, thus requires no skill. And you can tell because people can be born into owning capital.
