oh boy here we go FT chapter 517 Wendy Belserion

Once again coming off the stupidity of chapter 516, Irene is now inside Wendy’s body and is actually taking the account of this new body.

*Face palms* God dammit Hiro. Look Hiro doesn’t fetishize lolis the way i’ve seden other mangaka do but damn it why? Also Irene is that all you care about with this new body, your cup size. Oh and Erza’s ass is making this sooo much better.

So Apparently the body stayed in tact while the personality is in the new host and Irene states that Wendy is gone.

With this New body Irene states That Wendy herself is no more and Irene taking advantage of this form attacks Erza

Umm what was that? We do see Irene use Sky Dragon magic later but this isn’t stated what this was. Was it just enchantment? I guess it could be we’ve never seen Wendy enchant something that’s not people.

I don’t know Irene, Wendy is about 14 and well I’m not denying it be weird it has occurred… We should change the subject.

While utilizing more of Wendy’s magic, Irene beats around Erza so more. When Erza calls out to Wendy Irene seems to state that her personality is gone. Erza gets on the offensive and tries to attack but Irene questions if Erza will be willing to harm her friend.

This is the only good scene in this chapter. showing how Wendy and Erza’s relation has come over the course of the story. But Irene takes advantage and knocks Erza back.

Wow. To bad Erza an incredibly fast Re-quip mage doesn’t have an armor that’s resistant to flames. Oh well except that flame empress and if you want to argue an explosion isn’t a flame then why not the adimandine armor. But hey maybe this enchantment was instantaneous and she couldn’t guard. So what happened.

Oh you have got to be kidding me.

BULLSHIT!!

Okay First off for a spell that raises resistance doesn’t work on breasts. why? Second I get what Hiro’s trying to do here that Wendy used Irene’s enchantment to go into her body but here’s the question what happened to Wendy’s personality when Irene took her body. It seems that the personality is just pushed out but that raises the question can personalities use magic? This only explanation is wendy did her enchantment a split second before Irene which seems impossible because she didn’t know about personality enchantment in the first place.

Why, why do we need to include this breast thing with wendy? Loo I know Wendy has always had the running gag of being envious of bigger breasted characters and that’s a gag not unique to FT. A lot of series do it. Still doesn’t stop it from being dumb.

Gee. It’s almost like giving up a body that had the power to shrink continents for a young girls who doesn’t fully realize her potential was a bad idea. Also Aren’t you a dragon slayer Irene? Belserion was the Wisdom dragon so shouldn’t you be the wisdom dragon slayer. Side note Wisdom Dragon slayed magic sounds badass.

Yeah keep piling on how stupid Irene’s plan was.

Because this was total necessary to hear.

What was the point of that exchange? No what did that accomplish for Wendy as a character. If this was foreshadowed more and wendy’s character was about how she takes damage over becoming a more physical fighter, then this would be okay, but this just feels like waxing poetic for no reason.

Hey Irene now that you have your op body back maybe you’d like to be smart and squash them.

Oh you don’t fucking earn this.

Post Chapter follow up: This was bad. Okay I’ll try and not get to rant-ish but oh boy.

What can I say that’s positive about this? well, Erza’s flashes back with her time with wendy. While alot of people tend to focus on Wendy’s relationship with Natsu and their brother-sister bond, Erza’s sister like bond with wendy is just as important to her as Natsu’s. I like that we are getting call backs to it, something that a final arc usually should do.

Another thing I gotta say I really liked was just watching Wendy use all of Irene’s over powered magic against her. It just seems hilarious.

Now on to the negatives and boy are there a lot. First let’s start with how this enchantment thing works on personalities. I assume, as said above, that this pushes the personality out. So how did Wendy in personality form use magic to go into Irene’s body It doesn’t seem possible.

Another is the waste of the moment Wendy had talking about her damage. It’s not bad but makes no sense for the character. As well the timing was a mess because maybe if we saw some of this more before hand it could be better executed but obviously it wasn’t. I know lot’s of people were happy to see wendy do this stuff and to an extent I was too. But it came at a cost that is completely asinine.

And Now time for the reason why this was possibly the worst chapter in a long time. It was completely pointless. There is not reason for this body swap, it doesn’t even last more than a chapter. It takes away time that could’ve been spent on fighting Irene normally and presenting Erza and Wendy as a great tag team but also makes the last 6 pages of the chapter pointless too. We waste time on something that doesn’t need to be done. Actually no, There was something done we took Wendy out of the fight so we can have Erza fight Irene all by herself in her samurai pants. I guess you could say that having Wendy use up all that magic to pull out Irene and transfer bodies will give Erza an edge but it seems like the dumbest way to do that.

I mean this is like when all the Spriggans were assembled, nothing really came form it, no stakes are different, no feelings of the characters are different, hell no one really took damage. If at the end of Erza’s little fight with Irene where she busted out her “one big sword” to hit Irene then cut to this ending scene, nothing would have changed.

Final Verdict: 2/10
