Since finding out the news of Atsushi Sakurai’s passing I’ve had so many thoughts and emotions that it’s taken me until now to begin to sort them all out. I first began listening to Buck-Tick several years ago and have fallen more in love with the band and their music as time goes on. …Occasionally, you’ll come across a band or an artist that embodies a feeling of magic. For me Sakurai and Buck-Tick are just such a band, and in the time that I’ve listened to them, I have experienced so much magic from their music and have so many memories that are connected to their songs. Whether it’s memories of my late grandfather and father whenever I listen to Angelic Conversation or Message, and the comfort I found from Buck-Tick's music during that time. Or the magic of watching the beauty of the sunrise while listening to Cosmos, and of taking in the landscape of the countryside while driving through it with any number of Buck-Tick’s songs playing on my car’s radio. I also think of the magic of being inspired by Buck-Tick’s music while writing my stories and listening to them as I bring scenes to life with words. Or in coming up with ideas for modifying the shirts I’ve purchased from their website to make a unique piece of clothing for myself, and in some small way having my own creativity fused with that of Sakurai and Buck-Tick. Which in itself is a very special sort of magic. I’ve sometimes heard that magic is a form of energy, and if so then it can never be destroyed but only change form. So now rather than being embodied by Sakurai himself, a piece of that magic will continue on as long as he is remembered and as new and old fans continue to listen to and enjoy the art he created during his lifetime.

Thank you for all the magic you have given to me and all the other fans of Buck-Tick, and may you rest in peace Atsushi Sakurai.

SWEET SCHOOL LIFE: THE MOVIE (SUBTITLES)

The movie continues from the 6 episodes drama series that (very loosely) adapted the SSL game back in 2015. The movie features the same cast and is a direct sequel, starting in the second semester. 

Whereas the drama itself had been fansubbed for a while (you can find it through Google), the movie had not been subbed in English (as far as I'm aware, at least). Until now. 

This is my first subbing project, so be lenient with me. (❁´◡`❁)

HAKU-MYU LIVE Backstage Extras subtitles!

A subtitles file for the HAKU-MYU LIVE extras is now available! 

HAKU-MYU LIVE’s extras were translated by @masayume85 (lyrics, dialogue, curtain call, assorted misc), @janiesj (lyrics, dialogue, hanetsuki, kakizome) and @kanasmusings (almost all of the non-stage content and otori’s jokes via commission), while @tofutortoise (who also did some misc translating) and I did most of the subtitle timing and editing, and @koto-wari also helped with providing additional translations, editing and timing help.

Aggretsuko was one of a kind, a series focused on young and older adults surviving in day to day society of low-wages, unfair treatment and dreams

I hope we see more anime series like this.

Just finished S5 of Aggretsuko and I’m super disappointed there wasn’t more screen time for Shikabane.

Y’all can’t just bring in a awesome new character and then NOT do much with her! I wanna know more about her!

I demand a spin-off about Shikabane now!!

Hakuoki Shinkai Tenun no Shou Voice Recording CD Track 1-5

well… even if it’s short, i managed to translate some hakuoki stuff this month though i did spend most of the month working on the case 1 yuumori case stage instead… and what a pain that was. going to be switching to hakuoki b’s log content for posts after checking what was and wasn’t translated for a while to make up the time i wasn’t really doing anything else since my queue is unfortunately non-existent… though on the upside, i think i’m doing better now. 

as always… my tl may not be 100% accurate as I don’t translate from Japanese.

Souji’s sticks out from this group as it uses a graphic from Zuisouroku… 😅 lol. while i do like that cg, i actually don’t have the clean KW/EB CGs from his route saved in HD (or anyone’s aside from Saito’s for that matter since I didn’t transfer my save file between laptops) and since I don’t like Souji enough to speedrun through his route… I went with that as I didn’t want to reuse anything, and also didn’t think that any of the non-used CGs fit.

Also, Harada’s gave me a hard time since I had to look up just what Iyo was since I had no idea what the words used for it meant like that… glad that historical info was documented.

Short disclaimer before we get into the topic: I don’t have as much time today as I did when I wrote my post about the Souma-hen cast announcement, I’ll mostly include their names, if they’re new to Hakumyu or not and some pictures. However, I will leave some links below each section so that you can follow their social media or check their past works, and of course you can always check the official Hakumyu website. Keisuke Sannan - Teruma  (輝馬)  

His time is finally here! Our dear Teruma who has played Sannan since Reimeiroku gets to be the poster boy! The gods know I would pay to have both Ryosuke Mikata and Teruma working together to represent pre and post ochimizu Sannan, but I’m really excited to see Teruma with a leading role and listen to his strong and beautiful voice.

Nagakura since Souma-hen? I was very confused when I researching this because I saw everyone saying he’s the Nagakura in Souma-hen but back when I wrote my Souma-hen cast post the person who was casted was Yuta Kishimoto. I looked for tweets from the official Hakumyu Twitter account that included their names and apparently he was in the original cast announcement, but once the visuals with the stage costumes were released the one mentioned is Ryosuke Koike, so I guess there was a last minute change there.

BEST DAD SINCE OKITA HEN KEEPS GOING STRONG. I still cry because Kondou wasn’t in the original Saito-hen and that means he was robbed of having the role in every single Hakumyu.

It’s no secret that Shogo Suzuki is my fave Kazama, but I guess he’s busy with the Moriarty the Patriot musical. Yoshihide Sasaki is the actor who has been casted as Kazama more times after Shogo (and my dearest  Viscount of Druitt). Kinda funny that none of his socials are on the Hakumyu official website when he’s pretty much one of the most popular actors/singers participating.
