The Political Lone Wolf

I was "politically homeless" way before it became a way of life in duopoly America

There's a lot to unpack here:

  • The Dems' rhetoric not matching up with their actions
  • "Fascism can be defeated at the ballot box" likely to backfire on the neolibs
  • Establishment glad as clams that the anti police brutality movement lost momentum on this day three years ago
  • This is "scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds" on steroids as 1930s Spain and 2010s Greece have shown us

I'm genuinely surprised that liberals haven't jumped on the anti-protest laws bandwagon yet. I thought that they would after January 6. Instead, they decided to abandon whatever support for the demilitarization of police they still had in favor of glorifying the Capitol Police and supporting online censorship.

The truth is that if liberals do in fact support the kind of draconian anti-protest laws conservative legislatures have passed, then, it's game over for the right to assembly.

30:23-31:05 is your reminder that the Capitol Police let the MAGAts in. If Congress wants to do an investigation, start there.

36:06-36:47 demonstrates the difference between Trump supporters and whatever composes of the American left. Some in the former group were willing to overturn an election that their guy clearly lost while half of the latter group had spent a month denigrating a strategy that would have demonstrated progressives' staying power and would six months later shit all over poor and working class people for organizing M4A marched from the ground up because they didn't go through the Dem Party gatekeepers.

[Image description: A vaporwave-style image with text overlaid that reads “Do not allow liberals to use the coup attempt to justify giving more equipment to police. The problem wasn’t a lack of equipment, the problem is that the US capitol police are politically aligned with fascism.”]

Say no to an already expanded police state

NARRATOR: January 6 was the day liberals abandoned their defund the police stance and supported additional funding to the Capitol Police.

I don't have the luxury of giving a shit about January 6. Not when police continue gunning down people who look like me. Not when the people who were supposed to be fighting for us give Capitol police more money, fund Israel's Iron Dome and stage a phony eviction moratorium rally while refusing to pressure Pelosi and Schumer to pass an eviction ban.

Furthermore, what happened a year ago was at best a pissing contest between the neoliberal and neofascist sectors of the ruling class and at worst a fucking psyop meant to pressure us plebs into compliance and to squash the remnants of a functioning left (hello, social media censorship up the ass).

All this every day!

Right idea: Storming the Capitol.

Wrong people: Trump's paramilitary and other far right shitheads. Who should have led the charge instead: Force The Vote advocates/other M4A supporters like Whole Washington, Cancel The Rent movement, Fight For 15, UBI supporters, essential workers, mutual aid groups/antipoverty organizations, Green New Deal backers, labor unions and a group of leftist third parties.

Wrong demands: Overturning the 2020 election via the use of violence. What should have been demanded instead: That Congress 1) pass a UBI, M4A and a suitable wage in the midst of a deadly fucking pandemic; 2) get an environmentally friendly GND and not the watered down version AOC backs; 3) rent forgiveness for not only renters but for the landlords and mortgage relief. These groups would have stayed in the Capitol and peacefully protested until all three were passed. If Congress refused to comply, announce the creation of a new party that would curb their capitalist excesses.

A reminder.

It's also worth noting that

  1. There were rallies to pressure progressive members of Congress to withhold their votes for Nancy Pelosi unless she agreed to a floor vote on Medicare For All and against extraditing Julian Assange on January 2 & 3.
  2. Metro PD aka DC police clashed with the Proud Boys on the night of January 5 but it was the CAPITOL POLICE that let in the rioters the following day. This is what most people have forgotten—had the latter police force not done this, we wouldn’t have had what happened last year
