I’m sorry, but you must be mistaken. I’ve never had any children.

“Ho ho! Well, Luke, a true gentleman never refuses the request of a beautiful lady.”
NPC appreciation week: day 1 - Curious Village
Bruno, Lady Dahlia and Claudia Lady Dahlia is the most compelling character to me in CV, sharing the face of Flora’s late mother but none of the memories… There’s a tenderness to her underneath her prickly exterior and I think Bruno must feel some fondness for her, being the first robot he constructed for Baron Reinhold (also how could I not include Claudia? He’s so stinking cute)
let’s send flora off with a smile, dahlia
PL actors AU: Curious Village
Here I go again, going crazy of talking random AUs I made.
- St. Mystere was filmed at a village in Western Europe. After the movie became popular the village became a famous tourist attraction.
- However, places like the inside of the Reinhold Manor and the tower were filmed at a set in UK. And the outside of St. Mystere was filmed at another village.
- The mansion which became the outside of the Reinhold Manor does exist though. But the inside wasn't what the director had thought in mind, so the inside was filmed at a set.
- The abandoned park actually exists at the local village. It was abandoned in real life too, and as the village became a tourist attraction the park has re-opened.
- The portraits of Baron Reinhold and Flora Reinhold was drawn by Professor Layton's actor. He drew them at some free time, let the director use them for filming, then gave them to the actors as a gift.
- The concpet of Luke talking to animals came from Luke's actor, who can handle any animal very well. He said that he has the ability to "talk with animals", and the director instantly gave Luke that concept and fixed some of the plot.
- Claudia was quite a reckless cat, not listening to many of the staffs and the actors. The only few people who could handle him was his owner, Luke's actor, and Lady Dahlia's actor. But Lady Dahlia's actor had to go through several exhausting hours to handle him.
- Flora hugging Professor Layton after excaping the tower was Flora's actor's improvision. Precisely, she misheard a cut signal, then hugged Professor Layton's actor. This was her last shot for Curious Village. The director found this better than what he intended, so he decided to use this scene and went through extra filmings.
- Professor Layton's actor was kinda awkward wearing the top hat during filming. He asked if this hat is a special gift from Professor Layton's past lover as a joke, and the director and the script writer smiled as if this gave them an idea.
- Luke's actor is American. The director was thinking of hiring a British actor for Luke, but as he saw Luke's actor he shouted out like "He's the one I've been finding!" And so Luke's actor was hired for Luke.
- The first scene of Professor Layton and Luke in the Laytonmobile had several improvisions. The director allowed the actors to make improvisions if they want.
- Some of those improvisions were "What a perplexing individual. I wish I could have met him while he was still alive." "It certainly sounds like you two would've gotten along, Professor!"
- At some scenes of Lady Dahlia being angry, her actor was really annoyed. The director went filming the same scene over and over, annoying Lady Dahlia's actor and making the scene look so real.
- Luke saying "Sullen expression, check!" when he found Claudia was his actor's improvision. Claudia was actually doing a sullen expression at the site. But he got better when Luke's actor petted him after getting a cut signal.
- Chelmey's actor made Chelmey look rude as possible, since he heard he's actually Don Paolo in disguise. It was quite hard for the actor to act rude though, since he is actually a good and kind person.
- Also, like Chelmey(Don Paolo), sweets aren't Chelmey's actor's preference. But he'll have sweets if someone gives it as a gift.
- At the scene of Professor Layton and Luke chasing Bruno, Luke's actor tripped and rolled down the alley. He wasn't injured bad, but the staff had to finish the filming for the day.
- When Luke's actor read the notepapers, he imitated an old man's voice while reading at the first shot. But then he realized this makes no sense, since Luke doesn't know who wrote this, so he read them with his usual voice from the second shot.
- A ferris wheel replica was used for Professor Layton and Luke being chased. But only for the ferris wheel falling to the ground, the ferris wheel rolling and chasing was CGI.
- At free time Luke's actor and other young actors played at the park. They played games like hide an seek, or did some role-plays with various situations, or had some chats, having seats on the ferris wheel.
- Luke's actor is actually younger than Luke, who is 13 years old. So is Professor Layton's actor.
- There is a deleted scene where Flora says good bye to Lady Dahlia, with no dialogues and only gestures. The deleted scene is added as an extra in the DVD with other deleted scenes.
- In the director's cut version of the DVD, scenes of Luke packing stuff on the Laytonmobile and Flora arriving at London were added. These were filmed while filming Diabolical Box.
Hmm...anything else you think would have happened?
Lady Dahlia's entire life was a tragedy.
Her husband referred to her as "it" and "the thing"
Her daughter was terrified of her.
She had her memories and personality completed changed to suit the needs of her husband.
Her husband passed away.
Her nephew "passed away."
Her only companion is a cat, who she treats as a daughter.
Since the Barons diary was in her room, she has likely read it and knows that he never loved her, and how she will never be Lady Viola.
She also keeps a photo of baby Flora on her room, showing that she does care for her.
There are portraits of Augustus, Viola and Flora, but none of Dahlia, showing that she was never part of the family.
She has dreams about having a daughter, which are actually memories of her previous life.
Contrary to what the game says, Dahlia is not happy about watching Flora leave.
When people say nice things about her, it's almost always to do with her physical appearance.
At the end of the game, when everyone is shown to be happy, Dahlia is still shown to be heartbroken over losing Flora again, looking down at Claudia as her only comfort.
Not only was Dahlia given a sad backstory, she was not allowed a happy ending like the others.
She will continue to live in St Mystere with no purpose, except now she knows what she's missing.
Translation
Luke "It doesn't look weird?"
Sammy "I like your style."
Clive "It's me, Luke."
Just the clasic "what if Luke chose the other jacket." Clive would think Luke's fashion choices were unusual and disguise himself with a diferent style.
Painting
It was a beautiful painting. A woman with her white cat on her lap, looking through the window, thinking. The woman looked so much like herself. But it wasn’t her, no matter how much they looked alike.
The house was filled with pictures of her, where everyone was smiling.
She knew, somehow, deep down, she was meant to be her replacement. But she was not her, and she wasn’t loved like this woman had been. It was a subconscious knowledge, she didn’t actually know, she couldn't express it with words if she wanted, she would fail if she tried, feeling she was making no sense. A little whisper in the back of her mind, something she was meant to forget, someone she was once supposed to be.
That only frustrated her further, the sensation she was given something that actually never belonged to her, and later she was stripped of that too, but not completely. Blurred memories. Dreams she could not remember.
The pictures reminded her of the loss of something she actually never had. Of someone she never was.
A replacement never loved by the ones that have loved the one she resembled.
A sudden rage possessed her, and she took the painting from its frame. with her hands, she tore the painting in two, put the pieces one over the other, and repeated the process, until the painting was just twenty pieces of fabric with paint, the image they used to represent completely lost. She contemplated the pieces in her hand, then opened a window, and let the wind scatter the pieces. One flew back inside, but she didn’t notice.
Later Mathew found the empty frame and the single piece of the painting, deciding to keep it in a safe place, hoping to see the picture complete once more one day.
For the angst art meme, would you do 🌹for Flora? Thank you! 💖
🌹 Hanahaki disease
Hanahaki, but this time it's more...familial love. Storge refers to natural or instinctual affection, such as the love of a parent towards offspring and vice versa.
I got to thinking about Lady Dahlia, and about Flora at one time possibly thinking that there was no way she could love her as much as her real mother, especially with the shift of personality, and the struggle she must have gone through...
More stuff of the PL actors AU I imagined
This time with cutscenes fun!
Claudia actually moved a lot when Lady Dahlia's actor held him. It took a whole day for her to calm down Claudia in her arms. The scene where Dahlia appears with Claudia actually went through about 15 retakes.
Luke jumping on the sofa wasn't in the script. He was supposed to bounce on it while sitting, but Luke's actor was excited about the train filming set, so he ended up jumping on the sofa. It was so much better than what he expected.
Flora(Don Paolo) being surprised was her actor's genuine reaction. In her script it wasn't written that Professor Layton will point Flora.
This scene went through many retakes. First reason was that when Professor Layton's actor pulled the hat some of the wig fell off, second reason was that the cast laughed so loud when he took off the hat.
About the scene of Luke saving Janice, the part where he falls, spins on the machine, and jumps through wires were performed by a stunt actor. Even in the scene where he runs on the wire, he had wires hanging on him.
Speaking of wires, this scene is Professor Layton's actor hanging on wires too. And at the first take the wires went too fast and his hat flew away.
Professor Layton's actor fell on the floor on the first take of this scene. Don't worry, the floor was green screen, and he was just hanging on 7ft from the floor.
Descole throwing his cape wasn't in the script, but his actor did it because he wanted to. He just wanted to do it, that's all.
The sanctuary room is a real filming set, not CGI. Even the Azran lights were real. The only CGI was the flash when Aurora tried to put herself into the light. By the way the cast had trouble synchronizing their collapse.
Also, in this scene the background was a giant LED screen. Professor Layton and Luke's actors liked this because they didn't need to stare at a green screen and see some nice video instead.
I think I should make some of these for each game LOL.
The Reinholds
If the first PL trilogy gets another remake or a console version, I personally want mini episodes to be added.
Cause I kinda want to see stuff like this.
- Some story about how Lady Dahlia is living her life after CV.
- Flora having a re-visit to the village years later.
- Just a peaceful day of the villagers in St. Mystere.
- Claudia walking around the village.
- Katia's story of what she did at Folsense.
- Katia and Anton having a nice day at Dropstone after DB.
- Sammy doing a short concert at Dropstone, and Katia applauses.
- Story of what happened to Flora after she was stuck in the barn.
- Emmy apprearing again.
- Claire and Hershel bonding before the time machine incident.
- Dimitri and Claire having a conversation before UF.
- Luke talking with his parents after escaping the mobile fortress.
- Clive having some dream just like how Descole did in AL.
- Alfendi foreshadowing.
- Luke sending a letter that he'll visit london soon, though he'll visit Southampton first.
- Flora deciding what to do for now after UF.
Really, I want to see those small stories Level-5 didn't show us.
Professor Layton dialogues (+ one reaction) I send to my friends constantly. Use at your leisure.
A dark AU where Flora is actually a robot just like the villagers of St. Mystere
Flora actually died years ago by a disease, and the Flora who exists now is a robot with her memories.
Baron Augustus Reinhold didn't accept her daughter's death, and so the current robot Flora was made. She thinks she's still the real one, and remembers as she was ill but all okay now.
After his death, he requested Bruno to protect Flora, and keep her from knowing the truth about her death. Bruno accepted this request, and so did Lady Dahlia and the other Reinhold family.
Flora was kept away from the Reinhold manor, where her secret is hidden. Lady Dahlia never let her come near the manor, acting as the 'villain'. She felt sorry for doing this, but she didn't want the little girl to know about her death.
And so Flora never came to the Reinhold manor, being upset about Lady Dahlia and all the others. She stayed up at her tower, and wandered around St. Mystere sometimes.
She was raised by the villagers as a pure girl. The villagers would tell her fairytales and fantasy stories, giving her fantasy about magic.
The reason they told her fantasy stories was to let her interest stay in the realm of magic. This way her interest wouldn't stay in reality, which she might find out about her secret.
Also, the golden apple thing won't exist, since Baron Augustus Reinhold decided to let Flora stay in St. Mystere. Professor Layton and Luke would come to St. Mystere because the laytonmobile broke down. Not because of an inheritance dispute.
Bruno would tell Flora not to go outside for a while, but Flora wouldn't listen and go see who came to the village. And she would actually spend time with them, hiding from the villagers.
It won't be long until Professor Layton and Luke finds out the girl they met is a robot. And it won't be long until Flora finds out her life isn't real.
Flora would have an identity crisis about herself, panicking and maybe being caught by Don Paolo. Of course, if this happens Professor Layton would save her immediately.
After some time of Flora panicking and running away, she would go to her mother's grave, and also hers. She would just stay there silently, doing nothing and waiting herself to deactivate maybe.
Like, what's worth living when she's a copy of a dead girl? She's a copy, and no one else but a mechanical doll. Is there even a meaning of her life when her memory is actually not hers?
Professor Layton would attempt talking with her, but Flora won't listen what he says. Then Luke would attempt talking with her, which actually works.
Luke actually interacted with Flora more than Professor Layton, cause Flora felt more fond of Luke since he's a little kid just like her. And they made a little friendship, understanding each other.
So this helps Luke talking with Flora. Also, Luke had a robot friend before who eventually died. And he didn't want Flora to die too so...
There would be Luke crying, and then Flora crying, and then Professor Layton just hugging the two until they stop crying.
And Flora will find out even her memories may be fake, she can still live on as an independant being. The past Flora may have died, she may be a copy of her, but she's worth to live another life.
At the end Flora goes along with Professor Layton, leaving her small village. Living with a robot may be difficult, but Luke and the professor knows that it'll be fine if they're with her.
Curious Village but a horror game:
TW for mentions of murder.
After his wife's death, Baron Reinhold was so heartbroken that he created a robot in her image. However, his daughter hated it so he ordered it to be destroyed.
He instead built an entire village of friendly robots so Flora would never be lonely.
Unbeknownst to him, Bruno had kept Dahlia alive, believing that he could improve her to become the perfect mother.
However, the maternal instincts in her were so strong, she became obsessed with Flora and would stop at nothing to get her.
After she killed Bruno and attempted to kidnap Flora, Augustus realised how dangerous she was.
He then locked himself and Flora in the tower where they lived peacefully until he passed away.
In the present day, Flora knows that she must leave the tower if she wants to survive.
Without Bruno, the villagers have broken down and started malfunctioning. Some are missing limbs and faces. Some constantly shake and glitch when talking. Others simply stand there, motionless. The ones who can talk simply tell Flora to "be a good girl and go home to mother."
Dahlia is only seen as a shadow, searching through the village, calling for her daughter in a soft, motherly voice.
Flora doesn't know who this woman is, or why she claims to be her dead mother, but she knows she needs to escape.
Just outside the village is a faceless man in a top hat. He speaks only in riddles and promises to help Flora escape in exchange for the Golden Apple.
She also meets a scruffy young boy, who lives alone in the woods and talks to animals. He shows her how to travel underground without being seen.
Flora must travel through the ghost town, unraveling it's secrets while avoiding her mother.
When Dahlias face is finally shown, she has changed a lot. Without Bruno she had to make her own repairs, using parts from the villagers. She is now ten feet tall, incredibly thin, with long sharp claws. I'd best describe her as looking like The Other Mother from Coraline.
After defeating Dahlia and freeing the village, Flora leaves with the mysterious gentleman, unsure of what her future has in store.
