There should be an episode in season 6 where Adrien avoids Chat Noir for identity reasons but Marinette thinks that it's actually because Adrien blames Chat Noir for leaving her to face Monarch alone, since his father might not have died if she wasn't alone, so Marinette starts freaking out because what is she supposed to do if her boyfriend hates her partner?

thinking about alya in rocketear saying she could never fall for someone she doesn't really know, and how i don't think i've ever seen anyone explore that in an alyabug/renabug context

thinking about alya insisting that it's just casual. that she won't fall for ladybug, and marinette's just willing to accept whatever she can get, because she doesn't think alya would fall for her civilian side when they're already so close and clearly alya's never thought about marinette like that. but marinette's head over heels, listening to alya gush about her hookups with ladybug, trying not to kiss alya silly right then and there because she's so cute when she gets excited

thinking about how alya would obviously end up falling for ladybug anyways, but she can't shake the part of her that's desperate to know who ladybug is. maybe it irritates her, that ladybug won't trust her with that. and she knows it's wrong to try and force ladybug to reveal herself, but she doesn't think she can just let it go. she doesn't know what to do. and marinette's still listening to alya go on and on about this and she's seconds away from bursting out with the truth and--

god one headcanon i adore about the love square--like it shows up again and again in my writing and it makes me sick (positive)--is that idea that they both think it's the other one holding them up

like, i couldn't do this without them. they're so strong. how do they see me this way, they've got it backwards

they both think the other is infallible. but NOT in a "they can do no wrong," sort of way. it's that whatever happens, their partner will find a way out. they'll get back up and try again

and like ksjbdfkjsb i will eat that shit up for 7 meals a day because let's be real 3 meals is not enough i need 2 breakfasts and 3 snacks

When Plagg meets Adrien, he can smell Duusu on him. Plagg knows exactly what that means - and it's not hard to figure out where the feather must be.

In this version of events, instead of trying to tell Adrien to disobey his father, Plagg tells him what the loopholes in Gabriel's orders are.

"He said you couldn't leave the press conference until it was over, but he never said you couldn't be the one to end it."

"He said you had to put on that outfit, but he didn't say you couldn't take it off again immediately after."

"He said he didn't want to hear the name Marinette, but you can still talk about Baker Girl." Et cetera

With Plagg's guidance, Gabriel's magical control over Adrien becomes essentially negligible, for the most part. Of course, still being Adrien's father, he still holds some sway in the boy's heart, but at least now Adrien is choosing whether to take Plagg up on those loopholes.

Haha! Yeah, I relate to that struggle hard.

But it’s an adorable concept that seems like a lot of fun. I love him accidentally revealing himself in that context. She would be going out of her mind!

If you were open to it, you could take more of a “write the part that’s fun” approach. You could just open with exposition monologue from Multimouse about how she couldn’t even mess up right! Haha! Where she just gives brief synopsis of her multiple accidental successes and bemoans the fact that Chat Noir believes in her so much, and then end with the Multichat conversation.

Anyway, thanks for sharing!!!! I would love to read it someday, but if this is all I get, I still enjoyed it!! :)

Idea: Reverse Marichat. Marinette is out and night and sees Chat Noir sitting on some random balcony. So she scales up some trees, a gutter pipe and a window to come to him and see what’s up.

Prereveal Adrinette going one one (1) date together, probably due to some hijinks pulled by Alya and Nino to get them together without Marinette escaping.

At first its a little awkward since Adrien in unsure what his warm fuzzy feelings for Marinette are exactly, while Marinette is panicking over being unable to escape the situation because she knows it'll make Adrien feel bad.

But they slowly start to get comfortable. They have fun. That little bit of teasing from the end of Puppeteer 2 comes back and they are actually able to laugh together. The shoujo bubbles are constant because - wow! Marinette really is an incredible girl and really smart and funny! - wow! Adrien is still so sweet and genuine and Marinette can't help but constantly blush when he smiles at her so much!

They get closer and its looks like they'll hold hands! They're so close a hug could happen any second! Their faces almost within kissing range! Maybe Adrien is realising what his feelings are. Maybe Marinette is able to briefly let go of her fear because he just helps her feel so at ease.

But then an akuma attack happens and they both have to leave. They feel terrible that they can't go and hide with the other. They make hasty excuses that are accepted just as quickly.

And when the attack is over and they find each other again there's just...this moment of quiet. Adrien is reminded of Kagami sitting alone as she waited for him time and time again, her disappointment that he was unable to let go of his feelings for someone else (Ladybug). Marinette is reminded of always running late, leaving early or just not turning up at all on her dates with Luka. She remembers his sadness when she couldn't tell him why. That there was a huge part of herself she had to keep closed off and hidden. And they both realise...they just can't. Even if Adrien/Marinette is so important to them. They're just too important to constantly disappoint again and again whenever an akuma shows up. For someone who they think the world of and deserves the world...they don't think they can ever be the one to give it to them.

So they smile at each other and thank each other for a fun time. And they leave it at that. Adrien pushes aside unpacking his feelings for Marinette. Marinette returns to her denial and self punishment.

They care about each other too much to put them through all the hurt and disappointment they feel they've inflicted on others. They blame themselves for it not being possible, not knowing that the other is doing the same. They don't know that they're letting go of the one person who could understand completely how much it hurts.

So they walk their separate ways, letting something so wonderfully sweet and fragile end before it can even start. Before they can even have the chance to break it.

Chat Noir begging ladybug to bring multimouse back & she finally concedes but she’s “going on holiday” (and he assumes she hates marinette lmao), or she says she’s going on holiday/away/to hospital idk and gives him the mouse miraculous ~just in case~ and he’s so excited to have marinette involved again fjksksj (and scarabella is there obvs to purify the akuma & help out and Alya thinks this is HILARIOUS)

concept: marinette memory loss but it plays out the same as the doom tree arc in sailor moon, except instead of usagintrying to explain reincarnation while showing mamoru her crayon illustrations, it’s adrien showing marinette her own sketches of them together and trying to explain the love square
