Netflix is so real for this.
Today's thoughts are of the youth of Penelope & Colin and how it affects their relationship, specifically: how they fight.
Penelope is maybe 20 at most. Colin is perhaps 23.
They are also a part of the upper class. This allows them essentially a longer childhood in some ways for the era. They are emotionally pretty on par with a somewhat shy and sheltered 18 year old today who has never had a relationship and a 20 year old college kid who was also a bit hiddenly shy but has dated around a bit.
This means that neither of them have ever had to compromise on a larger, but intimate, and more important scale.
They don't know how to fight from a place of common goal. This is what they have to learn together.
I am going into detail with how this affects multiple scenes, so here is a cut for everyone. :)
bros looking like they boutta start singing 'the story of tonight' LMAO 😭😭
LMAOOOO
let's have another round tonight bros
what lady danbury means to say is she knows that the bridgertons all share one braincell so they could never be as smart as LW💀
I am in TEARS this is hands down the funniest Bridgerton tweet [edit: was not expecting it to quickly become my post popular post lmao here’s the link if you’re a twitter person]
“Are you old enough to read that?”
Oh my god, Penelope convinced him to leave in the smutty bits.
I've had my bi representation (especially that bi panic cuz I felt that), my poly representation, my autism representation, my body type representation, my women representation, my wallflower representation, my low self confidence that someone can actually love me for me representation, my lack of boldness representation, my hatred of lies but always needing to keep secrets representation, my feelings of wanting to raise my voice because I always end up invisible and people planning things for me even if it's my business and problem representation, my complex relationship with my parents and siblings even if I love them representation, my stuttering to speak out in public but I know I have to representation, my "I love them but I don't know how I can forgive them" representation and so much more
I kid you not i cried in this season... More than once. In each episode.
Hell, even my psychology major brain kept screaming at all the things I can psychoanalyze and notice!! Like their first sex scene and Pen can keep going but Colin needed 5 minutes or 10!! (I always screamed whenever I read how men can always keep going and not need breaks at sex scenes while the female is always the one who need a moment cuz I know men need more recovery time than a woman!)
My favorite book might have been "On the Way to the Wedding" but Netflix made sure that "Romancing Mister Bridgerton" is my favorite season in the series.
me: still processing bi benedict
the writers: 🏳️🌈 MICHAELA stirling 🏳️🌈
kinda glad part 2 came out during June so I can wish these two a happy pride month 😚🫶🏼🏳️🌈
It just occurred to me that Colin wants Pen to mirror his single minded focus on their love while Eloise wants Pen to mirror her desire to live independently.
Penelope’s journey is to look in the mirror and see both possibilities in herself—a devoted, blissful wife and an ambitious, successful rebel. In a way, Colin and Eloise represent the two halves of Penelope.
This show is not silly. It’s actually kind of brilliant.
tweets that have either made me laugh or emotionally wrecked me. i love this fandom sm
just saw a comment about colin and penelope's first kiss which said the first time that a kiss has awakened the prince instead of sleeping beauty and i'm openly weeping because yes.
Colin’s whole ‘You’re not going to die tomorrow.’ and ‘You’d already be dead’ is so funny and one of my favorite parts from the book.
But in the show it’s so great because Luke plays it EXACTLY like a guy with four sisters who he has seen in full meltdown mode before it’s so spot on I giggle every time.
The fact that it's canon that Violet met the love of her life after getting covered in flour by him and laughed at and Colin met his after getting covered in mud and laughed at by her is just weirdly hilarious to me
It ain't hilarious, it's iconic and ironic 😌 clearly meant to be.
Like Violet knew Polin was gonna happen sooner than later and she was cheering cuz YES! LET HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF!
Oh look at that.. I guess season 3 didn't flop.. ups
