Even though Tim knows Lucy’s different, I think that it’s a normal reaction for him to be worried about Lucy going undercover again, especially since Isabel just came back in this episode. I think it brought those worries to the forefront of his mind, and I think he doesn’t know exactly what to do with all these thoughts. Lucy did acknowledge how he’s not good w/her going under, and I hope she can see that her original inclinations are correct. Tim just wants her to be happy though, so of course he’d be one to push aside his feelings in order for Lucy to do the job she wants to do.
I’m okay with the possible angst to come for them and for the drama is may bring because I have confidence in their relationship and I think that they can withstand this. I mean hell, they’ve been through much worse and gotten through it!
I also thought that while yes, it was a little odd for Tim to chuckle with Isabel about the meditation comment, I think it said more about how HE IS as a person (aka: not someone who’s necessarily calm or wants to use calming methods) and not a dig at Lucy’s suggestion. I didn’t see Isabel as a threat to their relationship either, so I didn’t understand the anger about her presence… but that’s just from my standpoint. To each their own (:
All in all, I thought the episode was good and I hope that Chenford makes it out okay in the end despite the UC mission Lucy will be on.
“You and Chen are close, right?”
“Yeah, I’d say so.”
Why do I always forget this scene happened in 2x12... maybe this was Tim’s way of saying “I know about it but I’m not gonna say I know” 😳🤔
Things I also won’t shut up about:
- Tim being the one to arrest Lucy and ask if she’s okay
- NYLA’S EXPRESSION AT NOLAN PLS
- John just kinda pulling Harper along meanwhile Tim’s being all soft w/Lucy
nothing — not jackson’s freaked expression, not the fact that he didn’t have a shovel, not prying open the barrel, not the fact that lucy wasn’t breathing — not one damn thing was getting in tim’s way of bringing her back
“You serious about being UC?”
“Yeah.”
“What the hell just happened?”
“That was my wife. I haven’t seen her in almost a year.”
“So you guys were on the force together?”
“I worked out of the 77th, volunteered for undercover as soon as I could.”
“I came here to remind you: you’ll regret helping her. Cause it’s not gonna change her. But it’ll sure as hell change you.”
Rookie finale feels
SPOILER ALERT FOR THE ROOKIE 3X14 AKA: THE S3 FINALE FYI
God bless Eric Winter for being the best ship captain for the Chenford army 😄
When I say I went like 🤭 during this I mean I’m sincerely omgggg this promo
When I tell you I’m throwing a fit over this parallel I mean it because out of context either of these just look like two significant others (a husband - the rookie; a wife - chicago pd) feeling so relieved their loved one is okay. And then you’ve got the father figure (voight - pd) and good friends (john & jackson - The Rookie) waiting too 🥺🥺
“Just like when the lid came down on that barrel...” // “When I was in that barrel, I knew you would find me.”
Just wanted to do this parallel (apparently I like pain) because it shows Tim & Lucy being reminded of the worst times in their life: Tim, when he was worried he wouldn’t find Lucy in time; Lucy, being buried alive. 😫😩 Also, the impact Eric & Melissa convey in just one look is astounding. I’ll never shut up about it because it’s THAT good. They really said 🥺🥺 & it was heartbreakingly beautiful + powerful.
