Since day 1, Lucy’s always been Tim’s sanctuary. And he’s been hers too. ❤️
I feel like this moment of hesitation on Tim’s part needs to be discussed more. Cause he had to pause before deciding to share part of his backstory with Lucy. But, that’s not the real point here.
The real point here is that even though he may have been a little hesitant at first, he decided to push passed that and share a part of his story with her anyhow. Why? Because he knew it could/would help her in some way. He’d be damned if he didn’t try, y’know?
And I feel like even though Lucy may have initially been a little unsure of how to receive the anecdote, she took it in stride and tried to ultimately understand why Tim was doing what he was doing - and she appreciated that he took the time to help her.
Ugh, just this whole entire scene... there’s so many little moments I am either discovering for the first time (e.g: this one) or seeing in a new way. Eric & Melissa knocked it out of the park 😌🙌

Why do I always forget this scene happened in 2x12... maybe this was Tim’s way of saying “I know about it but I’m not gonna say I know” 😳🤔

This. Parallel. Kills. Me. Poor. Lucy. Chen. But in all seriousness, bravo to Melissa O’Neil in portraying the vulnerability of these moments. The nonverbal cues are exceptional & we really see what Lucy’s going through in 2x12...that emotion, the thoughts that probably race through her mind when she sees the tattoo...ugh, just insanely heartbreaking & wonderfully acted. ❤️😫

The way in which they care about each other SO much is amazing. Like there Lucy was on like day 3 (well okay, ep3) being a concerned girlfriend rookie over Tim. Then, cut to s2 and you have Tim being the best concerned boyfriend training officer about Lucy.
They both check in on each other. They both want to help the other be the best cop and person they can be. If that’s not the best damn foundation of friendship and trust to build a relationship from idk what is. They’ve both seen each other at their lowest, and stayed. 🥺❤️
Remember when everyone else was still walking on eggshells around Lucy? Remember when everyone else kept asking about or brought up her DOD tattoo like she almost couldn’t handle it?
Then there was Tim who — despite being concerned about/for her — was vulnerable with her, and yet he gave her strength with his truthful words. She is a survivor. Regardless of what she does with the damn tattoo or how she coped with the Caleb situation. He never once doubted her & I think that’s beautiful.
