Like for example, how they edited it to show Lucy asking the question, then Ashley’s face. probably just me overthinking it but it’s almost like they’re comparing the two women. Or at least, using it as an example to show how one would react vs. who’s the one discussing it? Does that make sense? I mean I know it’s not like you announce it to the person you’re going to marry that you’re going to propose, but you’d think that ashley would have some idea that it could be coming.... or if not, then that says a lot about the state of ashford right there. (Eric’s ship name, not mine!)
Then there’s the whole idea of even if it is just how they edited the promo, I’m curious about Chenford not making eye contact with each other. Because usually they’re very good about the 👀 you know? And yet in this crucial convo, neither looks directly at the other when speaking. But especially Tim, who looks off to the side more than once when answering Lucy’s question w/“I can.” The casualness of his time betrays it too. Like come on Timothy. That’s not an “I’m so excited to marry ashley” voice nor is it an “I’m gonna marry the love of my life” look he has on his face. That’s because the love of his life is sitting in the seat next to him
I’d just think that friends who are comfortable enough around each other (& don’t have potential to be romantic) would be able to discuss these things with genuine excitement and support. Now, I’m not saying Lucy’s not being supportive of Tim or that she’s not genuinely excited about this for him. But, I am saying that these feelings of hers are gonna come to the surface and 💥. Major feelings alert — which I think will affect Chenford in 4x22, but I digress.
I’m also still wondering if the proposal thing is leaning towards a vacation because Jon’s (Jon steinberg, EP of the rookie, fyi) now deleted Chenford equation mentioned a vacation and it lent itself to being Tim/Ashley. But idk! I’m still just a little bummed if they did use the respective as a way to kind of trip us up in the episode description but also not totally discouraged because it makes more sense for chrischen to have the moms day stuff. oh well.
Oh & poor Lucy. I’m still betting they won’t be able to fully process whatever the outcome is. Either Lucy sees that tiny bit and doesn’t hear ashley say no (or yes) — or she sees everything and doesn’t hear it. Or, it’s actually the vacation thing and Tim goes to tell her but she’s gone. OR the whole theory of her getting done talking w/Chris then wanting to talk to tim then seeing him w/Ashley... either way I’m still looking forward to this episode & am not one of those people who are “Bradford antis” until this ep is over LOL. maybe it’s because I like angst and drama - I’m here for all the ups and downs as long as Chenford is endgame (by s5 pls!!!)
PS: did y’all see that Helena had posted a congrats post for the rookies s5 pickup? Do we think that means anything or just her being supportive? Cause then maybe that does mean ashley would be coming back so what if she does say yes but then after the UC mission realizes that she can’t do it 😳🥴🤭🤔 like I said just my two cents & theories...
